Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
jasonpetermann replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Picked up a new Cleveland C15 60* Lob Wedge at Dick's on clearance for $50 to replace an older Cleveland Lob wedge (588 TA). Love the feel of this thing. Hit it at the range this morning. Can't wait to play it on Monday morning! -
Hopefully someone can help me figure this out: I just got a new Cobra Amp Cell with the regular flex Fujikura Fuel shaft. Stock shaft is 45 3/4". I am considering cutting it down to 44" (I am only 5' 6") and installing a Secret Grip on it. What will this do to swing weight and what other issues might it cause? Really don't wanna mess it up to where it can't be played.

Pretty decent day. New driver in the bag which helped me greatly! Added 20 yards to my drives. I was playing an old TM R5 Dual. New one is a Cobra Amp Cell.

In store over the last couple days: Sun Mountain C130, two Bridgestone hats on clearance, four golf pride tour wrap grips. Got a Cobra Amp Cell on eBay today for $122 shipped! Can't wait to hit it! -
Played today with a new-to-me set of Callaway RazrX irons. Have until Monday/Tuesday to decide if I will keep them. First time using graphite shafts... anyways, actually hit pretty well considering they were new clubs. Playing again with them Monday!

Switched to graphite... Couple of questions
jasonpetermann replied to jasonpetermann's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just played my first round with them and shot an 84. Pretty positive experience. Lighter shaft left me not feeling as fatigued as I usually do. A question if anyone can answer: does graphite hinder feel of the ball off if the face? Trying to decide if it is just the new club head, the shaft or a combination. But I don't feel the mishits near as bad. -
Just picked up a barely used set of Callaway RazrX irons with graphite shaft. Was fitted today with the Mizuno system and it actually recommended graphite, which I was really surprised by. I am a little worried about the switch, and am having second thoughts. Anyone else make this switch and have some advice/tips? Or maybe the only advice is go and swing away like always and don't think about it.

Picked up a barely used set of Callaway RazrX irons (3h,4h, 5-pw) reg flex graphite shaft. These things looked like they had less than 5 rinds on them. Got them for $300 at GG, which I thought was pretty good! I have a week to try them out and get something else (may get the Mizuno 800HDs if the RazrX don' t feel right when I play with them a couple times this week). Also got the free Secret Grip I stalled while I was there. I actually feels really nice, but the proof will be playing with it tomorrow! -
Thank for the replies. Actually was talking to my pro today and he also mentioned that the AP2 would be a good fit for me. He also recommended a stiff shaft after we did some hitting and comparing ball flight an feel on the range today. Hit a few irons and really liked the lighter shafts. I play the Dynamic Gold R300 in my x-18s, but the lighter Dynalite s300 felt great I will also look at the Adams when I go to Edwin Watts and Golf Galaxy this weekend to hit and look at my options.

I know the actual answer will be to go and hit irons and find what works best for me, and I am going to do that. But, I want to know some of your experiences, so... I got back into golf again this year after a 3 year break due to being laid off. I was playing about once a week, and consistantly shot in the low 80's; broke 80 three times. I have been playing again this year, and am scoring in the mid to high 80's. My clubs are as follows: Callaway x-18 Pro 3-PW (only carry 5-PW) Nickent 3+ Hybrid Callaway BB (2007 model I believe) 3 and 5 woods Taylor Made R5 driver Odyssey White hot #1 putter I am looking to replace my irons, just to get a little more forgiveness while I am getting back into the game. I have looked at and hit the Mizuno JPX 800HD irons and liked the feel (first time I had ever hit Mizunos and loved it!). I am also looking at the 800 Pro line (not hit them yet). I want the forgiveness, but do not want to be disappointed that I bought the SGI irons and have to go out and find a set next year that are more players irons. I like keeping what I have for some time. Anyone made the move to SGI and wish they had not done it? Or made that move and loved it? Share your story! And of course, share your opinions about the irons listed above. Again, I know I have to go and hit and get fit. I will do that. Just thinking out loud here. Thanks!

Well, I am now looking at the Sun Mountain c130 bag. I like the looks of it a lot. Hopefully I can find a good deal on it somewhere as it is a bit out of my price range. I may just wait a bit and see what else may surface. I use to have full size staff bags. I like them, and never carry, so they worked fine for me. I just want something that is very sturdy, has full length dividers and a putter well. I have the Super stroke Fatso on my putter and it causes issues if it is in a divider with other clubs. The bag I have now is the Callaway GBBII bag. I love the construction of it. Have had it quite some time now as well.

Blah! 91 on a rainy and muddy course today. Game seems to be going a bit backward at the moment. Can't really say I had too many shots that felt great today, evidence in in the scorecard. Did have a nice chip in for birdie though!

Should I take the my driver out of my bag?
jasonpetermann replied to mflames44's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I would also be interested in hearing any thoughts about the 3-Deep as a driver replacement. I am considering that move myself. -
I have not purchased a bag in quite some time. I usually so quite a bit of homework before I make a purchase, and this was no exception. I went to a few different places to look, and was really disappointed in what I saw. The bags seemed so flimsy and cheaply made compared to what I have right now (which is a Callaway GBBII cart bag). I did like the Sun Mountain C130 and a couple of bags by Ogio that seemed fairly sturdy compared to the rest, but those were a bit out of the range I wanted to pay. (I know, you get what you pay for) I really waned a bag with full length dividers and a large putter well for the oversize grip I have. I did some more research online, and really liked the looks of the Ogio Itza bag (and found it at a decent price). I was not able to find it locally to look at it, but based on the other Ogio bags I saw, I decided to go ahead a get it. I received it Friday and was really disappointed. The bag just does not seem sturdy. I can hold the top of the bag and actually twist the bag in the center. Maybe it is the new standard to be able to make them as light as possible, but it just seems cheap. So I guess I am asking, do these bags hold up ok? Maybe I am being to picky. I don't want to carry a full staff bag. Any recommendations from you all on a nice sturdy bag that is not a staff bag. < > Thanks!

Zero Friction tees and box of E6s. Boring, but necessary. I did have my new Ogio Itza bag delivered yesterday. Not home to see it yet, but looking forward to getting it set to play! -
I am looking at the Ogio Itza cart bag. Does anyone have this bag and want to share their experience with it? One thing that has me hesitating is knowing if it comes with a shoulder strap or not. From what I have been able to tell, it does not. That would be disappointing if it doesn't. Thanks!
