  1. I agree. My EZ-1 irons are worth every cent. I was switching from iron set to iron set like a crack addict until I found these irons. These irons will not be kicked out of my bag for any other iron set. I just walk by my golf bag and I have to stop and take a look at them, that`s how beautiful they are. Even better when you hit them.
  2. I just got a set of Scratch EZ-1 irons and they are definitely the best irons I've ever hit. I traded my Rocketbladez Tour irons straight up for them. It`s the first time I`ve had the privilege of hitting forged irons and I`ll never go back to cast clubs. I like cast irons but the feel of forged irons surpasses cast in every way. You are correct when you stated that the forged irons from Scratch are made with 1018 Plain Carbon Steel (which means that there is 0.18% carbon in this particular steel, making them very soft). As for price, the EZ-1 Irons from Scratch are retailed on their website for $1300. Very pricey.
  3. Yep, those are my irons. They are a great looking club. They're retailed on their website for $1300!! So I guess I got a good deal. They are excellent clubs and I couldn't be happier with them. I can't wait to get outdoors with them. You can only tell so much at an indoor range and with simulators as well. I need to get to an outdoor range and see the ball in full flight. I know the feel of these irons is exactly what I've been looking for as this is the first time I've gone with a forged iron. I can't believe I've waited this long!!!
  4. Hey guys, just recently picked up a set of Scratch EZ-1 Forged Irons 4 - PW. These irons are incredible. They came equipped with KBS Tour stiff shafts and the feel of these sticks is exactly what I've been looking for. My previous set was a set of Taylormade Rocketbladez Tour irons but for some stupid reason I was fitted with X-Stiff shafts and I could never get the feel right because I don't have the club head speed. I traded the Rocketbladez for the Scratch irons straight up and it was the best deal I've made yet. This is going to be a good season. It's my first season with forged irons but I absolutely love the feel when struck pure. Has anyone else had any experience with Scratch irons? Not just the wedges, I mean an entire set. Just curious about your opinions. I can't wait for the season to start. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Rocketbladez but this was a deal I just couldn't pass up. I love the plain, classy look of the irons as well. Cheers.
  5. I have the Rocketbladez Tours with KBS Tour X-Stiff shafts and I love them. I was struggling at the outdoor range the other day but it was only around 20 degrees out, effin freezing!! At the indoor range in a warm climate, when struck pure, these irons feel amazing. I was really worried about the shafts because my swing speed with my irons is only 80mph but I felt no real difference between the KBS and my old stock stiff shafts on my RACS. I'm hitting the ball about the same trajectory, maybe a little lower (normally a high ball hitter) and about 5 -8 yards further on each club. So, far, love the clubs. The real test will be when I finally get out on a course in the summer.
  6. They keep the balls inside the clubhouse until you're ready to hit the range. I guess that they may be warm for a couple of minutes but it probably doesn't take long for them to get cold in that kind of weather. The funny things is that I woke up this morning feeling really stiff and that never happens to me when I hit a bucket or two so I'm thinking that the cold was causing me to make some errors in my swing. I hope that's all it was.
  7. Hey guys, I recently got a killer deal on a set of Rocketbladez Tour Irons but the only drawback was that they have X-Stiff shafts. My swing speed with irons is 80mph so I was really worried that I would have problems. Well, I've been going to an indoor range because it's freaking freezing here and I love them. I'm striking the ball straight, high and from the feel I expect some decent distance and I hardly feel a difference from my old stiff shafts on my old RACS. Now, today I went to a heated outdoor range but it was still only -5* Celsius (23* F). No matter how much I stretched and warmed up, I still felt stiff from the cold. When I started to hit balls, everything was going to the right. Not so much a slice with my irons as a straight push. Now could this be attributed to the fact that I was not limber enough to be squaring up the club face at impact due to the cold weather? At the indoor range there is no straight push whatsoever. I hit my irons dead straight there. So could it be that I was too cold and stiff to put in a solid swing or is it that the shafts are too stiff and they are not allowing me to square up the club face (even though I can do it fine in a warm climate) One more thing, I know that you lose distance in the cold but I'm a little worried about this to. I normally hit my 8 iron 150 - 155 yards. Today in the dead of winter I was hitting my 8 iron about 110 yards. Should I be worried that the shafts are causing me to lose a considerable amount of distance or is that normal to lose that much distance in that cold of weather? I'm a little stressed because I've come A LONG WAY due to the lessons I've been taking and I don't want these shafts to screw everything up (even though I know that I can get fitted and replace them it's just a money factor right now, all my clubs were stolen and I had to replace everything). Remember, in a warm climate I love the way these clubs feel and when I hit it pure, the ball is going dead straight. Thanks guys.
