  1. Kind of hard to compare when you have a 7 iron and 5 iron with 2 different lofts and probably 2 different shafts All I get out of this is the 5 iron is somewhat more accurate except for a couple of thin/flyer shots. The only thing I don't care for is any type of simulator as I have found real world results are always different. Only other thing is the 7 iron appears to be just as long as the 5 iron. So my question is......what is your point you are trying to make because I don't get it? Sorry, maybe it's just me.
  2. Since I don't get to play as much (once a week instead of 3-4 times) I swapped out my 3 and 4 irons with the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi iron hybrids. It's been a good comprimise so far. If I ever get back to playing multiple times per week then I will put the 3 and 4 irons back in the bag. It's an individuals decision on what they are able to hit and feel most confident with. The scorecard has no pictures or area to write what clubs your using.
  3. G-15 driver: Game improvement but sits square I-15 driver: Pro version and sits square to slightly open I-15 irons: this years combination of G series long irons and I series short irons so you don't have to mix the two on your own. That's what I am going to like most, not having to decide where to split the set at. Mike
  4. Try this link. If not then go to www.golfwrx.com equipment tour and pre release http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index....owtopic=278032 http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index....owtopic=278030 Mike
  5. Nobody said they would win a beauty contest but they can win you money from your playing partners It's funny that when I look at my scorecard I have never seen any pictures of my clubs, only numbers. I have played mostly blades but don't get out much anymore so I have decided to just get a set of Pings and retire. Besides, I only live a few miles down the road incase I ever do have any problems or need them adjusted. This thread was only started to make anyone aware of when the new Pings were coming out, not start a forged vs. cast vs.blades. vs.cavity back war. We all have seen to many of those in the past. Enjoy what you play and play what you enjoy and may this be your best year ever.
  6. Here is what I recieved from Ping today. I will be going down to the factory on July 31st to get fitted for the complete set, providing they have them by then. Mike, The official release date for the new line is July 27th, at which point all the information should be public knowledge. When it comes to having them here for fitting purposes, it will also be after the 27th until we have them here to view and be fit for. I would call in advance before coming to make sure we have the new stuff actually here in the fitting building. I hope this helps, and thank you in advance for your support of PING!! Steve La
  7. If you really like the driver and don't want to buy a new one, then take it to a clubmaker and have him fill the head with foam. We did this to my friends and it muted it and did not affect the playability at all. With most drivers today, they all seem to be getting loud. As for me, I just adjust the volume on my hearing aids
  8. Your playing a Ping G-10. My best advise is to contact pings customer service and see if they can change it out for you. They have great customer service and I have had shafts replaced and only paid for the grips. Doesn't hurt to ask them
  9. i am waiting to try the new I-15 and G-15 series that are coming out. They have the Sedona Red color instead of burnt orange. As far as someone saying they are made in the US, sorry but most of their clubs are being out sourced in China and assembled here in Phoenix. They still make some models here but can't remember off the top of my head which one's. All of the woods and hybrids are made in China. (The old man has to be turning over in his grave).
  10. TGW.com has them on sale and no tax. Anyone notice that Nike dropped their prices on all of the equipment? Must be our wonderful economy or new models coming out soon.
  11. Why not just tip a regular flex a half inch or use stiff tipped a half inch less? Since most recreation golfers use a driver that's too long to begin with, just have the r-flex tipped a half inch and your driver would be a half inch shorter and more solid contact. The shaft would be playing to a firm which is between reg and stiff. Go see a clubfitter and he will agree plus it would save from having to buy a new shaft. Just my recommendation. Good luck. By the way, it will affect swingweight but the clubfitter can add tungsten powder or a tip weight to get the swingweight back to normal. It shouldn't cost more then about $15 with new ferrule included. Mike
  12. Just took out the Titleist Ap1 irons after 2 weeks and replaced them with the Callaway FT irons. Just liked the feeling better but not the price of $1200 ouch! The FT's actually have more of a players feel with a narrower sole and slightly thinner topline. The AP2 irons would have been a better fit than the AP1's for me.
  13. This may sound funny and I never thought that I would try something radical but the Callaway Squareway wood is the easiest 3 wood to hit. Takes some getting use to the looks but the performance is why its in the bag. It goes straight, mid launch its easy from the rough or deck, and great for tight par 4's from the tee. I think I have finally accepted the radical and find the game that much more fun now. Even gave up the blades and am playing the FT irons now. Demo everything and good luck in your search.
  14. I was at a course today and they had new AP1 demo 6 irons for sale for $20. Since I am going to graphite I bought one with the VS proto 75 shaft in it. Hit it several times and now am going to order the whole set. I am not a long hitter but was hitting this one 180 yards high and straight. The offset isn't bad at all but the topline is a little thick. I can live with that if I continue hitting this club straight and far. I currently am playing a set of Bridgestone J-33 cavity backs that are tour issued that i have used for 8 rounds so this is a major step. Looks like the J-33's are going up for sale! I'm so impressed that I am going to a full Titleist bag again. My 50th birthday is the 28th and the wife has been given the shopping list!
  15. I have used the Vokey Sm, Cleveland CG-12 Zip and Cally mack daddy and all spin great but chew up balls. I am now playing the Ping Tour-W wedges and get the same amount of spin but doesn't shread balls like the others.
