  1. Finally, finally it all come together yesterday. Shot a 12 over par 70 playing a handicap 17. Net 65 and may monthly medal winner. A nice cut of 1.5 shots. All the practicing ive been putting in finally paid off. I have always said that to me its not about the winning but lowing the handicap, but I can sure as hell say this winning lark is great. What a feeling of accomplishment!
  2. 2perfect practice putts, step to the ball, stroke, catch the ground balls rolls 4ft foward. Putters ends up in the bushes followed by many profanities.
  3. Shot some new personal bests this weekend. I play a18 hole course that plays the same 9 twice, just different tee boxes. Just for comparison my best 18 is a 87, shot that late last year and until recently havent been able to get anywhere near it. Friday I played 9 and shot a 43 - 8 over (new best) Saturday played 18, presidents cup qulaifier from the competition tees and shot an 89 (net 72 with 17hc) which qualifies me to the knockout match play stage. Sunday played 9 again and shot a 42 (beat fridays PB) Made a few swing changes recently which have hugely helped ball striking and ive really been taking my course management a lot more serious. Also shot my first ever eagle sunday. So very happy about that. 35y flop into steep sloping rough towards the hole. Rolled in like I ment to do it ;) Now to convert some of those 9 hole rounds to 18 and get that HC cut!
  4. Thanks guys. I had always believed distance balls were really quite prone to being very wayward when struck slightly wrong. But then I guess thats the beauty of these forums. Im not exactly new to golf, but the last 2years I have started playing at least twice a week, compared to the few times yearly from 14-20 (before that was almost everyday) I dont suffer from hooks or slices, but I do like to shape my shots from the tee. Preferably a draw. The reason I am asking on the difference between the balls is that if I was to change my balls, (mind the pun) so drastically, im worried that ill step up to yhe firat tee, full of confidence, execute my normal in-out-in swing path and the balls draws an extra 15yards in flight andbon my course that ends up nowhere to be found. Im glad I asked, and you guys answered as by the sounds of your responses, thats exactly what would of happened!!!
  5. Appreciate your sarcasm, but possibly a little more clarity as to what you are being sarcastic about would make it a little more funny. Not by much, but a little. Secondly, I havent been on a launch monitor recently so I do apologise if "92mph" is not exact. But what i can be as exact as my gps tells me, when im on a 408y hole and i reach for the big stick, hit a cracking draw, walk to my ball, look at my gps watch and it tells me my approach shot is 135y then no, i was sniffing at 270y, i went over it. Thanks for replying, but if you have nothing constructive or helpful to say, please dont waste my time or your own.
  6. Found and played an old proV1 on the course today, was swinging well for once so I was hitting a fair amount of fairways. Quite liked the ball, may have to put it into practice for a few rounds. When swinging badly, hooking and slicing, which ball would slice/hook with the worst reaults. The e7 or the proV1. The reason I ask is that everyone knows that dostance balls are prone to be very slippery through the air caused them to hook and slice violently, and aball like the proV1 is built to be able to put maximum spin on the ball.. So would a slice be more or less violent with the proV??
  7. When im 140 from the green and I think 'either a seven and risk rolling of the back (always dangerous on ky home course) or crush an 8 and get a bit of extra spin to make it hold. Go for the 8i and everything goea wrong. Huge bladed slice into what might aswell be oblivion. Drop a provisional from where the 8i was taken. Change back to the seven and drop it 3ft from the pin. Kill me now!
  8. Shot my best round yet last sunday. Went roundbin 85, just 1 birdie. Very similar to jonMA1, I feel my game is improving vastly, just not all on the same day.
  9. Hi, guys. im pretty new to all this, so i apologise if this post has already been covered or is in the wrong section. Basicaly, about 2 months ago, i had a free golf mot from a well known golf retailer in the uk, it all seemed pretty rushed and helf hearted,in fact the only good that come of the day was my irons were cleaned relatively well. heyho, it was free, what more can you expect. anyway, come the end of the session while we was wraping up and about to end, i reminded the guy that he was supposed to recommened me a ball based on my swing speed, and ball flight tendancies. almost instantly i was recomended the bridgestone e7, although i never had the chance to use the launch monitor that was advertised, so i cant really see how the assistant could make an informed recomendation. nevertheless i took his advice, and off i went to buy 2 dozen bridgestone e7 lake balls. i had never relly looked into the e7 while playing it, so earlier today when i looked to see how much they cost new, i was shocked to find they were branded as 'pure distance' as i have been able to keep them on the fairways fairly well, and my home course is TIGHT to say the least! usually a distance ball would be playing all over the place (except the fairways), so i was wondering if bridgestone had implemented some sort of anti side spin into the ball, although i can easily hit a fade, or trusted draw just as easily as a nice long straight shot. my only problem with this ball is that its almost impossible to get the ball to drop and stop on the greens, especially at my home course as the greens and super quick, and probably wont hold even the softest of balls. but a little help wouldnt hurt. basically, i was wondering if changing from the bridgestone e7 to the b330 will make a big differnce within my longer irons, fairway woods and driver. i can really trust myself and the e7 from the tee. i can confidently swing my driver at around 92mph and find my ball 270yards further down the fairway. i was wondering if the technology is much different in the b330 that is going to reveal some fatal flaws in my swing and send me hunting in the holly bushes and nettles. has anybody gamed both balls? what is your verdicts? thanks for your help, Mitch.
