  1. So a little background. I have a Master's Degree in Business Administration and 6+ years of finance/accounting experience at a casino/resort. I also have some experience in small business consulting. Prior to and during school, I worked at various retaraunts, both in the kitchen and on the floor, and thought I might like to own/run a retsaurant one day? I was laid off a few months ago becuase the construction project I was working to help manage was closed out. I am looking for work, and it is a tough market out there, but was looking to move a little away from the accounting functions, and use my education/experience to work on the operations side of things, and I love the outdoors and obviously golf. So I think a great fit for my skill sets would be a country club management type job. They are obviosly hard to come by, but if anyone has any experience in the industry, or knows anyone buying a course, and looking for someone to run the operations, or simply have any ideas on the subject. Side Note: Locally (RI) there is a course that was purchased by foxwoods, maybe 7 years ago, and was subsequently closed down when they built a 36 hole championship course closer to thier property. I cannot figure out who owns the property, and I am comming up short researching on the net. It was a beautiful course years ago when I played it, and I think that if marketed correctly, and brought back to life, the club, restaurant and banquet facilities could do very well. I just cannot imagine that someone owns such a nice course, and it sits unplayed for years...doesnt make sense. Anyone interested in buying the course, and having me run it? lol. Thanks for the ideas/comments/concerns... B
  2. Well I am new as well...lurking for awhile, I think that this site is a great place to learn and I have a very similar question. I only have 13 clubs at the moment, and I am not sure what I should add, because I feel like I am wasting space. I carry Driver, 2-9, PW, SW, LW and putter. I hit my 2 iron farly well, and I have always had problems with hybrids and fairway woods...I consider myself pretty good from off the green, and I think I would benifit from another wedge, but like the feel of having all the same set, and If i got a new wedge it would feel out of place (very ocd'ish, I know)...So I was thinking of a 3W....should I just order a wedge from ping? I heard they will replace 1 club from an original set, but this particular set did not have the other wedge. Am I crazy? As for the question...I think if you have trouble with the distance shots, you would get more out of a fairway wood, but I don't know much...
  3. 1st time poster...been lurking for weeks now. I have been playing on and off for years, but decided to get alot of time in this year, and get "better". I am normally a duffer with flashes of brilliance. It has been a good day if I break 100, or shoot high 90's. So far this year, after 7-8 rounds nothing below 100. AWFUL start, but I am still very determined, lol. I purchased all "new" gear this year. Cleveland Hibore XLS Draw 9.0 (from a Hibore XL 10.5) and 2-LW Ping Zing 2's. Also Purchased a TaylorMade Monza Corza Belly putter, as I was always "shaky" with my other, 3 putts were the norm. So I feel I am finally adjusting to all the clubs, and today, after work, I went out for a quick nine, maybe more if we could fit it in. 45 on the front...I was very happy...then I go on to hit 43 on the back...Needless to say I was pumped. The 18th was in complete darkness (Long Par 3) and I took a 5. Overall there were 3 strokes I could have saved by taking my time...(10th hole we were not sure if we were going to take off, or play a few more, and On in two, my second putt wasd rushed as we were half walking off). So very realistically I could have had an 85...a personal best by a longshot, which prompted me to finally sign up and post... Maybe my new found "game" is due to my recent viewing of this forum...coincidence? Thanks for listening...the wife does not "get" it and was not extremely excited about my score like I was...lol
