  1. After just beating it around for a few years, I am really working on improving my game. Currently, as a 19 handicap, I am using a set of Cobra 3400 I/XH that I bought like 3 or 4 years ago. I would like to get a new set of irons that might give me a little more feel. Any suggestions?
  2. For me, range finders and gps take some of the romance out of the game. I like when I am in between markers, and judging the yardage to the best of my ability. When I put a shot right at the pin then, I feel much more accomplished. I would kind of feel tacky pulling out either device before every shot. Just me though.
  3. Tee times on the black are notoriously hard to get. I live about 10 min from the course, and have yet to play there because it has turned into a circus. To many people with 30+ handicaps out there making every round into a 8 hour marathon. Tee times are allowed to be made 7 days in advance and I believe the call in time is at 7pm. By 7:05 most or all of the times are gone. I have know people who went to the club house like 3 days and have been able to make a tee time by bribing the right people. I would suggest trying the red if you cant get on the black. I know it isnt as glamorous. But it is still a great course. Or even try Eisenhower (spelling?) red, I believe they have tournaments there every year and it is another very nice course.
  4. On the range, you probably aren't thinking about all the stresses that come in on the course. Shots that seem "good" at the range can turn into not so great on the course. Maybe a little short, or to the left or right. On the course, you only get one chance. Personally, I shoot like garbage at the range. Something about being in a stall just big enough for me to swing makes me think I am going to hit the edge with my club and I tense up. After a hole or two on the course though, I feel totally relaxed and hit 10x better
