  1. No you don't need to add a fairway wood unless you really struggle off the tee with your driver than a 3 wood could come in handy....but if you are a beginner you will more than likely be better off hitting your hybrids...im fairly new to golf and my bag consists of a driver, putter, 4-pw and a lob Wedge...I hardly ever use my 4 iron except on long par 5s so I have no desire to get a fairway wood anytime soon.
  2. Personally I think it'll just take you some time to get used to it....I went from a POS driver to a Diablo Edge and I could hit my POS pretty straight but the Diablo I would slice everytime...it took me about 2 or 3 trips to the range and 3 or 4 rounds to figure it out...My advice would be to slow your swing down dramatically and gradually work it back up as you get used to the club
  3. Lol nice...thanks for the input this is my first year really getting into golf so im not 100% on all the rules...I kinda thought I messed that score up though, just didnt really care because I was playing by myself.
  4. Hit a great drive 280 down the middle of the fairway on a 480-500 yard par 5 today...had a little more than 200 yards left to the hole and I was using clubs I just recently purchased...I sold my old set so the only option I had was the 4 iron that came in the set I bought...Well my first stroke was great, the ball went far and straignt just in the wrong direction and landed in the weeds on the right side of the green lol.... since it was about 105 degrees I really didnt feel like searching for my ball and i was intrigued by how far I actually hit my new 4 iron so I just dropped a new ball from the orignal spot, took my time (which was extremely hard to do today with sweat pouring in my eyes) and ripped it again...this time it bounced in front of the green and landed about 10 feet from the cup, then I sank the putt and even though I wrote down a birdie I was furious that if I wouldnt have shanked my first shot so badly it wouldve been my first eagle....then the last hole came around which is a 288 yd par 4, i had previously drove pin high into the left rough...having that confidence from last time and one hell of a day hitting my driver I drove it right onto the fringe of the green...it was about a 25 ft putt, uphill and to the left and I knew I didnt have much of a shot making it, but of course I rolled it to about 4 in and it just stopped...Those were my only two birdies all day and I shot my best round ever which was an 85 but the only thing I can think about is how I shouldve left today with an eagle under my belt!
  5. I wear oakley gas cans with black iridium polarized lenses...they are perfect
  6. Around here we have a few decent courses that offer specials early in the season or during the winter...usually something like $350 for a two year mo-fri membership...$450 for a two year membership all week
  7. Glad to hear that....thank you!
  8. I just bought a set of Callaway Diablo Edge irons...I havent used them yet but I got them because I read they go far and straight with ease and because I got a great deal on them... But I keep reading about how these clubs are for "beginners"...Im fairly new to golf but I wouldnt put myself into the beginner category because Ive shot back to back 87's at two different courses using Walter Hagen T3 irons I got brand new in an entire set for 170 bucks at Dicks.. What I really dont understand is the whole "workability" thing...when i golf, my main purpose is #1. Hit the fairway, #2. Align myself with the flagstick and hit it as straight for it as possible, and #3. Putt as few times as possible....now call me crazy but if these clubs are supposed to be some of the farthest and straightest hitting clubs out there, why are they supposed to be for beginners...isnt that what everyone is trying to do for the most part? As you get better are you supposed to get clubs that are harder to play with to make the game more challenging? Someone help me out with this...
  9. it varies...sometimes it can start heading for the trees on the right and then tail in towards the end and hit the middle of the fairway...other times its minimal but i would say 9 out of 10 times im heading left. i suppose im closing the face too much? ive changed so many different things with my swing lately its hard for me to tell..
  10. I really started playing golf seriously about 2 months ago...and starting out I had a horrible slice when hitting my driver. Ive put a lot of work into my swing lately and gotten tips here and there and now almost everytime I hit my driver I have a slight to somewhat severe draw but ive learned to play it pretty consistently into the fairway. Im thankful that I almost never slice the ball anymore but sometimes i'll hit it dead straight and because of the way im set up it goes way right of the fairway... does anyone else play like this? and should I settle into just playing a draw when I drive everytime or work on hitting it as straight as possible?
  11. Thanks for all the input guys.... I want to point out, not only are the prices great at this website but the customer service is too...I originally put my home address as my shipping address when I meant to get them shipped to my work (that way I know they get signed for no matter what) and I sent them an email stating my issue...they immediately responded and let me know it wasnt a problem and the shipping address was switched.
  12. For the past year or so I've been working with a complete starter set of Walter Hagen clubs I got from dicks for like $150...then after I hit my friends new Nike driver I decided it was time to upgrade...so in the past month I've purchased a Callaway Diabo Edge driver, a Odyssey White Hot xg #1 putter and now I ordered the Diabo Edge irons... After seeing the huge improvements in my game from the driver and the putter I felt obligated to get new irons too...I went from shooting around 100 to dropping an 87 after my first round with the putter. Now I had no intentions going into it of making an all Diablo Edge set and after I read reviews I had my mind made up on the X20s mainly for the price and reviews...I knew the Diablo Edge irons were probably better fitted for me but I didn't see them in my price range...until last night when I stumbled across Hurricanegolf.com and found a 4-pw set for $359 with free shipping ...it seemed to good to be true and im wondering if it is So im curious if anyone else has bought clubs from this website and if its legit or not...also wondering if anyone has these irons and if so what do you think of them
  13. I got a Callaway diablo edge from the local sports store and an odyssey white hot xg #1 from Dicks...the rest of my clubs are Walter Hagens...I plan on sticking with Callaway and buying a set of irons before the years over and then selling my cheap Hagen set and put that money towards a new bag I love my driver ...it seems to be pretty forgiving and I can hit it a mile sometimes (I hit a drive yesterday that was level with the pin on the left side tall stuff on a 300 yd par 4...although I had a pretty helpful bounce on the fairway)...the putter on the other hand is lightyears better than the one that came with my set...at first I thought clubs didn't really matter and that I could do just as good with any old set but that definently isn't the case
  14. Very true....id still take that over my job any day
  15. Its bad...I got my first cheap set of clubs last year for fathers day but only went maybe 3 times, before that my experience was hitting balls in the backyard for fun. This year though I've been going 2 or more times a week and recently purchased a callaway driver and odyssey putter and have gotten better every week. I went from scoring in the 100's to mid 90's and then posted an 87 yesterday using my new putter for the first time...Everytime I go out I can feel my swing getting better and after the 18th, I never want to stop playing...PGA Tour players are the luckiest dudes on the planet.
