Ok gaijin golfer if you look farther back in the post you will see a study that shorty posted that will inform you on what I was saying was proven. I never mentioned golfguru in any if my posts on here and know that he has no scientific baking. I would repost the study shorty had posted. But again I have read almost every post on this thread as to why there is or is not a difference in feel. With that said I will stand my ground and say that there is a perceived feeling whether its true or not. If someone believes the get a better feel from a club then they do who cares if its true or not really. I believe I get a better feel from my forged then I do my cast yes I believe when I strike my forged true it fells like butter. Who cares that's my belief. People believe in god and Buddha and all kinds of other things. So who wins that argument no one. Thanks

20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
spam replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I am not a 20 hc and I do hit 300 yard drives just would not call it a average lol. My posted index is higher then what I'm playing right now just have not got my handicap updated so I posted my last known handicap. But I agree that most 20 handicaps are not striking as well as lower handicap cap guys. I have a buddy who is a 20 handicap drives well and has decent iron play but puts like a blind guy so handicaps don't always mean you can't strike well. -
I like to pro v1x it's speedy but they feel great off the putter and do what I want around the green. But I also get most of mine for free from a buddy that works at a golf store his boss gives him up to 5 boxes a month and he rarely loses a ball so he has a huge stock lol. But if I buy balls I play the noodle long and soft for the feel off the putter. But just try a couple different brands and you will find what you like. Discount does not always mean garbage. If there is a ball to stay away from is nitro I broke 3 in half in one round just crap. No ego builder when my son broke one he is 11 and hits every thing thin. But he is getting better. His golf pro says its better to be thin then fat at his age

I still think this horse has been beat to death on the feel thing. Shorty your study you posted opened my eyes thank you for that. The feel thing is scientifically proven to be false. But we all have out own perception in which science can not change so shorty's argument is won on the science part. But will never be won with the perception part. So for the sake of argument either start a new thread on the subject or agree to disagree as I have. Firged vs cast has been a argument that will never be won its almost like a holy war lol.i know my x forged are 1020 steel I'm not sure about other clubs or that much about steel but if its a softer steel then it may support the previously post about softer forged clubs. Not saying anyone is right just pointing it out about the steel used on my clubs. Have a great time golfing as we all should

20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
spam replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I never said I don't hit 300 yard drives I do hit them but I don't play my driver as much as most. I use it a lot but would not say I hit 300 avg. I will hit some but if I start spraying the ball I will pull my 3 wood and sacrifice distance for accuracy. 300 yards is not uncommon for the guys I play with but if ya know Washington our air here can get pretty heavy lol. -
20+ handicappers hitting 300 yards (mild rant)
spam replied to extremeld's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
i would have to say that a high handicapper can hit 300 yards. at the same time a broken clock works twice a day so with that said if you think you hit for a avg of 300 i would call bs. i have been on many courses in my area that the markers are off in the fairway and the tee box is back or up so to know the true distance you need a laser and chances of a 20 hc having a laser pretty slim there still trying to buy there game at the pro shop. now i could believe a 300 yard drive that sprayed 150 yards right and 150 out lol. i have hit like maybe 2 300 yard drives and i believe i crush my driver. i have driver swing speed that is 115 but i have had a wind at my back and a solid fairway that gave me a huge bounce so yea i call BS -
Ok so can we end the argument on the forged and cast so this guy can get his question answered lol. It was fun debating but now I feel guilty for us all high jacking his thread. Golfingdad honestly after I posted my comment I was dumbfounded by the same part and I posted it lol sounded good in my head but not on paper lmao. Either way both sides have good points and after reading the study believe there is no real difference other then what you perceive as feel. Whether its sons ball flight or just club design and shaft combination. Sorry rmgolfer this got so far from subject.

Again this is a argument that will never be won for either side. Perceived and fact. They are both valid. And if I remember right the study had one pro hit both clubs but maybe I read I wrong. But I did find it informative and like I also said it blew my mi d how much your brain can make ya feel as though you have felt something you have not
-
For sure try all and go with what you like. I would agree they may not be softer but that was not my argument. I prefer the feel I get I think that my clubs I'm playing now feel better then the cast I have played in the past. But I think all in all we are way of subject. This is a argument that can go on and on with no resolution lol I will agree to disagree on the matter of feel. It's like a ford and chevy argument. I appreciate the study shorty found and posted it was crazy to see how perception a science are so far apart.

Should I take the my driver out of my bag?
spam replied to mflames44's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I play my 3 wood way mor off the tee then my driver. I hit my driver ok but if I'm struggling with it I will sacrifice distance for accuracy and pleasure lol. Try a stronger grip with your driver and try not to strangle the grip. Trust your hands the club will not fly out of your hands with a proper grip and pressure. I have found when I do t feel confident I try and strangle the club in turn causes me to not close the face and leave it open and also swing across the ball. Grip the club with the same pressure as holding a baby bird in your hands soft yet secure. If your tense in your swing is the Same a trying to run with straight legs. Good luck don't give up on the driver. Pull it if you feel good about it then don't think about it being your driver look at it as if your hitting your three wood. -
After reading the study he posted I did understand his stance. But at the same time it was still sounding to me that his stance was still that a forged club does not have a better feel which his posting of the study supported. With that said I was pointing out that the feel is in the eye of the beholder or in better words perceived by the player. My argument may be trivial at best. I can see both sides. I have played cast clubs I liked a bunch and swore I would never take out of my bag but I found forged to feel better off the sweet spot. I do understand his point and was well taken.

