  1. All very true. My experience about 6 months ago; have used graphite shafted irons for the last 18 years and really liked them. Was fitted for a set of Callaway RAZR HLs and was ready to buy the graphite set but the Callaway fitter had me hit all the steel shafts which I didn't care for until I hit the TrueTemper GS-95 steel shaft in a reg flex. For me it was much smoother and explosive than the graphite. I ordered them with the GS-95 and have not regretted it. Just my 2 cents but always keep an open mind about buying your equipment.
  2. I put a 5h in my bag a few months ago, best thing I ever did. I carry a driver, 3 wood (15*), 3h (19*), 4h (22*), 5h (25*), 6-9i, pw,aw,sw 58*w. Very happy with my set up now. I also carried a 5w but found I hit my 3h the same distance. Just my 2 cents.
  3. 18 handicap here, 15* 3 wood, 19*, 22*, 25* hybrids, 6-9i, pw,aw,sw,58*, but hey I'm old!
  4. This doesn't answer your question, but I love my Clicgear 3. I bought a reconditioned unit that looked brand new and a year later is still prefect.Their web site shows $139 shipped free, tough to beat! http://www.clicgearusa.com/Clicgear_Reconditioned_Cart_p/a-cgc311-blk.htm IMHO no one will tell you they don't like the cart they just spent $200 on.
  5. I was fitted for a set of RAZR HLs (SGI irons) and had then fitted with SG-95 reg shafts. They were bent 2* up and I love the way they feel. They have really helped me improve. I also bought a slightly used set of Black X (GI irons) and need to bend them 2* up as well. I have them for when I am a bit better, but at the range I feel I hit them as well as my HLs. My 2 cents on all the different models.... marketing / money / profit.... isn't that why the TM marketing guru went to Callaway? Profit is good, it keeps businesses operating and allows competition and choice to the masses.
  6. I was having trouble with my 10.5* R9. I was all over the place and getting worse. I read a few articles about 12* drivers putting less spin on the ball causing a straighter ball flight so I started looking for a used one to try. I had a set of Corbras years ago and always liked them. I found a 350SS King Cobra, graphite reg flex (like the one shown in the post above). I don't believe I hit the ball any shorter and they are much straighter and the slightly smaller head suits my eye much better. Great club, I paid about $45 in like new condition.
  7. I have to agree that these XLs have helped me lower my scores, but only by about 2 strokes right now. I have used them for about 10 rounds and I do very much like the way the swing and strike the ball. I was fitted and ended up with 2* up and TT GS-95 shafts. I came from Ping Zing 2 graphite but hit these HLs much better. I however only hit the 8i about 140 yards right now.
  8. I was fitted for a set about 3 months ago and I have to say I love them. I hit them sweet and they make me feel I can really play this crazy game. I'm an 18 hc and came off a set of Ping Zing 2 w/graphite shafts. I really thought I would always play graphite but during the fitting I also tried the std steel and then the True Temper GS-95 (reg flex) shaft. The GS-95 far and away beat the other shafts, I am extremly happy with my new sticks. I play TM hybrids and only purchased the 6-9 and 4 wedges all bent 2* up. Love'em!!!! I can honestly say after a few months (playing once a week) they have taken 2 strokes off my round (and we are still playing winter golf). I am breaking 90 more often now.
  9. I hate to give a low handicapper any advice.... so I won't! But.... I know exactly what you mean! I recently read a short article where they asked Bubba Watson what his swing thoughts were about chipping.. He said he was always and still is afraid of the same things we are afraid of, fat hits, duffs, etc. To fix those fears he said he just wants to hit down on the top of the ball and drive it into the ground.... So much for having the "pro" swing thought. I have tried it and it has helped, worth a shot!
  10. I have been using the Super Stroke Fatso for about a year. Love it, will never go back to a slimmer grip. Lots of folks start to make fun of it until I let them try it. They ALL are amazed at how "natural" their stroke feels. As far as carrying it, I made a small add-on for my ClicGear, 9like the water bottle holder) works great.
  11. Had a Callaway fitting a few months ago. I had been playing Ping Zing 2 std L/L (black dot) with graphit shafts (reg flex). I wanted another set of game improvement irons so demoed the HLs and was fitted. Started with the graphite shafts and the fitter was able to move my shots from hard right to hard left with a few minor adjustments. Found my set up than he advised I try a steel shaft (the True Temper std shaft that comes in the HLs), they were nice but not as nice as the graphite. He then had me try the True Temper GS-95 (reg flex). What a huge difference from the graphite. Just felt the ball was being struck so much better. I bought the 6-9 and 4 wedges all with TT GS-95 reg shafts, std length and 2* upright. I couldn't be happier, fitting was the big key. I love these things. Still working out some distances but I can now pick a club, aim at the target 9 not always hit, but...) and hit the ball with confidence. Well worth the money. I'm 62 and am not going to try to change my swing this late in life, so bought clubs that fit my swing.
  12. Just sold my TM SuperFast 5 wood. Found I was useing it on only one hole. Now carry a TM R-9, TM Burner 3 w, TM 3, 4, 5 Burner hybrids. Best thing I ever did.
  13. Hello from Christchurch, New Zealand! Have an index of 17 right now. I guess that means I ALMOST know what I'm doing. There are good days and bad, but all the days are fun. Belong to a club here in Rangiora (on the South Island). Moved here 11 years ago from New York. Looking forward to being part of this forum.
