  1. Just curious what are some of the common mistakes from beginners or high handicappers when driving. I am having a problem off the tee box and I may try to record a video tommorow. I think some of my problems are swinging too hard and not keeping my eye on the ball. I know I have some technical problems also. Thanks for any input.
  2. I have read were it would improve your swing if you are flexible. Any certain exercises that would improve your flexabilty. I feel that I do not have a verygood follow through. Thanks
  3. I figured it out. Dean Reinmuth
  4. Since I have just got back into playing after a 8 year layoff I got to thinking about an instructor on the golf channel I really liked. I have somewhere or had somewhere a VHS tape of some of the episodes. I am trying to recall his name. I think the show was either golf lessons or playing lessons. The one episode that I remember the most was Susan Lucci was a guest on one of the episodes. I remember it started off she was acting as her TV character and pitiching a fit when missing the ball then the instructer walks up and tell her she does not suppose to act that way on a golf course. Anyway thanks if anyone recalls his name.
  5. Thanks my main reason is I really dont hit a driver that much and really was thinking about buying a good used driver.
  6. I recieved a set of callaway irons from them 2 days ago they were listed as a 4 and they actually seemed in better shape than I expected. I also recieved the shipment in 3 days, I would defiently recommend them.
  7. Just curious if anyone have noticed over a period of a few years if your driver is not perforimg like it was when it was new. I would think it would take a lot of hitting before it started breaking down. How many I have no idea. Thanks
  8. I guess I would be better off with adding a #4 since I have a #2. Thanks for the input
  9. This is about my 3rd attempt on playing and the last time I tried I just quiet taking a driver I would use my 3 wood on my drives. I could stay much straighter. I think my big problem is I just need to learn how to properly swing a club. What I was thinking is since I can hit my 3 wood well which is 15 degrees is find me a 3 plus or 3 strong which ever they are called (13 degree 3 wood) and use it as my driver. I will say I have not used one of the newer drivers that has the 460cc head. Thanks for the advice. Steve
  10. I was guessing 10 to 20 yards. I think what I am going to do once I get back into playing is I am going to the driving range and record my approx distance with each iron. I figure if I can judge the distance and know what I can hit it will help. Of course I know that is what we suppose to do but when i tried playing before I just guessed what the best iron would be. Probably one reason I am a high handicapper. Thanks for the quick post.
  11. I just started back playing and today I got from UPS a set of callaway s2h2 used irons with graphite shaft. In the set it cam with 4 iron thru sand wedge. For the age they are in great shape. I also bought a Nickent #2 ironwood that is 17 degrees. Today as from another post I hit my new 7 iron at about 20 shots just working on form. It went decent but still inconsistant. Anyway so I pulled out the new #2 ironwood WOW ssems like a great club I hit it mostly off the ground then I tried off of tee. I then hit my 13 degree 3 wood and could hit it about 20 yards past the ironwood. (I really like the ironwood) Anyway just thought I would eventually get another ironwood. What would be the best between the #2 ironwood and 4 iron I am guessing a #4 ironwood which I think is 20 degrees. Thanks for the advice. Steve
  12. I am just curious what is the average distance between irons such as 7 iron and 8 iron. I know everyone is different. Thanks
  13. Thanks for the advice I have never taken lessons I do have 2 close friends who are excellent golfers. One was on a state championship team in high school and the other is a near scratch golfer. I really dont know if the can teach but one said he knows the swing fundamentals. I will check out the videos and may even consider lessons.
  14. A friend of mine told me once that he counts his putts and trys to get better at the putting. He says if you count them by writing them on your score card you can track your improvement.
  15. I use to play about 10 years ago and I was a high handicapper then. I am starting back but I plan on being a more discpline player fundamentally. (keeping eye on the ball, dont try to kill the ball etc). I plan on starting on the diving range and was wondering what should I practice with first. Should I use all the irons on the range. I am guessing I should use wedges and work my way down to the longer irons then practice with the woods and driver last. Hopefully you all can share your driving range routine. Thanks Steve
  16. A couple guys I work with love the Pro1. My question is what would be a good ball for a high handicaper. Hard or a soft ball.
  17. congrads on the the new Nike's
  18. I dont have any atthority on the subject. I would say that there is a chance however the main concern is how good are you. If in the 2 years you have played if you can break 80 consistantly there may be a small chance. There are many great players that are amatuers and the thing is you have to be very good to even get a chance. I would try getting into some of the amatuer tours and probably you will get a good lesson and be able to evaluate your playing.
