I understand that in order to get an "official" handicap you need to submit your scores for rounds played on an ongoing basis, and have a couple of beginner questions:
What happens if, say, things are going so poorly on a particular hole that in the interest of fast play and not holding up the group you pick up and do not hole out - can you enter a certain maximum number of strokes for that hole as your score (or somehow record a "no score" for that hole at all)?
Similar to the above, what if some situation turns up which you are unsure how to handle under the rules, what penalties might apply, etc - can you again enter a maximum score (or no score at all) for that hole?
I live very close to a 9 hole par 3 "pitch and putt" course which I know has USGA course/slope ratings - does that indicate that scores generated there are valid for submission for handicap calculation? Do I need a scorecard signed by an opponent (most people there are playing VERY casually)?
Thanks in advance.
