  2. Two options: New Callaway X-18 3-PW $389.99 U.S New Callaway X-20 3-PW $525.00 U.S Looks like the newer model would be an extra $140.00 or so... worth going to the X-20 for this price difference or stick with the X-18's and spend the difference on a good wedge or towards a new driver? PJStyles
  3. Purchasing a new set of Callaway X-20's and wanted to know which configuration makes more sense? I plan on also purchasing a Driver and 5W but would have nothing between 5W and 4I. Any thoughts/feedback would be appreciated. PJStyles
  4. Okay guys...back from Golf Town here in Toronto where I tried the following clubs: - Cobra FP - Big Bertha '06 - Callaway X-20 - Mizuno X-25 I have to say without a doubt, I was hitting the X-20's the best. The guy taped the clubs prior to hitting and wouldn't reveal to me which ones I was hitting. I tried many shots with each of them and as soon as I picked up the X-20 (not knowing it was the x-20), it just felt right and the ball flight was awesome. One thing I did notice was that the balls struck with the X-20 had a higher trajectory than the Cobra's which I prefer in order to stick the balls on the green. I'm sold on the X-20 but the price is just a bit high for my budget. THey are priced at $999.99 CDN here. Anyone know where I might be able to find the set a little cheaper? I was even debating on getting the Big Bertha '06 which I was hitting well and they were priced at $498 CDN. PJStyles P.S - Also tried the Big Bertha '06 Driver and was seriously impressed! I didn't hit a single slice, which is normally the case and the distance was very good.
  5. Actually the Cobra S9 are Super Game Improvement...but the Cobra FP are not... They would fall in the same category as Titleist 775 and are even ranked better according to the Golf Digest ranking for Game Improvement clubs. I guess the main difference is that Titleist 775 and Mizuno MX-25 are forged.... PJStyles
  6. I'm leaning towards the Cobra FP's instead of the S9 because they seem to have more feel in them and less game improvement technology. I want to be able to use these clubs for a long time, especially once I start to shape shots etc... I know price is not a good indication of quality but the lower price has me wondering whether these Cobra Irons are missing something... PJStyles
  7. These are my four choices... I've only recently added the King Cobra's as an option after reading a few pretty impressive reviews today and they too are on Golf Digest's Hot Gold List. They seem priced much lower than the others mentioned but I was wondering if anyone here owns the Cobras and what the differences between these sets are. I'm looking for a Game Improvement Iron Set I can grow into while also getting good feel from the clubs. As I mentioned in a different thread, I normally shoot low 90's and it's now time to purchase. Specifically, what I was hoping to get with this new thread are owners of these sets to provide any feedback they may have. I'll be going to the store today to hit all 4 sets to see which one tends to feel better for me. Any feedback is welcome and appreciated. PJStyles
  8. What are some other previous year game improvement irons that people would recommend and why not the 460 Draw R7 Driver?
  9. Awesome feedback guys... I'll definitely go and try out several different irons. I guess I'm just a little nervous about swing the club in a simulation room :) Sounds silly I know but I'll start looking this week and start trying out different sets. I'm also going to look at some drivers... Thinking of trying the R7 460 Draw and the Titleist 907D1. I'm happy I found this forum... a lot of knowledgeable people on here and again, I appreciate everyone's feedback. PJStyles
  10. So how does getting fitted work? What's the process? Presumably, I still have decide on a set of clubs before I get fitted... so what should I be looking for and how do I go about deciding which club set to get before fitting them? What's the cost with getting clubs fitted?
  11. I've been reading reviews after reviews on a slew of iron sets. I don't know what my handicap is... but I know I normally shoot low 90's on a regular basis. I'm looking for a game improvement set that will also allow me to grow into them as my scores get better. I'm currently using Palmer Original II Iron's. My iron shots are all pretty straight but just can't seem to nail down the distances yet. Ironically, I seem to be getting too much distance from a lot of my iron shots. For example, I will use my PW for 145yd shots, 9I for 150-155yd etc... I believe the reason for my distance is that I like to hit the ball on the way down rather than a swooping action to get under the ball. I think I've narrowed down my search to the clubs below: Mizuno MX-25 Callaway X-20 Taylor Made R7 CGB Max Titleist 775 CB Can anyone make any suggestions? Also, what type of shaft should I be looking for? Up until now my shafts are steel regular flex. With so many options on the market, I'm so confused!! :( Also, I'm regular height (6ft tall), should I still consider getting my clubs fitted? Any info would you be appreciated. P.S - Just purchased new Taylor Made R7 Draw Driver.. will report back on how it feels and the results... excited about it! PJStyles
  12. I work as a Portfolio Manager in the Toronto area... Golfing is my passion outside of work and hopefully one day I can retire young and hit the links every single morning! :) lol PJStyles
  13. This debate will go on forever, even well after Tiger breaks Jack's record of major championships - the reason? Different era. People will always make up reasons/excuses as to why one is better than the other. Unfortunately, I do not think a fair comparison can ever be made... Let's just all agree that they are two of the best golfers of all-time. PJStyles
  14. Great to see more Torontonians here! I'm in the Oakville area... I had been playing golf for 3-4 years but took a 3 year hiatus due to a neck/shoulder injury. Started playing again this year but have only been out 4 times shooting low 90's. In the market for a new set of clubs so if you know anyone locally that offers great service and pricing... please let me know! PJStyles
