Got the Taylormade RSi 1 irons today and put them up for sale today. Didn't like them at all, and I have decided I will continue to play my old bubble shafted Supersteels. For me they do the trick.

Well, I just traded my G25's for a new set of TaylorMade RSi 1's. They swapped even with me, so I thought why not. I'll see how I like them, but I still have the trusty Supersteels.

I am older also (62). Maybe that's it, we just refuse to change. :)

Just curious if any others user older irons. I have a set of older TaylorMade Supersteel irons with the bubble shafts and I recently replaced them with a set of Ping G25's. After using the Pings for a while the Supersteels are back in my bag. I hit them so much better than the Pings and will probably be selling the G25's soon. For me at least newer wasn't better. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I used to use a neutral interlocking grip and here is what I have done: I take a basic "baseball" grip with my left thumb going down the right side of the shaft and my right thumb going down the left side of the shaft. I rest my left thumb inside the pocket formed by my right palm. Looking down on it it looks maybe a little stronger, but not much. I don't know exactly what this has done for me, but it seems that my right wrist hinges a little less than it did with the interlock. Whatever it did it has helped a lot.

It appears to have been my grip! Now, how the hell is that possible???!!?!?!

Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that this doesn't jinx me, but believe it or not one thing that appears to be helping tremendously is a change in my grip. I am going to wait and see if it continues to help before I post what I did!

I have a dozen Birdie Balls coming today, I have never hit one, but I bought 18 of the Almost Golf Balls. In my opinion if you want every ball to feel well struck and not give a true indication of what a real ball would do, then the Almost Golf Ball is for you. I can't hardly hit a bad one, everything feels good and 99% of the time the ball flies straight. Believe me, that doesn't happen when I hit real golf balls. I feel like they are just a step above the old plastic practice balls, I don't care for them at all.

Yes, I definitely think it is a "coming over the top" issue. Nothing feels any different and another odd thing is I don't do it nearly as bad with my woods and never with the driver. Thanks for the tips, everyone keep them coming, I am dying here!

Not trying to hit a draw or a slice, I am just trying to hit it straight. This just came totally out of the blue and I CANNOT understand what I am doing wrong. I can place something just outside the ball and stop shanking, but as soon as I remove it they return. It is unbelievable.

Where the h*ll do the shanks come from and why??? Suddenly I have developed a bad case of the shanks. If I go out to hit some balls the first few are fine and then suddenly the shanks start and just get worse, and worse, and worse. I have never had this problem in the 30+ years I have played golf. I am a 10-12 handicap and I am becoming very frustrated and discouraged. HELP!!!!

Most any reputable golf store has the ability to perform a good fitting. I purchased my clubs at Golfsmith and they took a lot of time getting it right for me. But, other places such as Golf Galaxy, Golf Headquarters, or even Dick's if they have the clubs you want. Personally I would go to a place that specializes in golf, like I said Dick's is okay, but they wouldn't be my first choice. It is important that you get fitted, so even if you have to travel a little ways it will be worth it.

I personally find them rather forgiving for a forged blade like club, but of course not as forgiving as a GI club. The 59's don't look much diffetent than the 58's to me.

I have the MP-58's and the JPX-825's, both are awesome clubs. The 825's have a more solid feel, of course they are cast clubs, but they are incredibly soft at the same time. The 58's are beautiful and very fun to hit. For my game the 825's are in my bag, but I intend to give the 58's limited use also. Congrats on the new clubs!

I can't speak to the 800's, but I just bought a set of the 825's. I had them customized to fit me and I can say they are some amazing clubs. By far the best set of irons I have ever hit and I have hit darned near all of them. I also have a set of MP-58's which is a forged club and to me the 825's have a better feel. I don't think anyone could go wrong with a set.
