Regular Vs. Stiff Shaft(Driver/Hybrids)
ridenemwild replied to mchichioco's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Hybrids that launch high and no roll out... sounds like a great thing. -
Driver off the tee, lay up at the 100 yard marker, good smooth gw into the green. You can also go for it with a good 3 wood and play it long so as long as you clear the water the worst you will do is end up in the bunker and that has never been an issue for me.

I would love to hear from anyone who was fitted/ recommended for the 65 speeder over the 57. The Taylor made website shows the exact same specs for both shafts in stiff flex. Both weigh 58 grams, both have 3.4 torque, and both are considered mid launch shafts
-
I'm sure what I hit at the store was the 460 with the 57 gram shaft. The Taylor made preowned sit is what is showing a 65 gram speeder shaft as an option. I just didn't know if I would be able to tell the difference or benefits

Looking at pulling the trigger on a sldr driver. Hit 1 into a net at the golf shop earlier this week and it was nice. Launch monitor showed really good numbers but idk how much faith I have in it. Also I'm seeing 2 different shaft options a 57 gram and 65 gram. Any opinions or major differences between the 2?

Being a poor golfer myself and playing with a lot of single digit handicaps I have found that the best way to play with a group that is much better than you is to tee off on the same tee box as them. But pick up your ball at double bogey. This will keep you at the same pace as them and they seem to appreciate it but it also doesn't remove you from the group or make them wait on you a lot. Just my experience

I currently have a r11s 4 wood that I absolutely love. Off the deck I get about 200 yards with it and off the tee its about 230. My driver is a ping g10 9° and it usually goes about 240. The only problem is i tend to be very wild with my driver. Hitting very few fairways and not seeing much of a distance gap between the 2. I love my 4 wood the weight and all just feels right and I usually hit the fairways 3 out of 4 times off the tee. So just wondering what y'all think about a very strong lofted 3 wood for just off the tee. What models have a deeper face to help a little but still weigh and feel close to the same as the r11s.

I got to pick from whatever day I chose and I picked sunday. Other days are more fun but let's be honest Sunday is when history is made. It was a hard choice between Thursday and Sunday just because of the honorary tee off. But practice days would be fun if you are really into the players and coaches and caddies and stuff
-
Another question for people who have been. How much traffic should I expect? Should I add an extra 30 min to an hour for driving in? We are staying in a friends guest house about an hour away and plan to get up early and finish the drive

I would really have loved to see the honorary tee off and it was a tough decision to choose Sunday over Thursday but let's be honest Sunday is when history happens.

10. Lastly, visit Rhineharts Oyster Bar, just down the road. Gets packed, rough and ready, but the beer is cold, fries are hot and the seafood is spot-on. This is a place I will definitely check out! Me and my dad are going and this is right up both of our alleys! Thanks for some ideas! I am definitely going to be watching some of the around the green play to see if I can't pick up a few techniques.

As far as I know no cell phones or cameras are allowed on tournament days.

In my line of work I am around a lot of members of Augusta and I got 2 tickets as a tip. Definitely not going to stay in 1 spot!
-
My tickets just arrived for Sunday of the 2014 Masters. I have never been to a PGA event before much less Augusta. Wondering if there is anything that's absolutely must see. Amen corner is definitely on the top of my list but what else? Also are there any players that are worth following for several holes? I am an avid golfer but honestly don't follow the tour closely at all. Of course I know Tiger, Phil, and possibly Rory. Just excited and wanting ya'lls opinions.

need driver recommendations
ridenemwild replied to ridenemwild's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well where would a good place to start at looking for a driver? Higher degree loft? Then shaft wise higher kick point? Or do I stay with a lower kick point shaft. There is a local Edwin watts but no fitters that I know of in several hundred miles ( I live in south ga if anyone knows of 1 close by). -
OK I know this has probably been gone over 100's of times but here I GI anyway. My current driver is a ping g10 9° with a stiff graffaloy blue shaft. I generally hit it about 225-250. But the problem lies in that I hit my taylormade r11s 4 wood with Padilla rip regular shaft about 220-225 yards. This makes me think that there is some untapped distance with my driver. I don't have any swing speed numbers but I generally hit my 7 iron about 160 if that helps any.

I am a high handicap player and thought I would chime in. I replaced my 3,4,and 5 iron with g20 hybrids. The reason I replaced them is #1 I have a difficult time hitting the longer irons and not much of a distance gap between them and #2 the longer irons are not clubs I try to attack the greens with so I enjoy the extra distance and reliability of the hybrids. I am much more comfortable hitting a 4 wood off the tee and a 4 hybrid the a wedge on a par 5 then trying to hit 4 wood 7 iron 8 iron on the same par 5. The 5 hybrid is also the perfect 190 yard club for me for when I screw up off the tee and need to recover to try and get on the green. I have zero confidence in trying to hit a 5 iron on the green but the hybrid gives me the confidence that I will atleast get on the green.
-
I also read that a wood has a lower cg and a higher moi and cor than an iron like hybrid like the g20 so the wood gets more distance for the same loft and shaft length.

In the south golf is usually played in the morning BC of the heat. Start at 8-8:30 finish close to 12 and enjoy a nice meal with your group afterwards. If you play in the afternoon then you try to end around 5 for cocktails and supper afterwards.

Was at my local golf shop this afternoon and started playing around with the putters. I tried the pings first and really really enjoyed the ping karsten zing. I was holing many puts on the carpet from 10 ft or more and was having very good distance control. So being the typical beginner I am I started picking up other putters and trying them. Everything from yes putters to Odyssey and even a Scotty Cameron. I tried everything from futureist designs to normal and just kept coming back to the ping zing. Now here is my question is this a good choice for a beginner? It is definitely in my price range at $89 is this just one of those personal decisions that each golfer must make on his own BC what is nice to me is complete garbage to someone else? I have the opportunity to buy a used Scotty Cameron that is in really good shape and only a few years old for $100. Am I going to appreciate the difference in the Scotty Cameron later down the road? Just like to hear your inputs and suggestions.thanks

What about Adams? I think they make nice hybrids are their woods pretty good as well? If so what model? -

Are there any hybrids or woods well known for how easy they are to hit that are about the same age/ price range as the g10s? -

The more I consider it the more I like the idea of a 4 wood @17° and 2 hybrids one @20-21° and one at 24-25°. I think this should give me good yardage gaps and a little more loft will hopefully get a higher trajectory for me. What do y'all think about the ping g10 woods and hybrids? I know you don't have to match woods, hybrids and driver but I think it would be cool
