  1. I'm very satisfied with the Wilson Staff Ci6 set I purchased a few months ago. It's a midsize iron with a classic cavity back design. The current model is the Ci7. If you're looking for more of a traditional size player's iron than this, you can try the Staff Pi7. They're the current model of the Staff Pi5 set that Padraig Harrington won the Open with last year. I think these clubs generally got favorable reviews from the usual club testing magazines and web sites. The best thing is to find a demo day where you can try several brands. Good luck!
  2. What irons are you currently using?
  3. I do miss metal spikes. There are a lot of good plastic cleats out there, but I think metal spikes still have superior grip.
  4. I've always liked Ping putters, especially the classic Anser design. Pings have just the right amount of weight - Odyssey putter seem too light. But, with that said, I recently reshafted an old Acushnet Bullseye John Reuter Jr. putter just for grins. I tried it on the course a couple of times, and guess what's in my bag as my main putter now? Not sure why it works so well for me, but I do find it easier to line up putts with the thin blade shape of the Bullseye as opposed to the modern "blade" putters with their heel & toe weights and bottom flanges. I also don't find a problem with distance control with the Bullseye, which was always said to be their main problem vs. the modern putter designs. Oh well, back to the future. But I don't plan on using hickory shafts or laminated woods though.
  5. Other - I'll vote for Wilson. They've really revitalized their Staff line of products and their prices are very reasonable.
