  1. I last review I see is the Bobby Jones hybrid review from December. Has other reviews been added since then? If so, how do I access them?
  2. I got a SkyCaddie SG4 for Christmas and got the Sky Golf Leather Holster (no belt clip) along with it. However, the device won't sit in the holster right without removing the battery cover and the holster doesn't seem to provide much protection - no padding and nothing to protect the screen. Basically, it is one of the poorest excuses for an accessory I've seen in quite some time. So, here is a question for you SG4 owners. Have you found a generic or after-market case that provides more protection? Or perhaps one made for another device that has a similar form factor? I'm wanting to carry it on my belt and perhaps clip it to my bag also. Any and all suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!
  3. This is the problem. Even sellers with lots of positive feedback are selling fakes now. In most cases, they don't even realize they are not the genuine article because they acquired them thinking they were real. I was just in Beijing and I ran across tons of fakes clubs in the shops there. And the funny thing is they claim they are real ("These real...hit ball real good"), but then come down in price big time during negotiations. It is almost an inside joke that everything is a cheap copy. BTW, all Brands were equally represented. Like I said, I'm sticking with Ping from now on.
  4. I don't disagree. And how can I considering the bounce on my 58 is 8 degrees?
  5. Bounce is an individual thing and it depends on how you typically use each wedge and the conditions that you typically find on the courses you play most often. For instance, using a lob with 4 degrees of loft from green side bunkers containing sand that is typically used by most golf courses (that don't host pro tour events) is not a recipe for success. However, from the fairway, it would be money.
  6. This why I generally prefer Ping (although I've strayed lately). You can check the SN's before you purchase by contacting Ping's customer service number. They can also tell you the specs the last time they touched them (which is key since Ping won't do work on a club if someone else has altered them). If the seller won't provide the SN or you don't get a response when asking for it, then run away as fast as you can no matter how cheap the price. Also, under no circumstances and without exception, NEVER EVER buy clubs from a seller located in Asia (especially China). Knuckle heads doing that and then dumping their mistakes back onto the market are why we are seeing an increase in this sort of thing.
  7. You really can't go wrong with Pings, but they are a bit pricey. My Dad bought the new Wilson Staff Di7 irons and he loves them. And they are very reasonably priced for a new set.
  8. Three wedges with 48, 54, and 58 degrees of loft.
  9. The new color codes are already on the Ping web site and incorporated into their WEB-FIT process. There is no mention of them limiting it to the newer models. However, to be sure, you could call their customer service line. If they are following the new guidelines with older sets, then as always they will track the exact lie adjustments by each club's serial number, which becomes key now that there are different versions of the same code depending on when the work was done on the club by Ping.
  10. In the December issue of Golf Magazine (for those of you who don't subscribe), there is an article regarding changes that Ping has made to its color code system. This is huge since they are even changing some of the existing color code lie angles... Color Code --> Old Lie Angle --> New Lie Angle Maroon --> 5* Up --> 4.5* Up Silver --> 4* Up --> 3.75* Up White --> 3* Up (no Change) Green --> 2* Up --> 2.25* Up Yellow --> New Code 1.5* Up Blue --> 1* Up --> .75* Up Black --> Standard (No Change) Red --> 1* Flat --> .75* Flat Purple --> New Code 1.5* Flat Orange --> 2* Flat --> 2.25* Flat Brown --> 3* Flat (No Change) Gold --> 4* Flat --> 3.75* Flat
  11. Hell YES. Otherwise, I get no golf stuff...just Home Depot gift certificates and slipper socks.
  12. I've recently become enamored with the TopFlight D2 Feel. It is as long as any ball I've ever played, holds it line amazingly well in the wind, and has just enough spin to hold greens. I can't wait until "The Gamer" comes out, which supposedly has all of the great features of the D2 with more premium ball like spin.
  13. I have a 54* RAC TP with 10 degrees of bounce and a 58* RAC TP with 8 degrees of bounce. I also use my i3+ PW quite a bit depending on the lie and the amount of green I have to work with. With the set above, I am currently experimenting with more bounce in both my wedges since I moved to Illinois from Arizona. On desert courses, you tend to find yourself with tight lies more often than not. Up here, with the deeper rough around the greens and off the fairways, I'm finding that a little bounce on your wedges is a good thing. Of course, the best solution would be to hit fairways and greens more often, but that is still a work in progress.
