You didn't answer my rollerblading question. But that's cool. Where is this tournament by the way? Sounds like it might be worth watching the foursomes come up 18 for pure amusement's sake. And of course you're okay with capri pants, you were wearing them. Anyway, if you're going to wear them, be prepared to take some ribbing or have the game to shut him up. Heck, he wasn't even that mean. He could have said "Nice capris, how much do you charge for handjobs?"

Not really "gamesmanship" if you weren't playing him. Sounds like he was simply an outspoken observer. If you were witty, you'd have pointed out that they were in fact his wife's pants. If you wear capri pants on the golf course, I can only imagine what you wear when you go rollerblading. (A rainbow thong perhaps?)
  4. Off the tee, I'll go with the driver into the wind no problem. Off the deck, on the other hand, not my favorite shot. Looking for something to play from the fairway/rough.
  5. Here's my problem, spend a lot of time playing in the wind and current hybrid (Ping Anser) launches way too high. Great downwind, but gets killed into the wind. Have learned to knock it down, but would prefer something a bit more user friendly. I've given some thought to switching out the shaft (currently have Tour Stiff that comes stock), but want to see if I can simply find a hybrid (or even a driving iron) that has a higher COG. 9.0 index, so I have some game, and wouldn't shy away from more of a "player's hybrid." Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  6. I purchased the XCG6 Driver, 10.5 degree back in May and am really happy with it. I'm pretty particular about my equipment and had been playing the TM Burner TP 2.0. Was fitted for the prior driver and, for the sake of a few extra yards, ditched the lousy TM stock stiff shafts for a Mitsubishi. Went to the fitter this time around (old driver in hand for comparison purposes) fully expecting walking out with the R1 or the Ping G25. Long story short, I hit all the usual suspects and tried all sorts of shaft variations, and the #s weren't all that compelling (i.e., I wasn't gaining much from my old driver). Then the guy through the XCG6 in my hand saying he'd gotten really great feedback from those people who were willing to give it a try. Was a little suspect at first, but looked good from the top and really liked the weighting with the stock Matrix HD6.1 shaft. Sure enough, hit a few and saw improved numbers. Was really surprised. Almost thought the guy was tampering with the machine. Then did a bit of adjusting with the wrench and the numbers improved even more. Had the fitter trim an inch off the end of the shaft, #s stayed the same and whereas I expected to drop around $500+ on one of the big name drivers, I walked out only @$300 lighter in the wallet. Have been playing all summer with it and it's not disappointed me (although had to get rid of the hideous headcover).
  7. Who ever broke out the "dweeb" label nailed it. I've never seen a legit amateur player -- someone who pays for their equipment -- use them. Sometimes we forget what we put our irons through. Hitting out of waste areas, hard pan lies, or off range mats that are comparable to cement. Irons are pretty durable, the last thing you need to be concerned about is them knocking into each other in the bag. Got hooked up with some random golfer not to long ago and he sported iron covers. Most of our betting that day revolved around what kind of dingbat we were dealing with. Sure enough, he loses an iron cover on one holes, has to go back. Next, he plays my ball. Attempts to fix a divot, turns it into a crater. So not to typecast or anything, but if you walk to the first tee with iron covers, expect that your playing partners are making fun of you behind your back. Might as well just wear a "Kick Me" sign.
