What is with that comment? He basically can do what he wants with his clubs. Yes XMscott I would think you could have them fitted to your liking. Are you telling me I wasted my money? Well, I didn't. I like the heads and didn't feel like spending more money on another set irons. All I needed was a switch to reg shafts plus I needed new grips anyway. It is not a waste of money to get the irons you already have fitted. The way I have mine now are perfect for me and I want need a new set for a very very long time. -
Thank you all for any help you have gave me in what to do with my irons. I bought them about a month ago with stock stiff shafts, which were extremely hard for me to hit, I got maybe 2 out of 6 shots with those stock ping shafts. Those are long gone now. My set up. +1/4" over original length on all irons 3-pw, midsize grips (Ping I D8) 8-pw, standard grips 3-7 (Ping I D8 w/ 3 wraps of tape *to make them feel similar to the midsize* TT Lite XL Shafts...(Reg Flex) Grand total. $214 well spent dollars, not including original purchase of $150 for the irons themselves. So..............all together I have $364 invested in this set. Have took them to the range and they hit way better than the original shafts for me anyway. here are a couple of pics. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/Kyle0614/jpg-13.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/Kyle0614/jpg-12.jpg once again, thanks for any help and the importance of getting fitted.

Reshafting and Regripping the PING Eyes :)
Kyle0614 replied to Kyle0614's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well, if anyone cares, got my pings back today with brand spanking new TT Lite XL shafts, had them extended a quarter inch in length. Also got those stock Ping grips that come on the G series irons. They feel execellent :) -
Reshafting and Regripping the PING Eyes :)
Kyle0614 replied to Kyle0614's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My stock shafts are karsten model but not zz-lite, the ping guy said it was just one z in the model, so i'm guess z65 maybe? Oh well, I can't hit stiff for anything, maybe 2 out of 6 shots lol. -
Been at the range about 15 times or so with these pings I got but the shafts were to stiff for my swing, getting TT Lite regular flex with lamkin crossline grips, I'm looking foward to swinging these clubs with the right flex for my swing. How much better consistency will I have since I'm getting them built for my specs. Also, anyone use these shafts? Opinions appreciated ..

I'm a bit confused, just looked at the chart on ping and according to my wrist to floor of 35" the black dots (which is the color I currently have) seems to be correct length and the lie should be 1.5* Upright. The spaldings I have are just a little longer through the entire set and they just feel more comfortable as far as length goes, I'm probably taking the pings in for 1/4" added length and correct lie adjustment. What would be the price for that amount of length for 8 clubs and lie adjustment? 3-PW
-
Neither, both are steel.

Ok, just compared the 9 iron with my spalding 9 iron and the spalding looks to be either a 1/4 inch or a 1/2 inch longer. Not sure how to measure an iron but the longer spalding 9 iron feels more comfortable than the ping 9 iron. Note that the spaldings are just a tiny bit longer than the pings. The spaldings do feel like I have better posture throughout the set than the pings. I'm seriously thinking that I want to extend the pings the exact length of the spaldings.

5 28.5° 61.0° 37.75" (1/4" to short)? Iron, Loft, Lie, Length my wrist to floor measurement is 35" Found this info below from a website but it want let me copy the site for some reason. The way this is measured is to measure between your wrist and the floor when standing to attention. The picture to the right shows where you should take the measurements from. Once you have this the average club length is taken from your 5 iron which is the exact mid iron in your bag. So with this in mind your 5 iron should have a shaft length of: 37 inches for a measurement of 29 to 32 inches 37 1/2 inches for a measurement of 33-34 inches 38 inches for a measurement of 35-36 inches 38 1/2 inches for a measurement of 37-38 inches 39 inches for a measurement of 39-40 inches 39 1/2 inches for a measurement of 41 inches so.....................according to this chart it might be beneficial to extend all my irons a 1/4" ? it does feel like i'm slouching 8-pw I'm thinking of getting those shaft extenders.. Thanks for any help

How much is your golf set worth?
Kyle0614 replied to billysandy's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Burton Stand Bag - $100 Taylormade r7 Quad 10.5 Reg - $50 Square Two Pilot 7 wood - $20 Square Two Pilot 4 HY - $20 3-PW - Ping Eye Black Dot - $150 Putter - Taylormade Rossa Lambeau 7 (center shaft) - $30 $370- not bad for getting back into the game after being away for a while :) -
For my Ping Eye Irons and Driver, HY, F-wood.....(basically my whole set I guess) I want the same grips on everything :) Narrowed it down to Tour Velvet GP, Lamkin Crossline Tour, Lamkin Crossline (black/white), or Tacki-mac( like the idea, never felt one) .... This is HARD, lol Anyways, just seeing if one of you had to choose between the four, what would you pick?

