  2. Hi Guys, So I'm at that point where I want someone with a trained eye to see if there is anything that I need to improve my swing, because my swing is getting pretty solid now and I could replicate it pretty much every time. I do not want to introduce any bad habits to my swing. Here's the problem, (I'm sure must people have this problem) I don't want to spend a fortune on lessons! Most lessons are something like $80 for an hour or something. In your guy's experience, where do you go to find lessons for a good price? Is Craigslist a good place to look? Is Golftec a good option?
  3. So my collection of clubs is ALMOST complete! I currently have Callaway Diablo Octane Tour Driver (9.5*) Callaway Diablo Octane Tour Fairway Wood (15*) Mizuno JPX-800 Pro Irons (5i - PW) Callaway X Series Jaws Wedges (52* 56* 60*) Odyssey White Ice #1 Putter The only thing that I am missing now are 2 more hybrids. The only thing is...I do not know which kinds to buy. I do not know what loft to look for, my Wood is 15* and the 5 iron is 26*. What are you guy's advice on this? And also, what kind of hybrids are good? I'm looking to spend around $100 for each hybrid
  4. I'm at the point now where the stock grips on my Callaway X Series Jaws Wedges are getting kind of slippery and losing grip. So I'm in the market for some new grips. The ones that I think I want to get are Golf Pride Tour Velvet BCT Grips. I want something that has a lot of feel on the wedges, and something really tacky. Does anyone have any experience with these grips? What kind of grips do you like to use on your wedges?
  5. It looks like you come over the top on the downswing. Your hands are swinging too fast. Anyone could correct me though, I am still fairly new to golf and trying to learn myself as well. But I have watched enough videos of pros and how they hit. A DTL view would help also.
  6. I only purchased it because it was only 50 bucks and I was hoping I would get used to it since it's my first fairway wood. I hope I could get used to it, because when I hit it solid, it feels great. So back to the initial question. Should I address the ball with the club face slightly open/closed/or neutral? and where should my shoulders be pointing? Thanks mvmac for the article, I will read it when I have more time.
  7. In the first video, it definitely looks like you have a outside to inside swing. Maybe a DTL shot would get a better analysis. The second video looked better in terms of your swing plane. Again, a DTL video would help also.
  8. I just purchased a Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Fairway Wood 16* for 50 bucks on the FogDog Sports website. The only thing was, it is a Draw Shape club. I have never purchased or used a draw shape club before, but because it was only 50 bucks, I went for it. Now that it is here, I am not quite sure exactly how to address the ball. Do I set up normally and the club will naturally make the ball go into a draw pattern? Or do I still set up as if I was hitting a draw? (Club face slightly closed and shoulders pointed slightly right of the target. I am at the point where I can hit all of my irons straight, but can not shape my shots yet. Still trying to get used to the fairway wood. Any advice on this topic would help. Thanks in advance!
  9. Callaway Jaws Wedge 60* I prefer to have my shots land soft on the green
  10. Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I love the visuals. I kind of thought that the next step to improving my swing was to incorporate the hips more in the downswing. Are the hips supposed to start moving forward at the top of the swing? Also, should I feel like I am simply sliding my hips forward or should it feel more like I am shifting my weight to my left foot? Any helpful sources would help!
  11. Hi fellow Golfers! Here is a video of me at the range. I believe I was hitting an 8 iron. I've been playing for about half a year now. I'm at that point where I feel a lot more comfortable with my game and my swing is becoming more repetitive. I was just wondering if you guys could tell if I have any bad habits? It's better to point them out now before I become used to them. (Yes I could even hit it with my gf making fart noises) Thanks in advance!!
  12. Thanks! I think I'm going to get a pair of those soon!
  13. I've seen those Nike Air Range shoes before in store and have tried them out before. They feel VERY Comfortable! I was about to buy them, until I realized that the spikes on the bottom were permanent and that they could not be changed. In your guy's experience, how often do spikes need to be changed? Does that mean that I would need new shoes everytime I need new spikes?
  14. I am in the market for some golf shoes. (My first pair of golf shoes ever) I have flat feet, so I prefer shoes that are more for comfort than for performance. Anyone else out there have flat feet find a pair of shoes that they like? Also, I have a inclination towards Nike apparel if that makes a difference.
