  1. I moved the ball a bit up (must make sure I do it concequently as ever), bump the lead hip which makes me close my stance a bit. 3 out of 4. Trying to finish high, but that needs some practise. Thanks!
  2. Well, if I read back, there seems to be a discussion if you have to hit up with the driver and/or S&T; enables you to hit up (or hit down, for that matter). As far as I know, media/popular golf instruction is saying that S&T; is no good for the driver because with S&T; you hit down on the golf ball.
  3. The delivery costs to Holland are killing. So I can not give an opinion. For me, I was always trying to hit a club as far as possible. And sometimes I did, and sometimes I didn't and ended up making a mess of the hole. Now, I do not focus as much as in distance, but more to where I leave my ball. Prefer a shorter drive, but in the fairway leaving me with a longer club, but a better/easier chance to proceed. Picking an i8 with a 3/4 swing instead of an i9 which I have to wack full. Do not know if it counts in this review.
  4. Hitting down, hitting up. Joe Average would be happy to hit the driver at all. Hahaha. I am not sure how it works. Let us say the driver is 10.5 degree. That would be in the swee spot, right? So let us further say that if I would hit my driver near the top, the face would not be 10.5 but a bit higher, maybe like 12 or maybe even 14. So, am I correct that if I would hit up on the driver and i would hit it with the top of the club face, I would actually adding loft to the club, hence a higher or more of a balloon flight? And lacking a bit distance? I would say hitting up is ok if you would have huge problems getting the ball up in the air. At this moment I switched driver and put my OnOff driver on hold. Wonderfull driver, had a nice carry around 220 yards, but virtually no roll on the ball. I switched to a MP630 with a Mitsubishi Rayon Fubuki 64 shaft. A bit lighter and lower torque. Smaller clubhead, 445 cc. Lovely club at address woth a screaming white shaft. A bit off topic. Sorry. Seem to have a bit more roll. Carry is more of the same. Gained a bit on well struck balls, to 230 yards. Would like to hit it at the bottom of the club so I am teeing it a bit lower. The club I have the most problems with, are hybrids and 3w. I know what I am doing wrong and yet... Keep shouting to myself: relax! Mental crap...
  5. I saw my teacher a few weeks ago. Got some homework and an easy drill. Making half shots, with 2 rods on the ground. Incredibly I thought I was hitting in to out quit well, but the radar proved otherwise. In Holland, there aren’t a lot of places where you can hit from the grass. Almost everywhere it is from a mat. Not sure how much that has an influence. So, I took up my drill. Hit a few half shots, and then a full shot. I find it remarkable how far a ball will travel with just a half shot. Pure strike. I also noticed that the half shots will help me to get the tension out of my system. I am easing up a bit, relaxed and when I hit a full shot, crisp and solid contact. I hope I can take that to the course.
  6. Pff, all things being equal. I wish I had/could. I do not think if I hit 10 shots in a row, I hit them all the same. Maybe on a given day, but unfortunately nog consequently. Work to be done.
  7. I hit with my irons a push shot now and then. I hate it. To me, my clubface matches my swingpath. Correct? I want to improve it in order to hit a baby draw. I could hit more in to out, hit to first base (like in baseball) so to speak, but I think (oh dear) that I probably hit enough in to out. So (another oh dear) I watched my grip a bit and made it a bit stronger. Also, at address I look closer at my clubface, a bit in closed position. It helped without losing distance. I would like to know if there is another solution. Like shifting the hips more down the target line or putting more weight on the left leg?
  8. My current hcp is now 17.4. I do not take much lessons, takes to much time. I have a few basic drills I practise. I am sure I need to see my pro. What I (still) find difficult on course is the following. Sure it is technical but also mental. I struggle with the hybrid. I grip it and I want to rip it. I put my body in tense, if you get what I mean. My best rounds are the ones when there is no tense. Few months ago I ripped my driver. Relaxed swing, good rhythm, a flow. 250/260 yards. Now, to much tension. Other thing is pressure of the right foot in relation to moving to your left side. I think I understand the pressure item, I translate it like squatting from the ground, using the ground as leverage. Somehow, I do not transfer enough weight in the downswing to my left foot. A fault creeping back in. I currently try to practise the following. In my set up, I push my hips a bit to the left along the target line (still trying to figure out how much, but I want the feeling that my left hip is in front of my left knee). I’ll close my shoulder a tiny bit to help me to swing inside out. I think, but I should film it, my left shoulder isn’t that much down. But that’s my feeling. I notice that I sometimes pull it. So I draw the conclusion my clubface is not closed enough in relation to the path. So I tweeked my grip a bit stronger. Better result. Would like to see some tips/clips on that. edit. My agenda is horrible with a lot work related duties. And when I tell my wife I have to go out for a golf lesson, well. And I know I am not the only one facing that problem
  9. I know of Erik's thread. I've read it a long time ago. Saw a clip on youtube with David Wedzik also about pressure (featuring Petterson and Waite). I know there are more ways to Rome so to speak. Having said that, I am sticking with S&T.; It is pure, clear and proven right. But it isn't wrong to incorporate a tip that works for me (like lifting the toes up).
  10. What I find very helpful for me when one course and my swing is getting out of order, I have a few items I check to correct and for me, they help immediately. First thing i watch my knees from setup. and I make sure my knees are bend and flared out just like my feet (hope I discribe it well) and secondly a (great) tip from David Wedzik. I lift my toes (in my shoes) from my right foot. For me, my swing problems occur when I am shifting my weight ever so slightly to my right side. Lifting the toes some how does it for me preventing a shift.
  11. As my nickname suggests, I am a tax lawyer, working and living in The Netherlands. With a passion for taxes and playing golf. Time or better, the lack of it, is the main reason why I do not play golf as much as I would like to.