Wasn't today, but saturday i shot a 127, YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I'm trying very hard to improve my ball striking by getting at least 5 iron shots in a row in the air while I'm on the range, my short game and putting and driving are decent, just my irons are terrible at the moment... Just a little rusty since getting back into it from being absent for a few years. Going to try and play at least ten times before the winter hits and try and break 85-90 and I'll be happy :)

I am not a beginner, just a little rusty.

Thanks for the motivation from you guys, I'm going to try the back 9 in a week or so as it seems a little easier to me than the front, what would be a good number to shoot for? 50? 55? I am going to change all of my grips to lamkin crossline midsize, i have much better control with that grip, have it on my sand wedge, the other irons are gp dd2 yellow, i just like the lamkin so much better and i think it will help me tremendously on the downswing, that seems to be my fault, (not bringing it down square with the ball)

First time on 18 holes in a few years. Chunking slicing hooking topping, u name it I and I did it. I had a couple of really good shots. 1. 7 wood par 3 greenside, about 18-20yd to the pin made a bogey there. 2. Last shot had a 7 iron and pitched it about 3 ft from the pin. All in all a couple of good long iron shots, a couple good hybrids, scoring clubs 6-PW were ok....... driving good, need a lot of work on putting and irons and I'm confident I could break 90. Grand total. 127!!!!! Lol..........par 72. +55 oh my! Going to clean my clubs and wonder if it gets better :( sigh, on light note, these taylormade burner TP balls are pretty good. Thanks for reading.

Hello, I have a tee time on the 2nd and I am going try the current position of the weights this week at the range for practice. The club shipped to me in used condition. Current weight position, 2 on toe 10 center 10 center 2 on heel, now keep in mine I tend to slice the ball about 40 yards or so to the right as I am a right handed player. Is there any way to move the weights in a different position to help reduce the slice? I did read something on an article about the two heavier ones on the heel and two lighter ones on the toe to promote a draw. Would this be good for me?

R7 quad 10.5 reg w/weights and tm rossa lambeau putter are on the way to my front door as we speak. How much bigger of an improvement will i see over my off brand square two pilot 460cc 10.5 which i have already dented on the bottom from topping a ball real real bad, lol....want be denting the r7 though as I am striking the drive much much better. Again...same question with putter. Replacing pal joey golf, (ping pal look-a-like even has bronze/copper head and all) only seen one just like it on ebay. Better line in putting I guess with the tm? the pal joey went slightly to the right at the tail end of the putt. The pal joey did roll pretty smooth on the practice green though, but I bet the rossa is leaps and bounds better :) If you read my other thread, I have also upgraded my spalding irons to original ping eye's (not the 2's) but original black dots. Keep in mind, just the other day I really started hitting my irons confident at the range and pretty straight, only a few shanks and a few low bullets that veered to the right...not really any hardcore slices like I was doing. (well, a couple :) lol) All the rest were pretty straight with lots of flight. I truly believe I am improving my game everytime I get out there and hit a few, I will be actually playing the course on july 2nd hopefully, also keep in mind I was absent from the game for a few years. I guess all that is left is to change my f-wood and hybrid to probably another taylormade as I get a little more money... Am I doing okay in equipment as far as skill level and college student budget go? fyi... i first started swinging when I was five, now 28 years old, but like a lot people, my game was an off an on thing, but now playing every chance I get and hoping I will break 90 when I go out their to actually play instead of the range, haven't played a real 18 hole course in few years.. BTW, I love this forum !!!!!!!!! :)

Kyle0614 replied to Kyle0614's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Pics :) only took a shot of a couple of clubs in the set only because its early in the mourning and i didn't feel like getting them all out then putting the bag up again etc....... enjoy :) btw, am I like one of few on here who have the ping eye and not the eye 2? I can't seem to find anything in the search with just eye. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/Kyle0614/jpg-2.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/Kyle0614/jpg-1.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o243/Kyle0614/jpg.jpg -
How did I do? Was looking for a better iron set than my spalding's, so.........a guy that works at my local pro shop had a personal set of original ping eye black dots that he got into the game with and let them go to me for $150 3-PW with fairly recent Golf Pride DD2 yellow grips. Anyone by any chance know the specs on this set before I try and contact ping. Any info would be appreciated. Excited to get these out on the course :)

Finally, completed my equipment for the season...
Kyle0614 replied to Kyle0614's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yep, after about 5 buckets at the range I can strike them well if I don't slice it lol, they feel really good for such an old iron, are these the cream of the crop for spalding back in the day?