Ok so there is a study but again feel is in the eye of the beholder. Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Science is ok for some people to stand on. I my self have played cast and now am playing forged and I like the feel of the club better. I don't believe that makes me wrong. I have played cast my whole life and have found that I like forged better due to the feel I get whether real or perceived. But again this is not a argument on the fact of feel. Thank you shorty for the study you found it was good reading. And also thank you for finally posting your thoughts on the clubs.

If you were a little farther north I would say you could game my sticks for a round to test them out but shipping them for a demo would have them away to long lol
-
If you not stuck on just callaway I would also suggest mizuno I liked the sets I tried out but just could not find a set in my price range. I ended up getting my callys for 100 bucks off eBay. It was a unheard of deal so I pulled the trigger in hopes they were as good of shape as it said in the post. And lucky me they were. Good luck and hope it all works for you. Also I did not scroll back up to see if I had posted that I did not see a real difference in yardage going to my x forged. Also I heard the newer pxi shafts are the cream. I liked the KBS line too
-
I just got the 07 x forged irons with the px 6.0 and I found them to be fairly easy to hit and did not lose much distance from my older GI clubs. As far as the x hots I liked the feel and didn't like the sound they had. I think a lot of our feel is based on sound. But at the same time when you hit a forged club clean there is no better sound or feel so shorty I think a far as feel its in the eye of the beholder and cause your having the same problem you stated as not being able to change your views your scientific bs is not what he was asking. Have you played either club and what do ya think not your science degree off a lucky charms box.

rookie needs a wedge recommendation
spam replied to G22inSC's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Agreed wutiger but as a rookie why spend a bunch on wedges that you may not like. I would say hit as many as ya can. And at the end of the day buy what you like no matter the brand. If its cheap and you like it buy it. I play mixed and only one is a major brand IMO. If I was in the market for wedges now I would definitely be trying out better brands but as of now I'm happy with what I have. At the end of the day the message from me is demo and buy what you like regardless of brand. -

its not about brand. for some i base most of my purchases on feel. i play a knight 56 and a callaway 60 and a pin seeker 52 so im all over the place. dont buy so much into brands right now as all my buddies tell everyone that starts out with us you can not buy buy a golf game you learn and earn your game. game what you can afford. the score card can not see whats in your bag. play the warriors if ya like them keep them. if not demo demo demo. hope this helps -
New Grips Not "Curing" Golf Prides
spam replied to David L Yskes's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
As far as epoxy goes i have only seen that used on like the super stroke non tapered putter grips. as far as the irons tape only i use thin double sided tape for like laminate repair or something like that i get it at the hardware store the whole roll is like 10 bucks and i have done like 4 sets and still have most of the roll. i may be using the wrong stuff but it works great. have had no problems with loose grips or regripping them after wards. very easy to do if you have a vice or a compressor and some times you can get a friend to help. i would take them some were else if they are using epoxy -
i like callaway but i would demo as many as you can. taylormade has been a good wedge for a long time. you could use your 50 and open it up a bit in the sand or get a 56 that ya like. i personally don't like a lot of bounce on my wedges so like i said try some with varying bounce angles. such as say a 56/14, which in my opinion is a lot of bounce or a 56/08 or lower if you can find and brands i also like the line. i personally have bought a lot of wedges off line and still play a callaway 60 and 52 with a knight 56. yes a knight i believe i bought it at a garage sale but just cant pull it out of my bag so its all feel not name

Can someone identify this club for me?
spam replied to EricTheDuckFan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Adams did have a spin control iron set but still not sure it has anything to do with this club. Adams is usually really good at marking the club heads. I would lean towards a reshaft. Yet I'm not 100% on that but I would lean that way -
I really liked the feel of the speed line just the ball flight was a little higher then I wanted. I live up in Washington state and it can get blustery and I like to keep it a little lower.

Wilson STAFF vs Wilson STAFF's reputation
spam replied to Paddymaster's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I was gaming a set of first series fat shafts for the last couple years. Lives them but moved on to a set of callaway x forged. Wilson is getting back on track for sure I love there new line up the ci 11 are nice I almost bought those instead and there pricing is great for what you get. There lifts seem to be pretty strong though bug hey who cares lol. Driver wise the d100 is pretty nice. Demo demo demo all the Wilson line and others but give them a shot I give them 5 more years an they will be competing with the big boys again -
I hit everything from Adams and cobra and also loved the taylormade rescue 11 I bout a 3 and 4 the only problem I have is that they are a little harder to draw then others but I hit those things from anywhere. Also bought a 5 that just sits in my garage. I got a good deal on the 3 but love them

I have been hitting callaway for awhile and love the razer hawk but I'm really loving my new razer fit I'm a solid 18 handicap and seem to hit this club strainer then any other I have had. I did demo the new Adams speed line and liked it but seem to like the feel and ball flight from the cally
