  1. Caddyshack, I was in the same boat as you where in back in Sept. when the 10 series just came out. I previously had the tour edge bazookas ( super game improvment) I was feeling a need to upgrade, I didn't real have to but once it was in my head, it became a losing battle with the tour edges. Anyways I demoed both the I and the G fromt he 10 series. The I thought the G's head was to big and felt like a super game pimprovement iron, disn't feel like I was upgrading from the tour edges. So then I tried the I's and the head was a bit to small for me felt to much like a blade to me. So my fitter said try the I5's and I did and they where a perfect match for me, they kinda sit right in the middle of the 2 G deries clubs. I am not sure if you can still get them new or not, but if you can and before you buy take a look at them, you might be surprised.
  2. Does the DSG on the CG12, only come on the club that rusts? Or can you get it in chrome or black pearl
  3. I believe the 2 week rule for reservations only applies during the winter months , when the prices are higher. I think they act like the rest of florida golf and charge more during the northern cold months, for people like us making treks down. Not that disney has a quiet time.
  4. Mine was not the X hot, just the x version. I got mine just as the x hot's where coming out last year, so I am not sure if it was an 06 or 07 to be honest. But it was the model that was just before the x hot
  5. I was in your same spot about a month ago. I had a callaway x 3wood. I loved it off the tee but I could never get it off the deck. So I was going to florida earlier this month for a golf trip, and went and tried the g10 3 wood, so I bought it with the pro launch red shaft, and it was significantly better than my callaway. So I am very happy with the Ping. I know when I posted the same question a while back others stated they could not hit the callaway off the deck either. Not sure if my post helps you at all, other than a vote for the ping
  6. Thanks crafty, thats what I was thinking. I had an aldila nvs shaft on my old original sasquatch driver and this never happened. It started with the G10. I just wanted to confirm my thoughts and didn't want to sound like an idiot when I brought my club to golfsmith and ask to be put on the monitor.
  7. I am not sure if this should be in the equipment or swing sections, so mods if need to be moved please do so. First off I am not a very accomplished golfer but I hold my own for how much I play. I got a Ping G10 10.5 * driver last fall, and have only played with it a few times due to the chicago weather. But I just got back from a long weekend in florida, where I golfed 5 times. Now my question is I am getting no roll at all off of my drives, and most times rolling a few feet backwards from where it landed. Now granted I am hiting it consistantly 235-250 straight, so I am not really complaining but would like to get some roll out of it, ball actually drops straight down. This is the only club in my bag this happens to, I have the ping g10 3 wood and it doesn't happen to this club (but has a different shaft) Now the driver is equipped with the V2 high launch shaft, is this the reason for the no roll or backspin, or is there some other reason. Thanks for any help as to what part of the equipment or swing is causing this, as I am not versed enough to know yet. I am happy with the driver but as I progress I would like to see some roll, so if it is the shaft may have to switch it out or something. If it helps its a stiff shaft and my ss is around 98 mph. Thanks
  8. Well we just got back. and it was a great trip. The Disney courses where a bit disappointing, especially if I would of paid full price for them. I would have to say the Osprey was my favorite then Palm then Magnolia. Panther lake at OCN was a GREAT track by far one of my most favorite courses I have played. It was in great shape, and just an all around fun track. Southern Dunes was fun also and a value at $70 with a cart.
  9. I decided to go with a G10 3 wood with the pro alloy red shaft.
  10. those that are suggesting the r7 are you saying last years or the new CGB one. Price wise I hope your suggesting last years model. LOL
  11. I am confirmed for the magnolia and the osprey on Friday the 8th. Need to call tomorrow and book the palm for Saturday the 9th. The green fees are normally $169 due to the vacation club getting them for $89 a round. So it really makes it a hard deal to pass up. I didn't really want to play 3 disney courses but at this price I survive, and considering it will probably be below zero at home, I'll live with it. Thanks again for all the suggestions, after I return I will comment on each track.
  12. Thanks that was my first choice was the g10 4 wood, but none of my local GS or Golf galaxies carry it, they say its a special order. Where as they have 3 and 5's on the rack.
  13. Thanks Guys, going to the golfsmith tonight and see what I like if not I will check the other suggestions. Its middle of winter so no big rush except for the florida golf trip the first week of Feb. But if I don't have a new 3 wood by then no biggie.
  14. We have one here in the Western burbs of Chicago, and it is a great alternative when its below zero outside. And a long as your swinging the clubs thats a good thing in my opinion. I agree with the above comments. Fairly accurate, chipping is a bit odd, because you can't chip as you would outside. The only real complaint I have is the putting. Its nearly impossible to hole a putt. The one by me has a gimmie range of 6 ft I think, but your puting against a wall, from 11ft away fromt he wall so its very different. But go have fun and enjoy
