  1. If you have a set routine on how to pick a club for a shot, you may eliminate both the wood and the hybrid. Start close to your body and work your way out toward the environment and eventually to your target area: 1) How far do you want to hit the ball? 2) What kind of lie? Uphill, downhill, ball above feet, ball below feet, rough, sand? 3) Wind? - club up or down 4) Obstacles? - shape 5) Landing area? - run or stop To answer your question: First of all, what's in your bag? 3 wood, 5 wood, 3 hybrid, 2 hybrid? All these clubs have different distances. I used to have a 2 hybrid and a 3 wood. In order for me to decide to use either, the first thing to consider is "which club for the distance?" If you're on the fairway, you choose the club that will get you the distance. Follow the steps and you may eliminate using a wood at all (deep rough). The main purpose of the hybrid is to replace the longer irons. Hope that helps a bit. Good luck out there.
  2. An outside to inside swing is an effect caused by something else. Identify the cause and you'll have an idea of what and how to practice. No matter what swing aid you use (outside your swing) if you use the wrong sequence of events, you will ALWAYS swing outside to inside. Think about your right elbow. Most coaches will tell you to keep your right elbow close to your body to swing from the inside. However, if you are using your right side to swing (right hip moving toward the ball), you will FEEL like you are swinging the correct way, but your club head will always be outside of the correct line. The solution... from the top - shift the weight to the left side, then use the left side to rotate your hips away from the ball, NOW - keep your right elbow close and keep rotating your hips AND shoulders through. Let the rotation of your shoulders square the face and not the wrists and forearms.
  3. Hitting fat shots are caused mainly by 2 things: 1) No weight shift from the top 2) Early release of (or no) wrist hinge from the top/mid downswing There are other things (i.e. ball position, ball above feet, below feet, etc., but try these first)
  4. The baiscs ( only looked at your swings once or twice in slow motion) Face on - Your hands are flipping at the ball (club already flexed out at impact) Down line - Your hips are moving toward the ball at impact (early release) You are in between a 1 plane and 2 plane swing. You have a 1 plane takeaway and a 2 plane position at the top. In addition, you are using a lot of your arms and hands to hit the ball. Your lower body has to be the main driving force behind your swing. You need to aim for: 1) Solid left wrist with label of glove facing th target 2) Lower body begins the downswing and continues through impact to allow shoulders to close the club NOT the hands Your over tempo and motion is good and practiced, but you're practicing the wrong things for consistency. The way you're swinging now, you need a lot of timing with the arms and hands in order to hit the ball straight.
