  1. I am working on the following: correcting a hook that I have developed with my mid (5, 6, 7) irons. my mental game when on a par 3. This used to be the strongest part of my game but after a few bad rounds I struggle to keep the ball in play on par 3's. Its very frustrating. learning to let go of a bad shot BEFORE I hit the next shot
  2. Shot my personal best last week. 83 70.2/124 That one triple bogey cost me getting an 80.
  3. Hello, I have recently purchased a set of forged clubs that I need to get fitted for me. I am in need of the following: - Cut the shaft to the appropriate length (The clubs I got came with uncut True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shafts) - Double check and correct (if necessary) the lie and angle - add a grip I live in the Shreveport/Bossier City area of NW Louisiana. I do have an Edwin Watts and also a Dicks Sporting Goods store in the area, but I wonder if there are others. (Golf Etc. recently closed down) Thanks in advance ...
  4. Well, as I mentioned a few posts earlier I would post back with comments regarding the Hogan Edge Forged irons that I got off of ebay. After I got them I cleaned them up (which included me cleaning and sharpening the grooves with a PGA approved sharpener). They measured about 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter than my Razr's, which is not an issue for me. Easy to hit - There is no doubt about it ... these irons are easy to hit and they feel great when you hit the sweet spot. Compared to my Razr's I like the feel of these irons much better, my guess is because they are forged. Control - If you have a need to work the ball right to left or left to right you can do so very easily with these irons. They respond very well to the snap hook or to the high fade. Distance - They do travel about a half club length shorter than my Razr's. However, I am still carrying my 7 iron 170 yds on a full swing. Trajectory - I am typically a high baller so I did not have a problem getting these irons into the air, however, I can say that they did not get near the height of my Razr's ... much lower trajectory. I am not sure how I feel about this at the moment, its to early to tell. Sound - Well, they sound like old-school irons. Barely a sound on the sweet spot and a noticeable 'click' on the toe or heel. Summary - These are a great set of irons that I would not be afraid to bag on any given day. There are a tad shorter than modern era irons but they are long enough and have such a great feel to them. I will be playing a foursome tomorrow and will be adding the 'E' wedge and the 9 iron to my bag ... maybe the 6 iron as well.
  5. Never been a fan of TaylorMade equipment, the Penta 5 layer ball notwithstanding. When I went looking for a new set of clubs last year I looked at Adams, Mizuno, Callaway, and Titleist. Taylormade never even entered my mind as an option. I was later disappointed when I found out that TM bought Adams ... sad.
  6. I have a pair of Nike spikes I keep in the car just in case the course is really wet, but I actually prefer to wear a pair of New Balance hiking shoes. They are easier on my feet and ankles and have enough grip/tread on them that they prevent me from slipping.
  7. Hi, This is a great question. A 36 handicapper is pretty high. Let me share with you my personal experience regarding Golf Balls. High handicap balls to consider are - Noodle (long and straight) - TopFlight - BridgeStone E6 or E7 - Callaway Warbird - Taylormade Burner Balls to NOT consider if you are a high handicap player - Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x - Callaway Hex Black - Bridgestone 330 series - Taylormade Penta TP5 Just my $0.02
  8. I just picked up a set of Hogan Edge forged irons for a few bucks on Ebay. I really look forward to cleaning them up and playing a round or two with them. I currently play with a mix of RAZR X Tours and RAZR X's. I've been wanting to pick up a set of forged irons for a while and this set seemed to be a good place to start. I suspect that the lofts on these irons will be a bit softer ... basically, half a club to a full club difference. Anyway, I'll let y'all know what I think of them after I play a round or two with them.
