Oh no, the ball moved a 1/4", and the lie wasn't improved. Obviously he lied, but there was no advantage. This is a stupid rule in golf and I can't really fault anyone for not calling the penalty on himself.

This guy dan is such a narcissistic chode. Anybody that honestly believes that being the "best" is simply a matter of time is quite simple a misguided moron that has never stepped foot outside of the rock they live under. There's a reason guys like tiger, jack, arnold and lee are famous. Theres also a reason why thousands of scratch golfers never make the tour.

This is a stupid penalty that shouldn't even exist in the game. A miniscule ball movement because of a crap lie isn't a player's fault, nor does it provide any sort of meaningful advantage. Add this to the list of moronic golf rules which include such stupidity as having to play out of a divot in the fairway, yet when a ball is plugged in the fairway, it can be lifted and dropped out of the pitch mark.

I hit one right at the flag on a par three and looked for 10 minutes and couldn't find the damn thing. Ended up just skipping the hole... but I was so pissed off that I came back that evening and looked over every single inch of the hole. The damn thing ended up being plugged just off the back of the green in the rough, right in line with the flag. It was buried such that you could only see it if you were at the perfect angle. It was vindication to know that I wasn't crazy for thinking it was tracking the flag... just a little long...