  15. +1 for Mizuno JPX 800 and JPX 800 pros This guy has a good review of lots of Mizuno Irons (If you have 10 minutes to spare):
  16. Found this deal on Slickdeals today. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3316454 Read the comments carefully as it seems like you have to cancel your membership before the two free months trial is up, otherwise they would charge you a lot more. So mark your calendars!
  17. This is an easy answer here: JPX-800 Pros.
  18. http://www.rockbottomgolf.com/bridgestone-golf-e5-golf-balls-3-dozen.html?siteID=lw9MynSeamY-WsUvfOqe_sPPYdLLu16PEw Seems like a decent deal. Just recently read an article on Golf Digest which rated different balls of different price range. The Bridgestone e5 and e6 rated the best out of all the balls that range in $20-$30 for a dozen.
  19. Just took a look at the listing on eBay. My gut feeling tells me that they are real. Sometimes it could be too good to be true and that doesn't have to set off reg flags like that. My Mizuno JPX 800 pros have the serial number on the hosel of each iron and it looks like the one that the eBay seller is posting. My experience with dealing with counterfeit items is that if the seller is confident enough to take such a clear picture of the serial numberer other telling feature to determine if it's real or not, the product is real. People could get in a lot of trouble for selling fake products. Also if you look at the sellers feedback rating, he has a pretty reputable rating, and only 1 negative feedback within the last year. He sells a lot of golf equipment too. Seems pretty reputable to me.
  20. You're right about the Mizuno. I went with the JPX-800 Pro. Tested out at the range three times already and already see massive improvement in my game. Shots go further and straighter more consistently. I plan to keep these irons for a while. Switching to these irons also helped me get rid of my wrist pain that I would feel after a round of golf. I think it may have been caused by too many mishit balls with the MP-14 causing the shaft to rattle and creating a lot of stress on my wrist. Best golf purchase so far.
  21. Here is a slow motion version of the same swing: Thoughts?
  22. I am in the market for a new Hybrid. I do not know much about them and need some advice from you educated people. My irons are Mizuno JPX-800 Pro and my longest iron is the 4 iron, which is lofted at 23* the 5 iron at 26* What would you suggest my hybrid be lofted at? The logical answer seems to be 20* but I am not sure. I do not have a wood or a driver yet either, so if any of you can give me some insight on what kind of woods and hybrid I should get based on the irons that I have, it would be much appreciated. Just a side note: I have an inclination towards Callaway drivers (because of the way they look) but any suggest that is not Callaway would be awesome too!
  23. Any advice at all? Anyone? *Crickets Chirping*
  24. I've been using the Brass/Nylon brush made by Frogger and I love it. Everyone should look into getting one. The retractable cord attached to it is a neat feature as well. I appreciate all the tips and advice in this thread. Looks like I will try to remember to keep the head covers off when storing them, because they're not going to bang against each other anyway, so why not leave them off. Head covers only be used for transporting and if I know they'll be banging against each other a lot in the back of the golf cart. As for cleaning them, I'm going to use a wet towel to clean off any debris and dry it off immediately with a dry towel. BTW. I've took the Mizuno JPX 800 pros out to the range twice already. HOLY CRAP! Everyone needs a set of these irons in their bag. Perfect amount of forgiveness with great distance, and it doesn't feel like you're hitting the golf ball with a chunky piece of metal. Even though I am not at the point where I am able to shape my shots yet, I fell like the clubs are able to shape shots really easily. Now off to look for a good Hybrid....My longest iron is the 4 iron. Typically, which hybrid do people bag if their longest iron is a 4 iron, or 23* loft?
  25. I just got a set of Mizuno JPX-800 Pro and took it out to the range for the first time today. I have also been playing golf for 3 months now and need any advice I could get for my swing. I adopt the Reverse K Stance method. Anyone hear of this method before? It doesn't seem to be too popular. Any thoughts on this method? Something I noticed about my swing is that right after contact, my right arm begins to bend. If the Internet is correct, I am supposed to keep my right arm straight after impact right? If so, are there any drills or tips on how I could improve on this? Because it feels to me as if my right arm is straight after impact when I swing. When I slow it down, it is clearly not. (Picture of arm after impact is below) Is my right arm also too bent here? Are there any other thought about my swing? I realize my head moves around a little bit at the top of my backswing. It is a problem I try to fix every time I hit the range. I will appreciate ANY comments you have for my swing. I want my swing to improve more than anything in the world.
