  1. Hi everyone, this year I have really been eager to play golf and I am looking for a league to join or maybe even tournaments in New Jersey or that are in close traveling distance. Mainly also looking for a group to play golf with. I have my regulars I play with, but looking to branch out. I didn't know if anyone was interested. I am a consultant and travel each week to a different place. However I leave sunday night late and come back thursday night. So it gives me time to play on friday and saturday and sunday morning. I was just reaching out, maybe someone would be interested if you are leave me your email or something on here so I can get in touch. By the way my name is Pat, I graduated in May 2010 from the University of Virginia. I wrestled there for four years and now have time to play golf so I am really playing a lot and trying to get at a competitive level. I am 23 years old and live in Somerset County. So hope someone will be interested. Thanks for reading.
  2. Putting has always been the worst part of my game, I am now starting to practice it much more. However sometimes I feel on my take away that the club head is to lite and comes off the putting arch. If I switched to a mallet would this take away the problem or do you think it is all just in my head. I stand with my legs shoulder length apart put the ball in the middle of my stance and put my hands a little infront of the putter. I move my shoulders to swing with the putt not my arms or wrist. I stand with my eyes over the ball with relaxed arms. My grip is an interlock like any other golf swing, however I do grip it pretty hard. Should it be a soft grip? Just wanted some opinions on putting. What people perfer, ball placement, stance, grip ect. thanks
  3. Hi everyone, I just got a good deal on a R9 supertri. I got it for $140 dollars from a friend who was getting rid of it. I notice their is weight technology and you can change the loft and position of the head. I am a lefty golfer and I would like to produce a draw with the driver. Does anyone know how I should position the weights or set the loft and lie of the club? Thanks for the help
  4. Thank you for the replies by, I am going to work on my game and hopefully get back to you all in a few weeks and have a improvement. I do swing a little to hard at times, but so far hasn't effected my accuracy with shorter irons. I will slow it down a little and my driver is a Callaway X 460 Ti Driver *9., so it is older. That is why I am thinking about getting a new driver. Thanks again.
  5. Hi everyone first I just want to say thanks for reading this and I hope you guys can help. Today I played my 3rd and 4th round of golf. At my course, you pay for a round it is a day fee, so I can play as much as I want for one price. Here were my results for both rounds. Par 71 My Scores - 82 and 85 Fairways- 71.43% and 78% GIR- 50% and 44% Putts 35 and 40 , I had 8 three puts in 36 holes ( bad I know) First question, I want to buy a putting aid that will help me have a smooth stroke, any suggestions. I heard momentus is good, but I just wanted peoples opinions. Two, I hit my drives on avg 245 yds. I have an older callaway driver, if I buy a new driver will that add more distance due to technology? Three, what percentage of greens should I be hitting for an above average golfer. I typically have to use my 9 iron which I hit 150yd. What is a good drill at the driving range to produce better GIR. Just keep using the same club and practice hitting the green over and over? I want to shoot around a 75 by the end of the season. My lowest score recorded was a 77 last year, what should I really be practicing? My pitching and putting? All my short game? Thanks again for reading my post.
  6. Hi everyone, I have uploaded my swing for this 2011 season. I have not played on the course yet this season, just a few driving range session. I had a friend video this, it is not the greatest, but hopefully I can still get some feedback. I know my swing is different from a lot, I have a loop at the top I am trying to get rid of and my backswing is not the extent of most golfers since I am not that flexible. However I still hit my clubs very far and I am a good ball striker. My 8 iron which I use in this video goes 150yds. My drivers carry distance is about 245 and rolls typically to the 260yd. Just would like input, and thanks for taking time out of your day.
  7. Hey everyone, I am debating about getting a new driver this season. I see all the new ones out on Golf digest, but I am not looking to spend $400 for a driver. My golf game is pretty good, I haven't played in a year and before I stopped last season I was a handicap of a 8. This season just on the driving range I have been hitting my irons perfect, great ball striking. However with my driver I can not get in a comfortable groove like I did last year. I use to hit my drive 260yds, 240 flight with great roll. This year I am only hitting the driver like 210 with roll and they are not always straight. I want a club with a 10.5 loft I believe to get height on some of my drives. I just am looking for suggestions on drivers that are forgiving. So I can go test a few out. Thanks
  8. agreed... Today I am just going to putt for awhile to redeem myself
  9. I played yesterday and I was scrambling a lot to make par, I shot a 38 on 9. (Par 36) Then on the fourth hole, it was a par 5, 530 yds with a dog leg right. I hit the best drive of the day, took a four iron, hit a slight draw landed 15 ft from the pin on the green. I had the chance for my first eagle attempt this year. I got nervous and hit the putt 7 ft passed the hole, and ended up three putting to get par. Very aggravating, but my iron shot and drive was amazing. The people in my group were impressed, but i had to freaking three putt I was so mad.
