  1. Usually stick to solid colored clothes as far as Golf goes. I'm part of that "younger generation with no fashion sense" so some of the ones brought up seem nice to me. Guess it's just my blatant lack of fashion sense though
  2. My advice for a putter is, don't listen to anyone about which putter to buy. Even more so than other parts of Golf, putting is about what YOU like. It's all about how good it feels to you. It could be a $25 walmart putter or a $300 Never Compromise Gambler. Just get to a Golf store that has a putting green and try different kinds of putters.
  3. Find people that are as serious as you are to golf with. If you're just being paired up with some random people at the course, make sure they know that you follow ALL the rules so they know what to expect while playing with you.
  4. New players don't care about scores (or they shouldn't at least). If you play your first year of golf with being able to get a free out from the sand, how do you think that will work out for them in their second year? Not well. Best for them to learn the real rules of golf from the beginning, that way when scores start to really matter to them they will know what they're going to be doing. Also depending on the person, being handed a "we know you suck so we made these rules to make you think you suck less" rule book wouldn't be making the sport seem like something they'd want to continue.
  5. I've always walked. It's nice to get a little extra exercise while golfing. Also gives you a chance to enjoy one of the best parts about golf, the fact that it's played in nature. Doesn't mean you should stop and smell the roses every 10 feet, but enjoying the nature that no other sport in the world is apart of like golf is a great idea. As far as speed goes, I wouldn't worry about it. As long as your putting decent numbers I doubt anyone would think you're playing slow, cart or no cart.
  6. If I could afford to be there in the first place I'd sure be willing to spend a grand on six shots from there.
  7. I don't and the people I golf with (when I'm not being a lone wolf ) don't want to either. Going back to the very basics of goal, the goal is get the ball into the hole with the fewest amount of strokes needed. Being able to have a mulligan or a "breakfast ball" is cheating. The only time I might do it is if we all agree to NOT PLAY THE FIRST SHOT and only play the second because at least that leaves the feeling that you need to perform with that first shot, unlike being able to choose the shot that you "like" the most.
  8. Keep your head down and keep your posture in check. I think I might just get a shirt with that sentence printed on it
  9. I've been looking at this site and reading the forums for a while and thought that now was a good time to sign up considering that after playing the game at a VERY young age, I'm now starting to play again. As I said before, I used to play when I was very young because both my parents are avid golfers. Then I became obsessed with Football (some on here will know it as soccer, but even though I live in the US it's always been a pet peeve of mine that people don't call the sport Football when just about the whole world does just because of the NFL) and played that from I'd guess age 5 on. My interest in golf came back when it was recommended to me to find a hobby to take my mind off Football, which many coaches say will increase your level of play. For a month or so, I was fairly lost. Football had been the only thing I've done besides school and I didn't know what else there was to do as far as hobbies or sports went. Then I began thinking of golf again and decided that now was the perfect time to start golfing again. So now I'm here, I have a new set of irons and a new putter (still need drivers) and have been taking them to my local driving range regularly. I still have to balance Football practice and Golfing at the same time, but it's been working well because Football practices are generally later in the day so it's been golf in the morning and Football at night. It's been fun and I'm glad I finally signed up here so I have some people to talk about my second sport with
