  1. Clubfitter in San Antonio named Andy Rubin. Probably one of the best I have ever met with fitting with computer assistance. Andy told me about the Clubs. Stated he had pure respect for the manufacturer and the desire to put a fine club on the market. After hitting them for a while they give a true response to the swing. Could not be happier with this selection. dxstx
  2. I ( IMHO) believe the main cause for concern in converting a regular putter (lie of 71 degrees) is the difference in lie for the long putter (lie of 79 - 80 degrees). The belly putter is the same lie as the regular putter which is around 71 degrees. The lie for the long putter is 79 - 80 degrees. I am attempting to change a regular putter to a long putter and to increase the lie the additional 8 - 9 degrees. My question is - will bending the hosel or insert to the putter head to the desired lie affect the overall performance of the putter? OR.....will it be necessary to fill in the hole for the shaft at a machine shop and then have the head drilled to accommodate the the correct angle for the long putter? Has anyone attempted this? If so what results have you found? Thanks dxstx
  3. After asking for any experience with the Bobby Jones wedges I ordered one. Here is my review and experience-- I think the concept is great, I liked the look of the club but after using my vokeys for so long, this wedge was so heavy(D5+) I felt as if I would have to alter my swing to make them work for me. Generally I have a very easy controlled swing and I found with the weight of this clubhead all I could feel was the clubhead. Now I am no authority on the concept and can only confirm what my experience was. Dave Pelz theory is the added weight will benefit most golfers around the green.......I don't disagree with this theory. I expect my wedges to work from 130 yards in and not just around the green. I liked the look of the club, the shaft felt a little whippy for me. They do impart a considerable amount of spin, but I did not see performance improvement or noticeable spin performance over the vokeys. I really liked the look and the theory, yet I have 14 clubs and I already have one specifically for the green, and one specifically for the tee box; and I did not feel the additional cost reflected any additional performance. I returned mine because I did not see enough improvement in performance over the vokeys to justify the additional cost. Hope this helps some of you make a decision. dxstx
  4. I ordered the CB 202, from a certified dealer. He has had the shafts for 7 of the 8 weeks we have waited. They just have to ship the heads as all other is to specifications. Thanks Dxstx
  5. Has anyone ordered anything from Miura? I ordered a set of irons over 8 weeks ago and I continually get next week, next week. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them......i.e., can I expect them or should I go to my second choice? Appreciate your help. dxstx
  6. Has anyone tried the Bobby Jones Wedges. The concept sounds good but I've heard lots of claims. Who has them for sale? If you have tried them please let me know what you think.

  10. After being in the golf business for a few years -- I would strongly recommend everyone go to a qualified fitter and do more than hit clubs until you find some that you like. With some of the investments we are making into equipment, and never ending new technology, if you get irons that fit you new shafts may be all that you need in the future. I looked at the TaylorMade R7 cgb max irons a while back, and while they are great irons the truth be said the lofts have been made markedly stronger. I felt as if I had gained distance (the scourge of the golf game), when in actuality all they have done is change the numbers to the loft. I then went to a well known fitter with all the proper equipment, and through shaft technology retrieved my swing speed to an acceptable level. I was just about to fall for it and buy a set of clubs that I gave up everything else for, except distance!
