I have a RBZ driver and I am trying to figure out which tee's to use. I much prefer the castle tee as its the same height every time. I tried the pink but I caught it a bit on the high side and the white (2inch) is just a little below the middle. I have been trying to lift the white tee up slightly which works pretty good (contradicting myself there a bit lol). I watch a great guy on youtube and he was making fun of the pink castle tee's. I don't know why though. Does anyone know why and do you prefer to use regular or castle tee's?

Why Don't You Take Lessons?
Klarkus replied to ReviewMyGolfPro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I do think lessons are expensive if the Pro teaching you doesn't use any equipment/technology. The pro who taught me charged me £20 for half hour and I had to buy the balls from the range. He would watch me hit 10-15 balls then tell me what I was doing wrong. Make me hit another 10-15 and try again...by the time I had hit 50 balls the lesson was up. He helped me for the first few weeks but after that I basically taught myself with youtube videos. If there was a Pro near me that used some kind of measuring technology I would pay a lot because you can see for yourself what you are doing right or wrong where as a Pro just telling you is different. You can't see what you are doing right or wrong. Again though teaching yourself is hard because you can't actually see what you are doing wrong. -
Any golf iPhone apps for clubhead speed/distance hit?
Klarkus replied to Klarkus's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Yeah seems a bit pricey to figure out your yardage. There are some cheap range finders on youtube I might pick one up just to measure how far I am actually hitting. I will try the ball speed on that app as well thanks. -
Why Don't You Take Lessons?

If you only have 30-60 minutes how you gonna play a full round of golf that takes around 4-5 hours lol. Its gonna take you quite a while to get decent if you don't put the time and effort in early on. I started 5 months ago and for the first 2 months I went driving range every mon-fri even if it was only 50 balls. Weekend I would practice on the field just on short game. Even in the house when you have a few minutes just practice chipping, putting and just drills to help out. My first score for a full 18 was 112. Its now 85 thats because I put the time and dedication in. I do think you can get good by youtube though. I had 3 lessons and after that I just watched videos and there is so many out there to cure the things you are doing wrong. Good luck anyway. Apologies for going off topic lol Its easy to get side tracked when I talk about golf. -
Aren't the 800 muscle back and the 825 cavity?
-
Have you tried the 800s? I was going to get these because they are really cheap on ebay but the golf shop near me doesn't do a custom fit on that club. They only do 825 and EZ. Are the 825's forged or cast? I would prefer Forged because its what I am using now but i'm gonna give both a wack when I have the money. Nothing worse than falling in love with a club and not being able to buy it.

REVIEW: Garmin Approach S1 (long)
Klarkus replied to Double Bogey's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
How tight do you wear the watch? Do you sweat much when playing? Do you have big wrists? The shop near me has a demo one so I am gonna try it on before I buy. -

I was going to get this watch for xmas/birthday. Reviews I have heard are very good and looks smart. The only thing putting me off is people say it suffers from bad condensation. Has anyone had this problem and if so how bad is it? -
Wow I don't feel so old now lol. Hopefully when I get to 46 I will be a pro and able to become a teacher of the worlds most amazing sport *thumbs up* Oh off topic but how are you getting on with the JPX 825's? I am getting either those of the JPX EZ after xmas.

Why Don't You Take Lessons?
Klarkus replied to ReviewMyGolfPro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think one a week is too much it doesn't give you time to work on what you have learnt. I agree with when you are first starting out to get a few lessons. I think if you can a pro with technology would be a lot better money spent. -
Why Don't You Take Lessons?
Klarkus replied to ReviewMyGolfPro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Awesome I will take a look thanks. This site is amazing there is so much great advice. Oh I forgot to mention I worked out my handicap from 3 straight rounds and it added up to my handicap being 16.3. However that was on my own lol. I'm sure its a lot more pressure when you are getting your official handicap with someone taking down your score. -
Why Don't You Take Lessons?