  8. I'm not good enough yet to be giving any tips. The only tip that I can back up 100% is take some lessons with a certified pro, one that you can develop a good relationship with and practice your ass off. Practice what he teaches you so that when you attend your next lesson, you're ready for it and your not wasting his and your time. That's it. Lessons have helped me huge. Creating lag for effortless power. One thing that he has taught me that is 100% true is that "feel and real" are 2 totally different things. It may feel like you are doing something but in actuality, when you look back at the video you are not. He taught me to compress my back swing because it was way too long. I though that I was shortening it quite a bit but I was only shortening it like 1/10 of the swing. To properly shorten your backswing you have to "feel" like you are stopping it almost right away, after take away. You aren't though, it just feels that way. You end up creating a more controlled backswing with much less room for error and you are no longer swinging past parallel. It helps to keep the club on plane and the club head square at impact. This works great for me though, it might not work for someone else, everyone is different. Lessons, lessons, lessons, if you are serious about the game like me and everyone else on here! lol!
  9. Is no one looking forward to Men's Hockey!? It's always an incredible tournament. You're talking about the elite of the elite here. I know that a lot of people disagree with putting professional athletes into an amateur event like the Olympics but they do the same with Basketball and it'll be the same with Golf. Anyways, it's a killer tournament and I'm thinking Canada can walk away with a repeat this year (hoping lol). Russia is going to be the toughest opponent mainly because they're definitely going to want to win this on home ice. Sweden will be tough as always and I don't think the U.S. will medal this year. The U.S always struggles on an international ice surface as does Canada but Canada's depth is almost unmatched. Canada can compete with 4 teams with all of the talent they have!
  10. I love TM's products. I know there are a lot of haters out there but they work for me. I just traded in my RBZ Tour 3 Wood for the Jetspeed 3 Wood. Reason being is that the RBZ Tour launched way too low off of the deck. I tried the Jetspeed and got great results so I made the trade. I was actually going to trade for the Nike Covert or the Titleist 910F but I got better results with the Jetspeed and that's not TM bias talking either. It's a great club. High launch off of the deck, minimal dispersion and even better off of a tee. The stock shaft is ok but can be improved aftermarket. Just my 2 cents.
  11. I'm building a driving net in my basement today to practice elements of my swing such as a proper shoulder turn on my backswing, generating lag, keeping the clubface square through impact and a good release (3/4 release because my ceiling isn't high enough). As long as I have my release pointing to 1:00 clock, then when I go to the range or the course I'll have the muscle memory to release my club properly to the target instead of coming across my body like so many of us amateurs do. I'll do anything to keep practicing what I've learned so far through my lessons. They have improved my swing and my game ten fold. Effortless power! It's amazing what you can accomplish if you have a fundamentally solid swing.
  12. It's a healthy obsession. I don't spend money that would otherwise interfere with my mortgage, bills etc., and the basis of my obsession would be that I continually want to improve. I just love the game, completely.
  13. Ha, ha, ha!!! This is great. I feel much better knowing that I`m in like-minded company. This is a great forum, so glad I found it. Golf is officially a passion for me now and I know for a fact that it drives my family NUTS! I`m always thinking about certain aspects of my swing and I mean always. Like I stated in another thread, I finally completed my set and it`s incredible. The only thing that keeps me sane during the winter months is looking at my clubs and how beautiful they are. lol . That and indoor ranges and lessons. Cheers everyone!!
  14. I'm an absolute, 100% fanatic; a golf addict. I always thinking about my swing, equipment and the next time I'm going to the range or the course. I'm totally obsessed with this game and the golf bug has bit me hard. I've been taking lessons with amazing results and it seems all I want to do is hit balls, whether at the range or getting out on the course. I'm always looking at my clubs and daydreaming during the winter months or finding a way to practice indoors, to keep my swing sharp. I'm very happy that I found this game. It keeps me out of trouble and I needed a passion like this in my life. The only problem is that I have an addictive personality and I'm definitely addicted to golf. I'm not making any impulse purchases for the sake of having the newest club or anything like that it's just that I'm really obsessed with the game. It's always fun, which is good but as soon as it stops becoming fun then I'll have to step back and reassess everything. I honestly don't find that happening anytime soon though. There are too many courses to play and way to big of a learning curve to EVER get bored of the game. Anyone else addicted to the sport like this?
