I as well have the same problem. I currently have been shooting low 80's but I want to get into the 70's. My irons along with putting have been terrific this year but my driver has been very eratic. I have been using my 2 hybrid off the tee and can hit it about 240. With the 3 wood and driver I never know whats going to happen. My miss with the driver use to be a duck hook but I fixed that. My misses off the tee are now a slice or a blocked shot to the right. I have been tweaking my swing by having a better hip turn instead of slide but for some reason it's not working with my driver or 3 wood. I am not sure if its mental or its my swing when it comes to the driver. I recently put a 83g diamana white board on my titleist 910 d2. The first time I crushed it down the middle almost every hole but ever since that I have been very inconsistent. I would love to hear some swing thoughts by people who use to push/block there driver.

The Biggest Secret? Slide Your Hips
alexander19 replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Great thread! I recently have been trying to concentrate on my hip slide but had a few concerns. Although I am making good contact with most my swing I seem to be topping my driver out of all clubs when emphaizing the hip slide. Also I have a hit a few pull shots with my irons. Any advice ???- 949 replies

Thanks for the advice. I believe it's all mental because I get very odd tee shots when I have to aim left or right but when the fairway is straight ahead I seem to hit most fairways. It just feels odd when the fairway is not straight ahead. People say when you want to hit a fade put the ball on right side of market but for some odd reason I hit a better shot when I tee it on the left side....not sure why.

anyone? I am sorry my above post is a little confusing. I just want to know if anyone had tips for alignment on the tee box (when the tee box is not facing the fairway).

The inside to inside swing path.

Out of the three he described in the video which one would I have? -
I am not sure about everyone else but a lot of courses I play have a few tee box's lined up to either the right side or left side rough. I know a lot of people will pick a spot a few inches in front of their ball and focus on just that spot and ignore everythng else. For some reason when the Tee box is facing down the right side and I have to aim left I tend to hit a slice. I try to make sure my stance is not open and my shoulders are parallel with my target. Does anyone else have this problem?

Just to make sure we are on the same page when you say I have a slight early extention do you mean my body is leaning forwards on my downswing and instead of doing that I am better off just bumping my hips to the left and turn. -

Thanks, that was great advice. It was hard to explain the turning left part to people but what you just said was what I was told to do. -

Thank you for your input saevel. If you notice my slow motion swing (I pasted the URL in the early part of this thread) you will notice I tend to transfer my weight on my left side pretty good so I dont believe I problem falling back and flipping the hands. My misses are "worm burners" they get airborn it's just not the pure perfect ball strike. Again when I was told to swing inside and open hips I was getting better divots and ball contact but ocassionaly I would pull it left if I didnt keep the clubface open. -

Thank you amazingwacker.....I like my downswing and follow through but my backswing needs help. I have been shooting in high 70's low 80's all this year and feel that if I make a dramatic swing change it might take all summer to get back to the high 70;s. I know there is not a quick fix button but 1-2 swing thoughts and I usually can fix it myself. -

I will look into the hands deep thread. When I saw my swing on video I was shocked on how flat I am on my backswing (looked very ugly to me). My downsing seems to be fine so I have been working on getting my hands highers and taking my club back and then straight up inside of inside. As you know it's very hard to just change your swing and I dont have the capability to always video tape my swing. Are there any swing thoughts you would advise in order to make my shoulder turn less flat? I don't really want to go from flat to vertical, I want to be in between. Also the video I posted regarding the inside to inside swing path would that be a cure for this type of swing??? http://www.golf.com/video/stop-fats-and-thins-now Thanks! -

Here is my swing in slow motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-_FqjqHd0U I have been tweeking my swing too much so I am trying to have 1 or 2 swing thoughts and just go from there. My misses have been thin shots with a fade. My old miss prior to these swing thoguhts (toe up in takeaway and swing left) was a hook with my driver. -

Anyone?? -
I came across this video and was very curious by it. I have a strong grip and my face was shot at the top of my swing. I took a lesson and was told to get the toe up during my takeaway and then pretend like I am swinging left in order to get club on plane. Any opinions on this method? Here is a link that explains it much better http://www.golf.com/video/stop-fats-and-thins-now

Okay sound's good....I have watched numerous videos in slow motion but it's a lot easier for me to have certain swing thoughts. I didn't know if you had any of those based on my swing.

And also by lean do you mean the start of my downswing??

Thanks for your input. Do you have an instruction video on what you would like me to do when it comes to the early wrist hinge? Thanks.

I've been Playing Golf for: 8 years My current handicap index or average score is: 8 My typical ball flight is: Use to be draw now is slight fade due to new swing thoughts The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Hook Videos: I use to hook the ball (I obviously have a strong grip). I got a tip from a friend of mine who is a scratch golfer. His advice was if I don't want to weaken the grip try to get the toe up and pretend like I am swinging hard left. My old swing my face was shut at the top and I was coming from the inside and I would hook the ball with the driver on my miss. I have been hitting my driver great with these new swing thoughts but wanted advice on my swing. Thanks.
