I have been playing 10 to 15 years with a strong grip. Right handed and right hand v points to no mans land. I've really gotten used to it over the years but I want to improve my accuracy. A round typically goes like this. Out of ten shots I'll prolly hit 4 to 5 straight balls. 2 to 3 pulls with a slight hook on them. Usually large misses that cause me the most trouble and about 2 cuts. Slight misses that do not really kill me. I shoot in the high 70's now and today a I tried a more neutral grip. Mainly just my right hand. And I totally blocked everything out to the right and had a horrible round. Everything was blocked so bad almost resembled a shank. And it is very uncomfortable to have a neutral grip. I'm deciding whether I should stick with it and fix what other underlying swing issue there is or just go back to my old grip. What should I do? Any tips for major blocks would be helpful haha

Thank you for the explanation and drill mike, much appreciated! Will be working on those turning rates especially at the beginning of backswing/takeaway. Hopefully this can alllow me to clean up the head movement on the downswing as well. I'll let you guys know the changes being made.

Thanks slice, appreciate it. it sounds too easy but i concentrate on staring at the golf ball on the backswing while rotating my shoulders around. Spine and head should feel anchored, while body moves around that point.

Got the feet turned outward (more toe out) Also got more hip turn. Still have some flexion in the left arm at the top though.

Thanks iacas and mvmac, I'm gonna try your advice !! hopefully ill get some video evidence of improvement up soon!

haha sorry about the camera. Thanks. normal ball flight is straight or a small cut. My bigger misses are an occasional pull hook, a handfull in 18 holes. Working on cleaning up posture and increasing turning rates. Haha sorry i promise it wont happen again! Im still struggling with this mvmac, thanks for the video. I don't like how i have some left arm breakdown and the right flexes a little too much. Whats the best feeling to stop this?? Also in the video my head just on the downswing moves backwards, probably compensating for an issue in my swing place. I'm a low ball hitter. Play with a group of 20 guys from scratch to 12-14 handicaps and I have one of the lowest ball flights of them all

3 short irons and a driver swing. hope to get some feedback! thanks everybody

Sorry I do not. I'm traveling for work this week. Will post something this weekend though!

It's been a year since I updated my swing on here guys. I worked on cleaning up my setup and increasing turning rates this summer. Recently shot 80, 72, 77 in my club championship. Any help or criticism offered on my swing is appreciated.

In this swing your coming up and out of it a decent amount (losing your spine angle and toosh line pretty noticeably). I would try to quiet down the feet especially the right foot before and at impact. Also it looks like your takeaway involves a lot of wrist hinge, i prefer to set the hands more towards the top of the backswing. Good luck with everything

What do you guys prefer out of the rough with little green to work with? I use a flop shot from time to time and I'm either money with it or it's a poor shot. I also use a pitch shot with little roll (not hinging my hands). I find this is the safer play with a bunch of decent shots but hardly any gimmies out of tough positions. I specefically say out of the rough because I think using a flop shot out of the fairway is not a great idea. Too much of a high percentage when a pitch shot will work just fine.

looks like a solid athletic swing. One thing I see at first glance is a little too much knee bend. I would take some of that out.

It feels good, feels like I'm letting my body do more of the work(hips and shoulders) rather than the arms. I picked up 5 yards on all of my irons too. Next I'm going to try to work on my weakening my ultra strong grip. I'm semi reluctant to do this because I am hitting if fairly straight. Do you think changing my release(go ahead and release the hands sooner) along with weakening the grip will produce the best results mike?

Thanks Steve, I'm going to work on my grip next. The most success I am having with changing my game is working on one thing at a time. A super strong grip is def a tough thing to change too haha, i'm finding that out the hard way

Shot 74, 2 over today Mike, heres the adjustments I made (at the range prior).

Thanks a lot Mike I appreciate it! I learned more from you on here than I learned in a few lessons. I will be putting this to work ASAP.

Thanks for taking a look Mike. I will do this and let you know how it goes. Sorry for all the questions, but when you saying turning rate do you mean amount of turn and the speed at which I turn? so more degree of turn and a faster rate?

Here's the link to my swing I started a few weeks ago Mike. http://thesandtrap.com/t/68838/my-swing-stb5089 Some of the videos aren't great quality. My weaknesses are flexing my right elbow way too soon, strong grip (I have had zero success changing it), and loss of toosh line causing my right hip too crash towards the ball. Strengths : hand eye coordination lol, I played pro baseball at the minor league level. I'm currently working on a hip turn on my backswing bc once I filmed myself I realized I have little hip turn. Any help would be greatly apprecaited Mike, I feel like I semi know what I'm doing wrong, I just can't fix it for the life of me. Thanks Mike!

haha sounds good mike, Thanks for the advice earlier.

Thanks Mike its all depends on each person. My grip is strong to very strong so I look closed at A2 through A5. If you had to give someone one tip on how to be as consistent as possible with a strong grip what would it be? sorry to get off topic here. would it be a delayed release/flat left wrist through impact. I have worked on changing my grip over the years to a more neutral position but have had very little success with it. I'm trying to emulate my swing off of Boo Weekly (he has a very strong grip thats why I study him). Any tips would be awesome. Thank you and sorry for the rambling.

Thanks mvmac, I think the idea of pushing my right hand away will work for me, Right now I start flexing the right arm almost right off the takeaway. Would you guys be okay with this as long as I get it square at the top of the backswing?
-
Okay thank you Erik. I will be working on this ASAP.

Your amount of fairways hit in a round is real solid and your number of putts isn't bad either. Iron play seems to be problem area?
