    Handicap

Hey guys, I'm new to golf but have become absolutley addicted. I unerstand what a handicap is, but I want to know how to calculate my own. Also is it possible to calculate it by playing a bunch of 9 hole rounds and doubling? Also I have heard that things such as slope rating go into it, but I don't really know what that is. Thanks
  2. Ok, thanks fro all the responses guys! I'm going to go play either today or tomorrow and test my 3i and 4i out. If I'm really stuggling to hit them I'll probably try out a hybrid. And I tend to agree with arturo28mx the sound and feel of a nice iron shot is pretty satisfying. Also BuckeyeNut, what do you mean by "offset"? (sorry I'm really new to golf and still learning)
  3. Hey guys, I'm very new to golf but have started playing and have become absolutley addicted. I recently bought a set of TaylorMade R7 irons from my friend, because he just got new clubs. He suggested replacing the 3 and 4 with hybrids because "they are easier to hit". Can someone explain why they are easier, or friendlier and why long irons are difficult to hit? I played yesterday and didn't hit below the 5 iron (which I was actually hitting quite well), so I don't really know how I hit the 3 or the 4 as of now. Thanks
  4. Hey guys, I'm new to golf and new to this forum. I've played probably 20 times now and haven't really had a "breakout" round yet. But, yesterday went out and played a short 9, believe par is only 33 there. My friend and I didn't have time to play 18 at another course in my town hso we settled for the small municipal course. Anyway, I played the best round of my young golf career (still nothing great but improvement). I shot a 44, with 2 pars, and a birdie (hit a really nice chip shot that hit flagstick and dropped!). Really it came down to a few holes were I ended triple putting amd what not, but I was still pretty happy about the round and the biggest thing was my iron shots were actually getting the proper loft for the first time. As said before, a lot of work to do but I just felt like sharing
