  1. The tour iX is my current ball of choice. It is designed to be longer for the mid level swing speed player than the other performance balls and more durable. Because of that you will lose some short game spin. These balls fly long and straight, and have adequate greenside control for me. Not as good as a ProV1 or ProV1X around the green, but for someone with a mid level swing speed, they will usually be farther and straighter off of the tee. That is what they are designed for. The thing i really love is that they are the most durable performance ball i have ever played. 2 thumbs up!
  2. Going from a 25 handicap at the beginning of last season to a 14 i would like to add something to this thread. I am a weekend player that sometimes gets to break out in during the workweek. I try to get to the range at least once a week and WORK ON MY FLAWS, not just wack balls. When you are a 20+ capper, play soft and long balls like the Noodle. They are cheap and made for golfers like you. I think what helped me the most to dramatically shoot better was outside help (teacher) for my swing and chipping. And then putting on the practice green a lot until i was comfortable with mid range and short putts. The key to improvement is to practice your weak areas and get help on finding your flaws. It is a real eye opener when you consistently slice and then an instructor helps you understand what "swinging outside in" means and the next thing you know you hit a draw. Good Luck Golfers!
  3. Played Bridlewood wednesday - the greens are in amazing condition and the course is playing great. It is close to where you are staying. I would check it out. Also - i will say it again - hit the Texas Star in Euless - you can't go wrong there!
  4. tees, balls, donut weight, airplane bottles of wild turkey, and a cigar cutter.
  5. I saw a thread like this on some forum and thought it brought up some good replies. Had my longest drive yesterday. Funny story, our 2-some was behind a 5-some for about 3 holes and they kept saying "If we slow you down we will let you play through". But they never waved us through while waiting to make our approach shots. Finally they let us tee up ahead of them on hole 13 at Cedar Crest in Dallas. Well i had been spraying my driver all day and had no confidence in it, but was so fed up with these guys that i just tee-ed it up and let an all-out rip. Well it was dry conditions, down wind and down hill, so what do you know, my longest drive ever! Hehe! Titleist NXT extreme. Hole plays 377 from the blues. Ball stopped on a sprinkler head that marked 67 yards! 310 yards! Let me hear your story of the longest you remember!
  6. Yea - Texas Star is about 15 minutes from the stadium. Highway 183 passes right by Texas Stadium, and to get to Texas Star just go west on highway 183 from the stadium.
  7. If you are staying in Irving then play the Texas Star in Euless. It is one of the best public courses in town and definately a great value. You will love it.
  8. I would say the noodles and titleist DT-SOLO are the best bet out there for beginners. Great all around feel from tee to green.
