Yes please let there be no ambiguity about this. Lowering the loft with the Taylormade hosel system with open it and raising the loft will close it. Anyone who tells you they're getting results that say otherwise probably are causing those results with a change in their swing. If you look at the club at address and then change the loft and view the club at address again you will find that the club will look consistent with the changes that I have described.

Lower opens the face. Higher closes it.

What shots do you have in the bag?
gordo865 replied to Jimdangles's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I've actually gotten the flop shot down pretty well with my 60 degree. It's become a very useful tool in my arsenal (or lack there of). My bump and run is pretty rough. I don't really practice it too much. Flop shots get a lot of work because I chip golf balls in my back yard with my lab. She chases them down and brings them back to me. It's done wonders for my short game. I can slice a shot like hell if I want to. My miss is a hook but when I try to do a controlled draw it just gets ugly and goes straight right (I'm a lefty). Punching a shot out I don't work on too much either but I usually go with a 4 or 5. -
Adjustments on TaylorMade RBZ driver??
gordo865 replied to dlance's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
When you raise or lower the loft you're also opening and closing the face. You raise the loft; you close it. You lower the loft; you open it. Whatever degree amount that you change the loft just double that amount for how much you're changing the face angle. So if you lower the club 1 notch to .75 degrees lower then you're opening the face 1.5 degrees. Hope that helps. -
Where did you find that chart? Did you make that or is that posted somewhere?

Hey guys haven't been able to play much golf lately due to time and money constrictions but I went to the driving range for the first time in over a month in a half the other day and tried to assess the damage to my swing in the time off from golf. I felt like I hit the ball pretty well for the most part but there were definitely plenty of shots I was less than pleased with as you'll see. Took a couple videos of the Driver and 6 iron as usual.

If it was the full-swing brand monitor which is the one we have at the Dick's where I work then anything that starts out left of the yellow line goes left and if it starts right it goes right. Funny thing is the tee is about 4 inches to the right of the yellow line so if you hit it dead straight it will tell you that you hit a small fade. It's pretty much worthless at reading side spin.

MC Selection?? Let me know what you play.
gordo865 replied to Kansas's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
The S56's are the most recent ones in that line. I've heard mixed reviews on those ones but the majority seems to lead towards the "meh they're alright I guess" type response. The Mizuno MP-59's are crazy forgiving being a muscleback/half cavity type iron and is butter soft. The MC's from Taylormade are what I'm playing right now but if I had known I would have been able to get a PUD from Mizuno 3 weeks before hand I wouldn't have bought the MC's. The Razr X forged I can't say I've tried. Haven't found a lefty anywhere. The Titleist AP2's are a pretty good club as well. Not quite in the Realm of those irons I just listed but they're pretty close and I liked them. But every person has a different preference so don't let any negative reviews rule out a club for you. For all you know you could try one and go "holy shit I will never play another iron again....forever" where as someone might have said it was of quality closer to -
For some reason most monitors I've encountered anywhere add about 10-15 yards to the carry for irons depending on how fast you swing, but drivers and fairways will be pretty accurate in terms of distance. I can hit a 6 iron about 185 if I'm fired up but it's usually in the 175-180 range. On the launch monitor at work I hit a 6 iron about 190-195 and I have gotten it up to 200 carry before. What type of launch monitor was at this particular store?

Vintage Crown Royal bag .. ??

This doesn't seem entirely like an appropriate thing to post given the fact that this isn't a marketplace posting and that he's trying to find out how much it's worth. So tell me what the purpose is in asking how much someone wants to sell something for when he just asked how much it was worth. -
Playing the back tee's, when to move
gordo865 replied to Ctp722's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
The thing is that I used to play the closer tees until a friend of mine kept egging me on to play from the tips so we did for the first time an I played awesome. -
Playing the back tee's, when to move
gordo865 replied to Ctp722's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I noticed that I played better from the tips actually. I'm about the same length off the tee and I felt that I didn't have to shape my shots as much when hitting from the tips as well as I didn't have to worry as much about control. I can just open it up and let it rip. The fairway usually narrows a lot the closer to the green you get at most of the courses I play so playing from the back tees really helped me actually play better. -
That depends. I would recommend going somewhere where there is a launch monitor and hitting it a few times and figure out what to do based on your numbers.

Nike Method Concept Putter - what do you tihnk?
gordo865 replied to TheGeekGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
That or after Tigers endorsements all walked on him he decided to be extra nice to Nike for not haha. -
I agree but it's not like it's the type of thing that is gonna make someone go from slicing it into the woods to hitting it dead straight. You still have to be able to hit the ball well and consistently in order for the adjustable factor of a club to take effect.
-
It's not like you adjust the club for every shot. You go out on the range and see how you're hitting it that day and if you're not getting the ball flight you want you can make an adjustment. And let's keep in mind it's meant to TUNE. Not be a cure for a slice or a hook. At most with the RBZ you can only open or close the face 3 degrees. Think about how miniscule 3 degrees is for a second. Another thing is that a lot of these pro golfers have these tour vans and they can get this super custom fit club for them. The average joe doesn't have a tour van but an adjustable club helps fine tune the club to be exactly what you need. Most people I know or have heard of will change the settings when they first buy the club to be the way they like it and then never change it again. I for one have an R11s and have it set to 8.25 degrees of loft and have the sole plate in the first open position and the 10 gram weight in the toe. So I've got my face open 3 degrees which is nice because I have a tendency to pull it a little but and that helps me keep it slightly more manageable if one gets away from me. That's the way I set it when I bought it and it hasn't changed.

Think of it like trying to slice a loaf of bread by hand. You're trying to get each slice to be exactly .25" inches thick. If you put that in a bread slicer you know you'll get that exact thickness and you'll get it in a much more consistent patter than if you did it with a knife by hand. We call this innovation. In other words having an adjustable club makes it so you don't have to try and close or open it with your hands. It does it for you.....
-
The way the club works if you change the loft by moving the clubhead to a different position on the FCT sleeve then you also change the face angle.
-
When you go up in loft; you close the face. When you go down; you open it. And when you go up or down in loft your changing the face angle double the amount that you're changing the loft. So if you raised the loft .75 degrees then you'd be closing the face 1.5 degrees. Raise the loft 1.5 degrees then you'd close it 3 degrees.

I'm right there with you bud. I usually shoot in that same area in the low to mid 90's and the other day I went and played awesome compared to how I usually do. I was with a friend and we just kind of goofed off and hurried the last 3 holes and didn't keep track of score because it was already pretty much sundown when we got to the 16th tee but I was shooting a 70 through 15. The last remaining holes were a par 3, 5 and then a par 4. And with the way I was playing I think I earned the right to give myself a a low 80's score. I hadn't shot a single double all day. I lost a ball trying to cut a shot around a dog leg on the 5th tee box and cut it too much but then hit a second tee shot then wedged on to the green and somehow sank what had to have been at least a 40 foot putt. I suck at putting so that was very exciting for me haha. But on the front nine I shot a 43. Hit 4/7 fairways and 4/9 GIR. Still had 19 putts though. I was able to hit the green inside of 100 yards pretty much everytime which was also huge for me. Now if I can just learn to do that and drop it in close so I can subsidize my putting ability haha. But that's good to hear someone else making progress like me. Keep it up.

Maybe I'll record some videos of me chipping, pitching, and putting then haha.