  15. Thanks for the replies, still undecided. Gapwedge can you still get those new or do I have to look for a used one.
  16. First off thanks for taking the time to read my post, and offering anyhelp you can. I am looking into getting a new 3 wood. I currently have a Callway X 3 wood ( not the hot, the original "06 I believe) I like it off the tee but could never hit it off the deck. I know the response will be go to your pro shop and hit a bunch, and I will but I have some questions as I am not an equipment expert. Also my local golf shop that fitted me for everything has just gone out of business as he could not compete with the internet and the larger box stores I guess. One question is am I looking for a shallower face to help me get it up in the air, and easier to hit? Right? I currently have a Ping G10 driver in 10.5 * with a stiff v2 shaft. my swing speed is 98-100 mph. I really like the ping driver except I am not liking the v2 shaft as I believe it is ballooning on my too much as the ball just launches too high and drops staright down. BUt thats another story. I don't get much roll out of it. So with having this driver I am leaning towards the ping G10 3 wood, and also the taylormade burner. The burner has me a little skeptical regarding the light shaft. I have read complaints about this causing a high ball flight. I will be traveling to a golfsmith and trying out these clubs, are there any others I should be looking at. My old pro knew me and my swing and would make suggestions and then we would try it out. I don't want to seem like some yahoo off the street. Thanks for any help or tips in making my purchase easier. Man I really miss the local guy that just knew me and said here this might work for you here try it...
  17. Yes I spoke to someone on the phone at disney golf and they said 14 days in advance. I also read it somewhere on their site. The way it works with the DVC membership is you pay for a DVC membership golf card and the cost is $50 and its good for a year. This entitles you to discounted rates, some are up to 50% off. Like right now its a slower time all the tracks are $50. When we are going I believe they are all 74-79 bucks a round. The discount applies to your entire foursome. So in my opinion its makes it a hard to beat deal.
  18. We have almost all our tee times set. Thursday Southern dunes ( booked) Fri and Sat Disney Courses, LBV, Osprey and Magnolia ( can't book til 2 weeks prior) Sun Orange County National Panther Lake. (booked) The reason for all the Disney Courses is I am a Disney Vacation Club member and we get 50% off greens fees. So I can't beat them for the price.
  19. Well the shaft now doesn't have a sticker on it, so no part number to confim with Aldila. So no luck there. The ebay seller has been very helpful as much as he can be in this case. Golfsmith will not replace it with another proto. They are or are willing to replace with a lesser expensive, as what they tell me equivalnt worth. They will not give me a proto because they are saying mine is not a real proto. So I am back to square one. They did show me a proto shaft there and the inner wall thickness was thicker on the golfsmith one verses mine. But since golfsmith took off the sticker or there never was one we can't confirm if it is a fake or possibly a manufacturing flaw. Every else on the two shafts matched perfectly except the thickness. So we are back to he said she said again....LOL Thanks for all the comments, and suggestions. BTW this was not for my Ping driver, it was for a Hibore Xl, that was going to try and be resurrected with a new shaft. I just should of gone to my usual local club fitter but he is between store locations so it was either Dicks or Golfsmith, so I chose GS.
  20. I was a bit confused also, so called back and said they would give me a 60-80 dollar shaft, because they can do that without raising any flags, where as the 170 proto would require managerial approval or something. Going to wait til I get home and see if there is a part number on shaft. If there is they will be replacing it with a proto. but if there isnnt and we are back to he said she said I will cut my losses and at least get an NV shaft out of it.
  21. You may want to stay tuned to this one, it may get interesting....LOL I just talked to aldila. He said to look for a sticker on the tip that would have a part number. So I will have to look when I get home. I kinda remember a sticker onit, but will have to call back and verify part number. The customer service rep, said he had heard of the ebay seller name, but is not on their auth list but may buy under a different name. Secondly I talked to golfsmith, and here is where it gets fishy. I think I am dealing witha yahoo ( to use a nicer term) he told me they can't replace it under warranty due to it being a fake but they will replace it and asked what shaft I wanted. So I am not clear as if they will give me a VS proto or what. I wanted to get home and see if I can find the part number. My thought now is that he may have removed the sticker to put the head on.
  22. Thats what I was thinking, I need to grab the shaft and see if there is a serial number and see if I can get a hold of aldilia. Unfortunately Iam not a shaft expert so I cannot tell, I can just go by what people tell me.
  23. Ok, here is my scenario. I bought a proto VS shaft on ebay from a reputable seller on ebay he has many thousands of positive feedback. I took the club to my local golfsmith to have a driver re shafted. Supposeably as he was re shafting the tip splintered and broke off. ( it was the correct size tip for the club). The club maker at golfsmith said he has only ever seen this with counterfeit shafts, or some pull outs, and he tells me this is a fake shaft. So I email the seller kindly and tell him basically the same as above, and ask if they are fake or real and what the story is. He assured me they are real and gets delivered from his aldila rep and so on. So now I am stuck in the he said she said part of the story. Does anyone know for sure if there is a way I can confim if its legit or not? Or am I just out the money.... Thanks
  24. Thanks for al the input, and because of that I htink our line up has changed. Both OCN courses ( anyone know if they do a deal if youplay both tracks?) Southern Dunes Mystic dunes Then either champions gate or a Diney course (osprey I think).
  25. I was in your shoes not long ago, and while at bestbuy looking at all the tv's and trying to make a decision on what looked better it was between the LG and a samsung model. So I called my wife over that was looking at other things, and asked her what one looked clearer and more crisp and right away she said the LG. That was my thought also, they where close but the LG was just a nbit brighter and clearer. Note that this was for an LCD tv, because I knew it would be going in a bright room so the decision was already made for LCD. We could not be happier, with our choice and the Lg's where less than the other name brands, so we saved a bit. But then that all went to the HDMI cables, that are all needed to enjoy the high quality. So in your budget I would allow for 150 -200 for cables.