So I have been told lol. I played a couple times when I was very young and even then people told me I have a very natural swing. Shame I never carried on as a child and took it up late. -

lol I don't have a handicap yet I thought everyone started on 27. I do know this is not true but to sign up it needed a handicap so I just put 27. I know I am a lot lower just got a natural gift for golf ;) -
The range I go is pretty bad for yardage markers. You can't tell how far you hit it lol. I would love to know the exact yards I hit it without spending a fortune on a range finder. Also would be great to know my club head speed and other specs. I know there is an app called Golf MTRx but as far as I am aware it only measures hip movement? Are there any out there that have anything for clubhead speed or how far you are actually hitting it ect Thanks

That is the main thing I do wrong in a bad swing...look down. Main reason is my stupid glasses. When I take a few practice swings feels great but during the last one my glasses slip down a tad and I forget to push them up because I don't want to regrip. I know as soon as i've hit a bad shot this is the main reason lol I reckon I do lean over a tad too much with the driver...every other club my posture is pretty tight.

Why Don't You Take Lessons?
Klarkus replied to ReviewMyGolfPro's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have been playing for 5 months. I am 29 and I average 85 a round. I struggle with my distances but my irons are very accurate. Driver is 200 yards with a fade/slice which I am working on. I had 4 lessons (1 a week) when I first started. I just felt it was more a watch and tell lesson where he would just watch me and say you are doing this wrong, try this. Fair enough it helped me out at the start but after the 3rd lesson it just felt like I was wasting my money. For £23 for half hour I found most of the stuff he told me was actually on youtube. If we had a pro with some technology in my area I would definitely have at least one lessons every few weeks. I would love to actually see for myself what I am doing wrong as I think the older traditional way of teaching is hard to work on as you can't see what you are doing wrong. I myself would love to work on my game at the range but my closest range is as the course I play which is a 10-15 minute drive. The range is rather expensive I think at £3.30 for 50 balls. I pay green fee's for the year which is really cheap so I just tend to play at least twice a week doing 18 holes and I love it. I go on the field whenever I have spare time with my wedges working on simple drills and short game (the cricket pitch is perfect for this lol) Any suggestions on if I should try another pro or just stick with youtube/playing. -
lol no comment on the age situation. I have had 3 lessons but it felt very much watch and tell, where he would just watch what i'm doing and say ok you are doing this wrong, try this. I know this is a traditional teaching method but I would prefer to actually see for myself what I am doing wrong. For £23 for half hour I felt a bit ripped off. He did help me get started and I used what he taught me and got a lot better but most of what he taught me can be found on youtube. We don't have any pro's in our area that work with technology which I would easily pay for. I definitely think as I am progressing I am hitting further. I couldn't even hit my driver when I first started literally missed the ball every time lol.

Thanks for tips. I don't have much time to workout probably an hour a night at home. I tend to cut it short to work on little things around the house like putting and grip drills just to make sure I do it the same when I am on the course. With the bad weather though I hear its the best time to workout lol. I'll have a look at that 10 min trainer you mentioned as well. I just want to try get more distance really. My accuracy with my irons is very good but I struggle for distance. With my age (29 and slim build) I would have thought I can hit it a bit further. I can only hit my driver 200 and 9 iron 105 :( Just trying whatever I can to get the extra distance to make the game a bit easier. On a short par 4 its pretty much Driver > Hybrid 19 > PW > Putt for par (usually 2 for bogey)

Didn't know if they have different warmup routines like P90X. I will give the Pure Cardio a shot see how I get on. You've made me want to do Yoga again now lol. I can see me getting back into this pretty hardcore now.
-
Awesome i'll give it a try. I have the insanity DVD lyring around somewhere as well. I just find with the cardio and plyo it just seems to go on for way too long. Thanks for the great advice though. EDIT: Which Insanity DVD was the one with that warmup? I have all the DVD's for that program. Thanks

I do the abs with the 3 workouts I forgot to mention to mon-wed-fri I do ab ripper. I used to do the Yoga but its quite hard but I will definitely give it ago again. I fly threw the other workouts i'm a pullup/pushup monster lol. Are there any good routines for the back that you said this program misses? Lower/Lumbar area you mentioned? Cheers
-
Few years ago I was into this hard core but stopped for about a year. I took up golf 5 months ago and I struggle with distance (i'm 29 and quite slim build). Anyway a guy told me to go gym so I started P90X again and I can definitely feel me hitting slightly further. I don't work out as much though because I do 18 holes once or twice a week. Doing a 5-6 day workout is too much with golf rounds ontop so I workout 3 days a week now Chest and Back Shoulders and Arms Legs and Back Be interesting to see if anyone else does this workout whilst playing golf and to see what they do different
