  2. Looking for reviews on the Garmin G6 gps. I have had a skycaddie SGX since last September and am totally dissatisfied with it. (won't upload at times, navigation from screen to screen is difficult, and now the joystick button fell off). I will not be renewing my SGX subscription this Sept. All you golfers with the G6's, what's your opinion of the G6? TIA
  3. 2 - 2.5 - 3 Scores??? Nope, inches of snow we've got in the past 3 days. My home course was "almost" bare of that horrible white scourge that's been hanging around so long this spring, now the past 3 days has buried it again. No temps in the 50's for the next 7-10 days. Still haven't swung a club since last November. Does it sound like I'm whining???? It should, I am. Maybe I'll be able to get out in May.
  4. Drove by my home course this morning. I can almost see ground peeking thru the snow. Haven't swung a club since November. It's all so depressing.
  5. OK, been reading this thread for a while, my turn. At the end of last year had a revelation and found out trying to kill the ball was killing my distance. Took a more relaxed, and slower swing. My distances (and accuracy) have improved. Driver 230-245 3W 215 5W 185-190 3H ZERO- that club and I are not on speaking terms, it stays in the bag. 4H 175 5H 165 6I 155 7I 145 8I 135 9I 125 PW 115 GW 95 SW 80
  6. Started playing about a 1 1/2 ago. Didn't take long to break into the 90's. I've been playing 3-5 times a week this past summer and my scores have slowly came down. Last August I finally scored in the 80's. Right now I'm averaging around 90-92 on my home course. Best round of the year (or ever actually) was an 85. I felt like the priest on Caddy Shack that round and could do no wrong. My worst shot for the day was hitting a t shot into the swamp on a par 3. Dropped my ball in the drop zone (about 85 yds from the pin) and sank it from that distance and saved par.
  7. Shot an 89 today. Excellent round for me. On the front 9 (the longest and hardest of the course) I had a 44. Everything was working well. 6 GIR and hit 7 of 9 fairways. However, the back 9 was a different story. My driver was no longer my friend. Luckily, my irons and putting helped me salvaged a 45. All in all a very good round for me. Now if we could get the temps down a bit.
  8. Played a new course with my Son on Saturday. Much more difficult than my home course. There is water or swamp on all but 3 of the holes. The rough is so tall balls are easily lost. But the greens.............. in my short golfing career I have never seen greens with slopes, undulations, tiers like these. Two putts???? Not for me!! Three putting was the norm. After we got back to the clubhouse I asked if during the wintertime does the club let the kids slide downhill on the green? Add all that to the gale force winds we had on Saturday (couldn't even wear a hat) and I shot a 103. Can't wait to go back and try again!
  9. Shot a 95 on Saturday. My iron play was fairly consistent for the entire round. However, on the front 9 I couldn't hit a ball off the tee to save my life, but the putter was working well. On the back 9 I figured out my tee shots and hit the ball well but couldn't putt worth a darn. Oh well, if it was easy it wouldn't be any fun.... right?
  10. After feverishly working on my honey-do list I was able to sneak out of the house for a quick 9 at my home course. Started off strong and played very well (at least for me) the entire nine. Shot a personal best of 42. Had 3 birdie opportunity putts (all missed). Ended up with 4 pars, 4 bogeys and 1 double. An excellent day indeed!! Also started hitting my 3H well. I haven't been on speaking terms with that club since I put it in my bag.
  11. Shot a 94 on Saturday. Started terrible. Drives all over the place, inconsistent irons, and my putter felt like a brick taped to the end of a stick. The back nine it all came together and I shot a 44. My best ever for that 9 holes. Absolutely smashed a couple of drives. 250+ yds and straight. Irons worked and had no long (40-50 ft.)putts. With Saturdays score of 43 still in my mind, I head back out yesterday figuring I'll really put up a good score. I figured wrong. Grrrr!
  12. Had a great round on Friday afternoon a scored my first 80's. 41 on the back and 48 of the front. Hope to get out tonight and see if I can keep it going.
  13. Shot a 92 yesterday. Very good round for me. My irons were working quite well, however my driver might just as well of been left in the bag. Had 3 very makeable birdie putts and missed them all. Ended up with 4 pars for the day. Had I not fell apart on #9 and kept my ball dry (twice in the water), and that defective bunker on #12 (you cannot get out of it with one shot LOL), I might have shot my first 80's. Oh well, get 'em next time.
  14. Our local course opened up on Thursday, but we were quite busy at work, so I had to postpone getting sick until Friday. Shot a 93, but being very new to this game, I was almost ecstatic. Scored a couple of pars and choked on 4 birdie putts. Had very good drives, my iron game is coming along and generally played most of my golf in the short grass. The big problem with yesterday was the greens (I should call them "browns") The grass is just starting to grow and they have not been mowed this year which made them about as slow as if someone poured glue on them. Had one putt about 70 ft. from the flag. I literally could not hit the ball hard enough to get it close to the hole. Ended up 4 putting. LOL All in all it was a great day to be out there and if I get enough done this morning, I'll be out there this afternoon.
