  2. Hi guys, Our club have a '3 club competition' on Sunday and I thought it would be interesting to see what other people would go with. Obviously it would might depend on the course. I'm thinking of using 5 iron and 9 iron - but still undecided. Any thoughts? *the putter must be one of the clubs!* Martin
  3. No offence taken! From 8 iron in I'm happy with my game, it's anything from 7 iron upwards. I'm currently having lessons a couple of times a month but I just can't seem to hit my mid to long irons consistently. It might be worth getting my lie angles re checked but I'm not sure that's the issue. Obviously the Nikes are a better club and harder to hit, whereas the AP1's will give that bit more forgiveness on the miss hits. I don't want to spend money that I don't need to, but would like my handicap to start moving in the right direction again!
  4. Hi guys, I need a bit of advice: I've been playing the VR pro combos for a year now and my game seems to - if anything - be getting worse. Mostly it's consistency of shots and it's starting to affect my handicap in the wrong direction! I'm looking at the AP1 712's for a bit more forgiveness, but should I just persevere with the VR's? It's really getting me down because I'm struggling to post a decent score. Martin
  5. Hi all, From looking on the site it appears NikeGolf are not generally regarded as a highly used brand. And also at my home course I don't think I've ever seen anyone use Nike products apart from the odd Machspeed driver here and there! Why is this? Apart from my Yes putter - which I doubt I'll ever change - I use Nike. I love the feel of their clubs and love the look of them also. Any insight would be great! Martin
  6. Can anyone help me out on this one? I've got a Nike VR 5W reg shaft (Aldila Voodoo) which is starting to crack. It's got one crack forming down the shaft from where the club head joins about 1 inch long. On the opposite side is another the same length but this one has taken a U turn and gone back up. Unfortunately the club has just passed it's warranty date. Is there anything I can do to strengthen the shaft without having to purchase a new one? Also, the cracking hasn't yet altered the performance of the club. Cheers! Martin
  7. Yeah playing the ball around 3 inches inside the left and I use a the right shaft! Just can't seem to hit it well. It's got to the point that the driver stays home and I use my 3W from the tee
  8. I've always had the same driver - a Nike Dymo 10.5 - and have always struggled with it. I used to hit ridiculously left to right but now with lessons have brought this to hitting straight and also being able to hit a small draw shot. Except with the driver which I still continue to hit majorly left to right. Is it time to maybe try a new driver or just have more lessons?
  9. I've played at the Ansty course near Rugby as one of my golf buddies is from Rugby - not bad!
  10. I bought a 56.10 vr pro wedge
  11. I've asked the pro I've been getting lessons off to check my swing when he gets 5 mins and he does
  12. What is the best way to break into the 70's? Even to hit a 79 would be such a great feeling. Although my official handicap is 25, I'm hitting mid 80's to early 90's consistently - just haven't played any comps to bring the handicap down. Other than the short game (this is the best part of my game) what would I need to do to finally break 80?
  13. Hi all Gonna be heading up the range today and wondered if anyone had any good drills or practise techniques to use while I'm up there?
  14. Should have said to him you'd go cheer him on in the 'tournament'!
  15. Can someone help answer this question please? A tour pro will throw away their golf ball every 1-2 holes as it's deemed 'unplayable', so for me - an amateur - will a ProV1 still retain the quality after 36 holes? I wouldn't want to spend that much on a golf ball that won't perform for very long. Cheers!
