  1. I was the same way in college. What I did was to take a golf class at my university. It is usually with about 25 other people, but the guy would go back and forth while we were hitting and tell you a tip or two which would usually help tremendously. They also go over putting and chipping which is a huge part of the game. When I took it at UF, I think you got 1 or 2 rounds of golf plus you got to hit balls twice a week. I even took the class again two semesters later to work on my swing some more. A year after that I was able to get into the eighties which I'm working on getting back down to now. The reason for this or to have a friend show you some pointers is that you don't want to ingrain bad habits early.
  2. My mistake. That's one thing I really want to be able to do in the next year is get on there in 2. Currently even when I hit my 3 wood about 240, and if I am 200 to 220 away, I will usually lay up and try to get close to the flag with a sand wedge so that I can have a chance at a birdie. I used to always go for it but then I'd usually turn a par or bogey into a triple bogey. I would still probably reccomend a 3 wood that you can hit off the fairway which is tough to do, but you seem to have most of the other distances in your bag.
  3. How are you getting to a par 5 in 2 if your driver seems to be about 220 average and then your next club is about 200 with roll? Just curious. I would say a 3wood that you can hit off the fairway if you can hit it straight and consistently enough that'll get you more distance for the longer par 5s.
  4. Yes I think that would've been the right thing to do from the beginning. I'll see how they hit and they may need to do that anyways because I hear bending cast irons more than 2 degrees is tough, so they may break a couple of them and need to do so. I am picking them up tomorrow and will hit them on what ever the plastic thing is to show that I am hitting it flush in the center. If that doesn't work, I may speak with a distict manager or taylor made directly.
  5. As long as we stay on topic, I'm happy.
  6. It's actually glazed ham and if you have a good enough press you can take out the toaster oven which is the preferred method. You'll also want to lightly brush olive oil on the crust, press till it's golden and cut it diagonally in half. It also doesn't hurt to marinate the pork in mojo.
  7. That's a bargain. I paid 5 and change just for the sandwhich.
  8. LMAO... But I had the cheese extended a 1/2 inch by melting it and then put aftermarket pickles on it, and they didn't charge me any extra to press it.
  9. Sounds good. In most of Miami, it's made with ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese and pickles on cuban bread with mustard. It is usually heated in a toaster oven for a bit and then pressed to about an inch to inch and a half thick. Delicious. Supposedly some serve it with salami but I've never had it.
  10. Ok. I'll start. I had a delicious cuban sandwhich in Miami.
  11. i just posted about a standard set I bought which weren't right for me. They are changing the lie angle, shaft length and grips. I hit a ping that was almost perferct as far as fitting for me and I was hitting them great. Also, you paid a few hundred for a set that's now fitted for you= not a waste of money at all. I can't wait to get mine back this week.
  12. As long as you still go regardless, that's what happens. I usually ask a couple of people, but if they're not reliable I always go by my schedule. I am going to set the time and pick the course that I want to play on. I'm a calm guy but I'd be pissed driving 45 minutes or more to accomodate others to have them cancel. If it's someone reliable I'll play wherever. I've actually met playing partners by playing as a single. Either way it's a lack of respect to set any appointment and not cancel with adequat notice if you know you can't make it.
  13. I went to golfsmith about 3 months ago and spent about 2 hours with their "expert" hitting different irons. I ended up purchasing taylor made 2.0s which helped bring my game into the mid to high 90s from the 106 range. I was really excited about them compared to my old set but a buddy i play with who's a 6 handicap kept telling me that they sold me the wrong set because of my height. I took the set to 2 other shops and they confirmed that I was sold a standard set when I'm 6'4" which is way off. They both said that the shaft should be 3/4 inches longer and the lie needs to be 3 degrees upright. I went back and spoke with a manager and basically told him that I am not an expert and that is why I went there figuring with the price that I'm paying for that set and with the time I spent with the guy that they should've sold me the right set. He ended up measuring me and had me hit the hard plastic plate with a ping that was 3 degrees upright and 1/2 inch longer and I was hitting that perfectly in the middle of the white tape that they put on the bottom. All the balls were going straight with a nice tragectory. He actually said he would cover the cost of extending them, changing the degrees and putting oversized grips on them. I am going to check them on the plate to make sure that I am hitting in the middle when i get them because I hear that it's difficult to bend the lie more the 1.5 degrees or 2 and being a cast iron, that they may break by bending them but that's on them if they do. I am getting them back this thursday and looking forward to hitting them. This has caused me not to discontinue making a future purchase there. Hopefully with the right fitted clubs and more practice I can start to get back into the 80s.
  14. Thanks again for the video. I tried it this weekend and it works great.
