I have only been playing about four months and looking for some irons. I went and hit the adams idea a12 os and cobra baffler. I liked them both but leaning toward the a12 for the hybrids. I was doing a little more research online and found a few people claiming sgi was a bad idea because they are outgrown quickly and can cause you to develop bad habits because they are so foregiving. What is your take? Is it a bad Idea? Should I go with a game improvement set as they suggested? If so what are some examples of gi irons as apposed to what I have been told are sgi in the a12 and baffler? I have also been considerin an a12 os complete set stiff. Any thoughts? Thanks guys! I always take notes!! He has had me working half speed so I think ill go one more lesson and a lot of practice before my next round! I had a blast at my lesson too if I could spend it with my buddies it would be even better but fun none the less!

I am getting ready to schedule my second lesson with a new coach third overall if u count what I did at the first as a lesson :( and was wondering if it was advisable to play a round in between. I took the first with him last saturday and didnt know if I should play a round next weekend or schedule my next lesson. On one side I feel it may be benificial to put what he gave me to use and on the other hand I dont want to go right back to what I was doing! What do you think/do?

I would take straight over longer any day!! So say I choose stiff would I want a regular driver and possibly fairways and stiff the rest of the way out? I tried pings website and it said lite flex driver but I have no idea of my handicap which it asks and not sure how far my driver goes due to inconsistency.?

Thanks guys i am going to wait a while and hope i can find a 5 iron or something just to let her try it and see what she thinks. She has a tendancy to be easily frustrated and if i bought a whole set i dont know how easy it would be to sell a womens left handed set! My wife is 5'9". Would she need a regular set or xl?

Thanks guys! I checked my swing speed today at dicks to try to get an idea of what flex I would need. It was higher than I expected. With a driver the first few swings were high seventies to low eighties and then jumped and stayed in the mid nineties. What flex should I look for for the different clubs?

Thanks abu3baid! I just had my first lesson with my new coach and it was awesome! Rather than try to modify my swing we started completely over which we both agreed was probably the best approach. We started from the very beginning went through grip approach backswing downswing and finish. He basically said the same thing as you but had me get in my apparoach stance with no club stood to my right facing the same direction and had me turn and shake his hand wich to me is essentially the same thing you are saying. In 45 minute ball flight was much straighter and swinging alot easier I would guess I had somewhere around a 25 percent increase in distance!! I am going to try and upload some new video soon to see what you guys think! Thanks again!

Thanks guys very good stuff! I have hit a d am trying to keep myself from pulling the trigger on the adams v3 hybrid iron set!! I want it but I cant decide if I think I need them or just want new stuff! Probably just want a shiny new toy but I guess thats what we do right!?

I am fairly new to the game and have been doing a little research on hybrids. There are many claims that they are forgiving and easy to hit. First of all is this true? Have you found them that much easier to hit than a long iron? Do you lose anything for what you could potentially gain? With most things in life you cant have it all! As a very high handicap player would you play hybrids with the intention of someday returning to long irons? Thanks in advance! !!

Is there anything in particular that you dont care for about them GingerGolfer? I have used a buddies adams super s I think it is and it seemed easier to hit to me but im not sure what im gaining and losing. Guess thsts probably something best figured out for each individual. ?

I see! Sorry I was feeling a bit defensive after reading a couple of threads where ppl were were being hateful just for the sake of doing so and I cant stand that! What do u guys think about hybrids for a newbie? I have a cheapie set that is about 10 yrs old now that a friend gave me as I have only been playing a few months. I am currently taking lessons and jist dreaming of future purchases. I have a ping rapture 9* driver 3and 5 woods. 3-9 pw and lw. All but the driver and lw are of the same set of cheap ram fx gold and the lw is acuity with an r flex graphite shaft. The putter Is also a ram. I thought upgrade the putter or possibly lw since It Is graphite. What do u think? Thanks!!

That makes a lot of sense to me! One of the reasons it does is because I know my iron swing is much more vertical and this is probably why I have such trouble with transition from driver to irons.? They are two different swings. I think I am subconciously trying to male up for the driver being so much longer. Thank you!

Lesson with new coach at 8am Saturday! Im pumped! Hopefully the vasectomy sutures hold up!

I iced the first day day two I felt pretty good. Day three even better. Day four I went back to work and felt ok but was sore that evening. Today is day five and I was extremely sore this morning!

I recently started golfing and I am completely obsessed. When my wife and I got married she told me I should give it a try and I laughed at her. Long story short she was right as usual! I am taking lessons and we both thought it would be fun if she would play as well so we started looking around for a cheap set of clubs but she has two strikes already as far as finding clubs. She is a she and she is left handed. The set we have been considering is the wilson profile hl. It is sold at stores like walmart and target. I wanted to find a nicer used set but that has proven to be pretty difficult. Is anyone familiar with this set? What do you think of it? Are there other options im overlooking. We also looked at top flight and possibly callaway strata.? Any input is greatly appreciated!!

I have looked at the v3r and the definitely look interesting. I had just about talked myself into a tight lies set but I dont think the driver would be much of an upgrade imo (my opinion on golf subjects is very near worthless) from my ping rapture and I dont think the putter would be much either. I also wouldnt use the bag so in essence I would be paying for a hybrid/iron set and a couple of fairway woods when I could get what seems to be a better hybrid iron set (possibly the v3r) and a couple of decent fairways for the same price. What do you think?

I was considering making a date of it and doing some couples lessons.

I have only been playing for about four months but love it! I would love to get my wife to try it but there is a problem. She is lrft handed! We dont want to spend a fortune finding ladies left handed clubs and I was wondering I assume it is just the flex of the shaft.? Is there something that would work like just a really light flex shaft so she could try it out?

Newbie here! I have been dreaming of new clubs knowing I dont need them at this point but dreaming none the less! I have looked at different iron hybrid sets and didnt know which would be best and what of my current clubs I would leave in if I got them. I currently have driver 3 and 5 wood 3-9irons pw lw and putter. There is one set that is 3 and 4 hybrid and 5-sw and another is 4 and 5 hybrid with 6-sw. So with a 4 and 5 hybrid would you leave the 3 fw in the bag? What do you carry??? Also are most guys loyal to one brand?? Thanks! !!