  15. I go to an indoor range about 2 or 3 times a week but that can start to add up, money wise. When I'm not at the range, I would like to learn a few indoor drills to keep my swing sharp. I've been taking lessons for the past 3 months (with video analysis) and my swing has improved dramatically. I'm extremely confident when addressing the ball and my results are improving constantly. I took a couple of weeks off and when I came back to the range, it took me a few trips to get back into the groove and to get the muscle memory back of the new swing. Are there any indoor drills that I can do so that when I'm not going to the range or seeing my coach, I don't fall back into those bad habits or lose that muscle memory? Cheers.
  16. I hear ya. That is a shot that I would like to add to my arsenal. The more options you have and the more creative you are around the green, the better position you are in when it comes to putting out. I'm open to learning new shots but right now, my 60* works wonders for me. Not always mind you and that's when a chip and run comes in handy. It's not that I don't know how to execute the shot, it's learning distance control that's the problem right now for a chip and run. Practice, practice, practice.
  17. That's a common misconception. Massachusetts normally gets the same winter weather as where I'm from in Canada. Not all of Canada is a frozen tundra like so many Americans think. lol!! Half of America is just as cold or even colder in some spots than the most populated areas of Canada. Anyways, I'm not saying that you think that. It's just that this winter, for many areas in Canada and the U.S. has been especially brutal which is going to make this years golf season even sweeter. Especially because I've been taking lessons with video analysis all winter and my swing has improved 10 fold. Can't wait to get on a course with my buddies and show the improvements....................hopefully!!! lol! It's all about trusting the swing I guess.
  18. Yep. We're getting that 6" of snow too. This winter has been a long one so far. Cold and snow since early November and we normally don't get that kind of weather until late December, early January. Argh!!!!!

    Hockey Fans

I know this is an old thread but my brother was a huge Nordiques fan, especially Peter Statsny and bros (Anton and Marion, I think). He's now an Avs fan, big Sakic fan (when he was playing obviously). I think that Quebec City should definitely be the next expansion city. Never mind Vegas or Kansas City or even Seattle. Now that there is a cap in place, the smaller Canadian franchises can easily compete.
  20. I was just curious as to how many of you have to endure arctic like winters? I mean below freezing, lots of snow. I live in Niagara Falls, Canada and this winter is the absolute worst winter we've had in the last decade. For the last 10 years we've had very mild winters with little to no snow. This year, it's been an average of -10* to -15* and the snow keeps coming. I never really minded the cold until I became a golfer, now I despise it. I find myself wandering into my garage just to stare at my clubs and day dream of a beautiful day on the course . Thank god for indoor ranges!!! How many of you guys/girls have to deal with cold weather like this?
  21. Possibly. Anything from 60 yards and in I use my lob wedge religiously. My short game is the better part of my game so maybe adding an extra tool will give me more options; close the gap between my 52* and 60*. I've always lived by the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Still a possibility though.
  22. You're right. Pics are much better. I'll take a few then post em. Thanks for the heads up.
  23. Just thought that I'd share what's in my bag. I've been working really hard on putting together my ideal set and it's finished. I'm a big Taylormade fan but that doesn't mean that I didn't try out other brands and models. Here's what's in my bag: 1) Driver - R9 Super-Tri (I bought this club 1 and a half years ago and I love it. Not leaving my bag yet.) 2) Taylormade RBZ 3 Wood Tour 14.5* 3) Cleveland CG Black 7 Wood 4) Irons - Taylormade Rocketbladez Tour 4 - PW 5) Wedges - Taylormade ATV 52* Gap Wedge and ATV 60* Lob Wedge 6) Putter - Odyssey White Ice D.A.R.T. Blade Shafts on irons and wedges are KBS Tour stiff. Driver is stock Fujikura Motore stiff. 3 Wood is stock Matrix Ozik stiff and the 7 wood has a stock Miyazaki C. Kua stiff. Grips on all clubs except the putter are Golf Pride Tour Velvet. Love my set. What's in your bag and is anyone working on getting certain clubs to complete it? Let us know. .
  24. That makes sense. Thanks for the info.
  25. I recently purchased a used set of Mizuno MP 32 Irons (4-PW) and I absolutely love them. I've always used game improvement cavity backs (currently own a set of Taylormade Rocketbladez, which I also love) but I feel more confident with bladed irons, especially at address. The stock shafts, Dynamic Gold S300, don't seem stable enough (if that makes any sense). I was wondering which are the better shafts for launching the ball into a higher trajectory. I normally hit the ball nice and high but with the Mizuno's, my ball flight is much lower, so I'd like to reclaim that high flight with my blades. Any help would be appreciated.
