  1. Swing looks really good man. You look really relaxed at address. Hope you keep hittin it better and better!
  2. Haha thanks man. Like the story about the gravel green :D Yeah my hitting area is kinda turning into a dust bowl and getting taken over by lumber. Makes hitting off a nice grassy fairway seem so easy though!
  3. Ouch tough scores. Do you think he maybe should hold off from competing in tournaments yet? Or is it best to just get the experience in? I wonder. Seems like a nice enough guy, wish him the best of luck. Having been putting in serious hours into golf myself this summer, I'm starting to realize just how hard what he's trying to do is. He's probably just realizing now too.
  4. Thought I'd update my swing video. I just started my second month of evolvr. Getting a lot out of it and feeling good about the changes I've been making. My ball striking has been getting better even while changing things up. Right now I'm working on more of an inside takeaway with my hands, and not lifting my right foot through impact.
  5. No problem at all. Wow great videos, thanks Beachcomber and Erik. Lots more to work on! I've never thought about the right arm being involved in backswing. Great stuff. Back to the net...
  6. Okay, been working hard, making progress. I joined Evolvr recently and got my first critique. Great tips so far! Mostly focused on my stance at address, and taking my hands inside on the backswing. Also getting my right forearm straighter at the top of my backswing. I also had some breakthroughs on my own. I've been struggling with an extremely bad push slice with my woods and longer irons. Couldn't figure out what was causing it and how to stop it. Finally figured out that I was rotating my left forearm and pronating my left wrist during my backswing. This was opening up the clubface and I was not getting the clubface square by impact. I now take a fairly strong grip, and make sure to not rotate my left forearm at all during backswing. Magic! The push slice is gone. Anyways, I'm going to keep uploading videos as I go through the evolvr lessons to document my progress.
  7. Thanks for takin the time Nevrino. I knew something looked wrong about my backswing, but wasn't sure what exactly. Going to nip this tendency in the bud.
  8. You and me both. Hit a jumbo bucket at the range today. Started with my 9 iron and was hitting every club great till I got to my low irons. Then the dreaded push slice started coming out bad. I had a list jotted down with tips to stop it: Stand further from the ball Don't stand so straight up Slide hips Finish Tall Really bring left shoulder back But none of these were helping. Then I tried the drill where you put a tee in each armpit and try to swing without them falling out. It helped immediately. I think it's forcing my right elbow to stay where it's supposed to be and getting my left shoulder to rotate better.
  9. Thanks for the tip AggieGolfer. I see exactly what you mean and am going to work hard on getting the shoulders steeper. I went to my first lesson with a pga pro last week and he had me change to a more neutral grip. Previously I was swinging with a strong grip. I played a round yesterday with the more neutral grip and was push slicing my woods and longer irons badly. I realize I could probably minimize the push slice with my old stronger grip, but I'd rather fix the root issue which I think is the lack of shoulder steepness. Thanks again!
  10. Hi guys. New to the sandtrap. I had to register and take some videos after seeing all the great advice on here. Always enjoyed playing golf, but in the past I'd usually only make it out a few times a year. Decided a month ago I'd like to take it more seriously and have been practicing and playing frequently. Would like to play in some amateur tourneys at some point. Thanks in advance for any help! I've been Playing Golf for: Off and on since I was really young. Mid 20s now and just started taking golf seriously this summer. My current handicap index or average score is: I shoot in the mid 80s on a good day. My typical ball flight is: Straight The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Sometimes have issues with a push fade. Videos:
