  1. My excuse is the REASON that has been published by others, not me... so I am only trying to report what I have read elsewhere: http://kotaku.com/5980708/at-last-tiger-woods-pga-tour-14-brings-sudden-death-to-life As far as simulation mode being requested, EA Tiberon says it directly at the beginning of this article: http://www.easports.com/tiger-woods/news/article/simulation-difficulty-blog This quote is from a poster at OS Golf forum, where they have been requesting simulation mode for years: WOHHOOOOO!!!! Now, any word on AI scoring? TW14 could be the true simulation golf game we have all been waiting for! You may not have read it on the EA forums, but the devs said it themselves that is has been requested for a long time, they have been requesting it on the OS Golf forums, and when they have community days for the game, the OS Golf forums send a few guys every year, so yes it has been requested and noted. Thanks for your offer to let me know if I am right or not, but I am already satisfied that my sources of info are good. :)
  2. If enough people request them to go in this direction, there is a good chance they will. The current dev team is very responsive to what the fans request. The sim difficulty is because the fans requested it, and they will be changing the camera on puts on this edition in the patch because that is what the feedback from the fans was asking for. Me personally, I'd want them to keep the current play off as they have implemented it now, but also add head to head if the person you are tied with is one of the licensed players. I would really be pulled out of the game if I saw the same people at the top of the leaderboard tournament after tournament as you suggest. You are wrong about the names. If it appears on a PGA leaderboard, they can show it on the leaderboard in the game... and Phil Mickelson's name appears on the leaderboard of the game.
  3. They have the license to use the leader board, and any names that have appeared there.
  4. Again because of licensing issues, they never had a play off until this year because they couldn't figure out how to implement it. If you are tied with a golfer they don't have the license for, there is no way they can have you play against him. So the solution they worked out was to have you play each hole and then sim the score of your opponent. If you are waiting for a version where you can play against any golfer from the PGA Tour who you happened to be tied with, waiting for the PS4 won't make any difference. As I said above, they have to arrange a license fee with each individual golfer before they appear in the game... so there is no way they will ever be able to handle the contingency of 150 possible golfers you could play in a play off round.
  5. Yes, it varies on the tournament you are playing. So the US Open goes for a full round of 18 holes. You learn the score of your opponent after you play each hole.
  6. The PGA license covers the PGA brand, and that's all it covers. Licenses then have to be arranged with each individual course, each individual tournament, and each individual golfer. Each license costs money and adds to the budget, and furthermore each course license requires EA to upgrade the course each year. So no, unlike baseball or football, a golf video game cannot have all the courses and all the players as part of their contract. Some courses do not want to be in a video game, so they can't. Some golfers don't want to be in the game, so they aren't. EA has the license to put their name on the leader board, but they can't even use a shot arc of an unlicensed golfer because that could be construed as part of their image... which is why they had no play offs until this year, because they couldn't figure out how to manage a play off with a golfer who wasn't licensed to be in the game.
  7. They added a simulation difficulty level which is supposed to be both more challenging and more immersive.
  8. They have added the ability to play with 24 other golfers on a live tournament with ball arcs to address this issue. Career mode is a little more difficult to make feel alive, though they added more stats as you play the round showing what the other AI golfers are doing to make it come more to life.
  9. With the next gen of consoles about to occur, I am sure the galleries will be one of the things they will address. That and presentation have been held back by the limited capacity of the current generation. I have heard that many developers now say they are at the limits already, so the new gen is happening at just the right time.
  10. Re Mickelson not in the game: he didn't want to be, or he asked for too large a fee. That's basically the reason he has never been in it.
  11. Sorry new here, I replied but I don't see it posted, so forgive me if I double post. When Tiger and Rory played two weeks ago in the Turkish Airlines Championship, that event wasn't broadcast in the US, but it ended up being one of my favorite events of the year. This was worth watching, I liked hearing some of the conversation between Tiger and Rory in between shots. - Anatole
  12. The Turkish Airlines Medal match play event of two weeks ago was also apparently not worthy of being broadcast in the US, and that ended up being one of my favorite events of the year. So much for the USA as the barometer of what is worthy. lol. - Anatole
  13. I'm watching this on TV now. I live in Thailand and the main cable provider is really good at carrying golf events like these. I have the feeling we have the SKY sports feed, since the event is using European Tour commentators. Rory's short game is outstanding today, he is looking much better than he did when he was matched up against Tiger in Turkey. I got to see the Turkey event too, they carried it here in Thailand as well. The course is super foggy and the event is half circus, with the gallery walking on the greens behind Rory and Tiger. - Anatole