  10. So keeping my back elbow tucked really makes a big difference huh?
  11. I was playing a week ago with a guy that out drove me by at least 30 yds on average and I hit the driver pretty far as well. He told me that I lose yardage because on my downswing I do not keep my back elbow close to me. So I was assuming that when I drop my back elbow into my side for the downswing it makes me pivot faster. So on the range yesterday I was hitting a few golf balls with a slightly open stance. Just so I could feel the elbow come inside, I was hitting all my clubs at least 10 yds farther and I was getting a perfect divot in front of the ball. Does this sound confusing I just wanted to know what some of you thought.
  12. Played my 2nd round of golf 9 holes, shot a 38 on a par 36. Had an eagle putt attempt, and five birdie attempts. Made one birdie and missed all of them. I had 22 putts. I three putted a lot.
  13. I know this is random, i played this course over the summer when my family and I were at LBI. I thought the course condition was awful. Is it better now? The greens were very bad.
  14. Thank you for the suggestions, I will take a look. I have one of those at home putting greens that returns the ball back to you, do you think that is a waste of time or no? Also, do you guys do straight back and forward or arc putting?
  15. Today was my second time playing golf this season. First round I had trouble locating my drives and my irons were not that great, I shot a 41 on 9 (par 36). Today I shot a 38 on 9 (par 36). I had an eagle attempt and five birdie putts and I missed all of them except one. I three putted five times and it is really frustrating because I would of shot under. Does anyone know any drills that I can practice inside a house or even at a practice green? I was missing putts that were only like 3 feet away to putts that were like 20 feet. I started putting better towards the end of the round, by just moving my shoulders and tried to not put extra force on the follow through. If anyone has any great suggestions, I would really appreciate it. It is my second year golfing and I finally want to shoot under par. Thanks
  16. I bought these after a three months of playing and I do not know my handicap exactly, but I shoot High 70's or low 80's depending on the course. I have been playing for a year now and I love these clubs. They feel perfect on contact, I just changed the grips to golf pride and I have great consistency with them. They look and feel amazing. They are the best part of my game. I know this wasn't that great of a review, but i would recommend them to other fellow golfers.
  17. I was wondering how some people felt about this club, I have not had a chance to hit it yet, but I know I can get it for really cheap these days. I might go demo it, but I wanted opinions first. Thanks
  18. Do you know how I can try to fix that? All my clubs I hit have a natural draw, just a little one, but lately its a big draw and I can not figure it out. so to much wrist could make sense
  19. I have recently developed a weird drive and I do not know how to fix it. My first step up to the tee, I blasted it about 310yds down hill of course. Birdied the hole... My irons were working pretty good. I have an outside to inside swing, but the rest of the time driving I would hit a low drive and then it would draw very badly, so a hook. I can not figure it out. It feels like I am pulling up out of my stance and I can not figure out why I am doing that. Is there any reasons why you guys might think I am hitting the ball like this or any drills to stop it? I feel like I am turning to hard through and pulling up out of my stance. Also, maybe i turn my hands over to fast? Maybe if i start trying to hit a fade it will counter act it? I don't know, that's why i am here asking. Scenario- I am a lefty golfer, I swing outside to inside and I try to start the downswing with my legs. The ball goes like 225 yds but has a nasty draw/hook to the right, like I am not hitting it solid. I typically drive like 280yds. I know its hard to see without a video, but any suggestions would be nice. Thank you. My buddy I always played with even asked me if my driver was broken, because thats normally the best part of my game. It did sound weird, but I don't think its broken.
  20. I am having trouble in the sand. I keep hitting it thin and it flies out of the bunker 100mph. I have to keep the ball in front of my stance, open up the stance and the wedge. Should I take a steeper swing? Please give me some advice thank you
  21. What i bought was those blister band aids and i taped it over and i played today and held the club a little looser and it worked perfect didnt feel a thing. I shot an avg 84 but it felt nice not having to deal with the pain. My blister is 3 layers deep cause i just kept going.
  22. Today I hit a lot of balls since I have not played in like 3 weeks. I hit most of them straight. But I have a blister that is on my thumb that formed tonight. Does this mean I am holding the club to tight? I am a lefty and it is my right hand. Thanks
  23. I am having trouble with my swing path and I want to start hitting a nice draw. I was wondering if some people can tell me some drills to do, to get on the right swing path and hit draws.
  24. What do the sprinklers mean on the golf course with the distances. Do they mean to the front of the green or the middle of the green? I am still fairly knew and I was wondering... thanks
  25. Today I tried the Scotty Cameron newport 2 at golfsmith and i was sinking putts with it left and right. Putting is the weakest part of my game. However I do not have three hundred dollars that I can spend on a putter. I was wondering if anyone knew other clubs built like the scotty cameron newport 2, that I could look at or if someone knew where I could make great deals for a scotty cameron like that? Thanks
