  1. This thread started off by asking about the Cleveland Comp 460, and I tried that out at an indoor simulator at Golf Galaxy the other day. I hit it pretty good, but incredibly high, even with the crappy, stubby tee in the mat. The salesperson tried to explain that this driver is supposed to hit it higher than any of the others. When I asked him something about optimum launch angles, he didn't really have a response, I guess he was just feeding me the line he got from Cleveland. I agree, it looks good behind the ball. In terms of being able to work the ball with the large drivers, I agree, it is next to impossible. Also, I was watching a "Playing Lessons from the Pros", months ago, with Paul Casey. He said that he recently began driving the ball much better because he had given up on working the ball with his driver and just bombing away.
  2. Hogan and Nike certainly do seem to be different companies. I think Leonard likes the idea of being viewed as an athlete. He ran in a marathon several years ago, yada yada...
  3. I've played all three of those courses, as well as the Iron Skillet. I absolutely love Mid-Pines. I could play that course and its sister course across the street, Pine Needles over and over again.
  4. I'll be rooting for the Phillies in what should be a very competitive (I hope) NL East.
  5. Erik, your "in-the-bag" post on Leonard, you list that he used Titleist blades in his Hope win. I'm thinking, why didn't he just use Nike blades (the clubs he is actually being paid to use)? If he is going to make the leap and take his Hogan blades out of the bag, why not just go right to the Nikes, rather than fooling around with the Titleist blades? They really aren't that much different (Titleist blades and Nike blades).
  6. Actually, I agree, the shoes have ripped my heels apart. On another club-note...I am surprised Leonard used Titleist blades. The Nike blades are pretty good, and let's be honest, how different can they really be from the Nike's, why didn't he just use them?
  7. Has Stites been at Nike from the beginning? For some reason, I feel like he hasn't. If he hasn't, that is probably why they got a bum rap in the beginning. In terms of not being popular, I think it is mainly because they're drivers have not been too successful and really, when you think about it, the best way to make headway in the industry is to have a significant tour presence, a great ball, and a great driver....and until the last year or two, they haven't really had anyone but Tiger. They are a young company in terms of equipment, in my mind, they are doing pretty darn well for they're age.
  8. Counting the fifth round saved my tail because the only player I had in my lineup that was active (yes, I forgot the tournament started on a Wednesday) was the eventual winner, Justin Leonard.
  9. I'm a bit of a traditionalist too, but let's face it, I think if we all found something that worked incredibly well and shaved 5 strokes off our average, I think we would all say "tradition be damned"...
  10. He certainly is personable, I remember seeing him on a practice range at a tournament (post-round) and he was talking to everyone in his very laid back manner, its almost as if he forgot the purpose of being there was to practice.
  11. First, I like that you are looking to keep kids with some potential, because at their age, one day you stink, and the next day you are knocking the pins down. Having said that, I think I would pay close attention to the bottom line...in other words you have to find out what they can shoot consistently.
  12. Ditto. I probably shouldn't open my e-mouth about, but for some reason, I just dont' get much comment spam. Hopefully it stays that way.
  13. You said it Aaron, one more win!
  14. Erik, I sent you an email, but I'll reply here as well...I'm interested in joining, I think you guys are really onto something, and as you know, I have a slight interest in golf .
  15. I would want one of these .
  16. I posted this earlier today on my blog: I honestly don't have an answer, but I do feel that in the end, the Eagles will prevail: Eagles 20, Falcons 17.
  17. I'd love to see him do well, but when was the last time you saw someone come back from a prolonged slump that was as deep as his?
