  1. Rangefinder for me. This helps during a round. Misses right/left, fairways and number of puts I register using Golfshot and I somehow don't see myself spending time after the round to correct my game golf round. I do know a few people that are quite happy with their game golf though, perhaps I'm being too sceptic.
  2. hmpff, no edit button with safari. So it's going to be another post... I actually really dislike game golf for showing your club averages. When playing any shot, I always assume I'm making a good swing. If I would take my game golf average, I'd be hitting a 7 iron for 100 yards, because that might be my average after I've hit one shank and one tree where the ball actually ended behind me (this HAS happened to me). The idea of game golf is that you also tag those horrible shots. This will skew up your averages.
  3. More like 'best hole of the week' A few days ago I played our blue course (we have 4 9-holes tracks that can be combined for 18 holes). It was dusk, nearing to night. The hole is a 440 yard par 4 with a slight dogleg to the right. Hit a good drive about 250 yards, middle of the fairway. When we got to my ball I couldn't make out where the flag was anymore. So I decided to hit a 5 iron to center green. I hit a pure shot, but pushed the shot a bit. Turns out the flag was on the right side of the green and my push had guided the ball in the right direction. I ended up making the 15 footer for birdie! I don't birdie that hole very often. The next day we have a competition. Once again we get to this hole (our last) really close to darkness. This time I hit my drive right, behind some trees. I can only chip out and am left with a 165 yard shot. The flag was still in the same position, so this time I aim my 7-iron to the right side of the green. I hit it a bit thin, but it ends up pin high about 12 foot left of the hole. I also sink this put, netting me a cool par. I seem to play this hole much better in darkness :)
  4. We also need a distance for the putter, I believe mr. Sadlowski can hit his around 320 yards :)
  5. Ah, not logged in for a while and see a nice discussion on my numbers :) Driver/3 Wood are indeed not as far as I'd like them to be. This is mainly because I hit my woods like irons. Negative angle of attack is robbing me of lots of distance. I'm happy I finally have a driver that I seem to launch a bit higher. I used to have a Project X tour issue shaft in the driver. My current Diamana S+ is launching way higher. Still the total distances with my woods are not what I'd like them to be. The other day I was playing a 375 yard par 4, wind was against and must have been at least a 4 beaufort wind. I wanted to hit driver, but decided to hit a 4 iron insteas (there was water within slicing/fading distance). I hit a low knuckleball that rolled out to 200 yards. Another (less well hit) 4 iron brought me on the fringe, chip/put made a nice par. Later that round I measured the group in front at about 230 yards, and hit another 4 iron. This one rolled passed them (but this was with helping wind). I guess I need a few lessons to be able to hit up on the ball (driver).
  6. Driver: 240 3 wood: 230 3 hy: 210 4i: 205 5i: 190 6i: 182 7i: 165 8i: 155 9i: 145 pw: 135 gw: 120 sw: 100 Not much between 3hy and 4i, but the flight is quite different. 3Hy is high, with almost no roll, 4i is in general a low screamer with lots of roll. My drives used to be 50yrds carry but since I upgraded to 915 with Diamana S+ I manage a much higher flight. Will come in very handy in winter when my homecourse is soaking wet. All distances are including roll, but other than 4i and 5i I generally hit it reasonably high
  7. Just saw this thread and OMG David, that's just awesome. You'll have a blast. Make sure you skip the first 9 to bring someone clothes and then only play the back nine with GMAC. He'll be impressed :) I'll keep an eye on this thread, golfing in the Netherlands is pretty sucky currently... Enjoy!
  8. That's very nice! My record is also 3 birdies in a row. But I wouldn't like to play you since I'd have to give 10 strokes! Are you sure your index is 16?
  9. Very nice course, I felt like a Japenese tourist, making photo's of the changing rooms and the clubhouse :) The Americans were great fun to be around (as usual) Two of us just left today after playing a round Orange County National - Panther Creek. There's a nice story to tell about our experience at Bella Collina.. One of the Dutch guys happened to run into a nice guy at Bella Collina, and after a short conversation our Dutch guy asks if this is his homecourse. The guy responds 'no, I'm a member at Bay Hill'. The Dutchy responds with: 'oh, is that a nice course?' and was invited subsequently. Would be nice to play there .
  10. It was a real fun experience. Very nice guys and a nice course as well. The pins were indeed mean! It also didn't help that I left my putting stroke at home. 3 jacked at least 4 times. Despite our loss we really had a blast! We'd be happy to play with you again later this week.
  11. Another one of the Euro's kicking in. Long time lurker on the site, but never registered. With the upcoming match that has to change naturally! We'll be flying tomorrow, really looking forward to visiting sunny FL!
