At first it really didnt bother me because the only time he could really watch me was on the tee box. But the last two weeks he has been in the same cart with me so he would watch all of my shots and give me advice. The thing about it is that if would be giving me good advice it wouldnt be so bad. But he's telling me the opposite of what I have been reading in books and online. For example, I was teeing off on the first hole which is a par 5 and when I got to the tee with my driver and started lining up the ball right inside my left heel he told me the ball should be two to three inches inside my heel almost to the middle of my stance which is the opposite of what I been reading. Then when I proceeded to play it like I always play he seemed like he was getting a little upset that I wasnt taking his advice. I guess Im going to have to either say something to him or just try avoiding playing with him when we get to the course.

A few co-workers and I play 9 holes after work every friday when the weather permits. The last couple of weeks I have been getting paired up with a co-worker who is constantly giving me advice all through the round. I am not a great golfer by any means and I am always open for suggestions but I would rather take advice from a good golfer which the person I am being paired with is not. I usually try to ignore him and just play like I have been playing hoping he would get the hint but that doesnt work. Yesterday when we were playing he would stand behind me and give advice on just about every shot that I had telling me to relax and take a slow backswing and this is that. I wanted to just tell him to shut up and let me play but I like the guy but its getting very annoying. Especially I have going to range lately practicing what I have read on here and on other sites and I have been improving. I guess what I am trying to say is this. Has anyone dealt with a playing partner that pretends that they are your coach and constantly giving you advice?

I have a steel shaft on my 3 Hybrid and I love it. My irons are steel shafted so to me its more of hitting an iron than a wood so it seems that I get a lot better consistent contact with it and not so much my three wood. Of course it could be just a mental issue with me but when I have a longer shot I tend to grab my hybrid 90% of the time and just the three wood in the bag.

I use the overlapping grip now but I used to use the ten finger grip. I switched because when I was using the ten finger it seemed that I was gripping the club way to tight. With the overlap I relax my grip more which I think is what has helped me improve my slice with my driver. Of course it could be a mental thing as well.

Strong is probably 8-wedge. Weak is definately off the tee this year which used to be one of my strong points but now I cant hit it straight.

After playing a couple of rounds with a couple of veteran golfers it seems that I am swinging outside to in which is why I am slicing the ball. What I am wondering is there any kind of drills I can do to stop me from swinging like this? I still cant figure out why Im swinging like this with my driver but all of my other clubs I swing fine. Also, when I went to the range yesterday trying to get this straightened out it seems that when I do hit the ball straight I sky it sending it very high about 200-225 yards. Can anyone offer me some advice on what kind of drills I can do and why I am skying the ball constantly? When I first bought the driver I was hitting the ball straight and a nice trajectory. If it helps the driver is a Nike Sumo 10.5 reg flex. TIA

I have to say that I do like the looks and the styling of the cobra models after looking at them at dicks the other day. I kind of wish I would of hit a couple of balls with them in their driving range but I figured that Im not ready to buy so why bother. I'll just have to wait to see how I hit them when its time to buy.

The Cobra S9's and FP'S are two sets I want to try but I never really looked into the Mizuno's or Cleveland brands. I've been hearing good things about the callaways as well but as far as the ping g10's go, I think they are out of my price range. I guess its going to come down to just going to the golf shop and trying a bunch of different clubs out since there is so many to choose from. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I have never golfed there but friends of mine have many times and they said its a nice course. I actually played at Emporium Country club a couple of months ago while we were at camp fishing for the weekend. My home course is www.carmichaelsgolf.com by the way.

No there's really no reason I was looking at the draws. I was just looking at iron sets within my price range (300-600) and I saw them and had good reviews. I am planning on going to a golf shop and hitting a couple of different clubs before I buy but Im am trying to do a little research before hand. Can you suggest a good set of irons that I can look into. Its tough just going by what they say on the websites because they all have pretty much the same sales pitch and claim they are the best. I would like to hear from golfers that have had first hand experience with the clubs.

Anyone have these irons? Im looking to buy a new set of irons probably in the fall or early spring and these are reasonably priced and seem to be getting good reviews. Are they a pretty good iron for game improvement? Right now I am playing with my target specials that I bought as a starter set and I am looking to upgrade.

California University of Pa offers that program. Im not sure where you are located but it is in Southwestern Pa about 4 hours southwest of Penn State University. Here is a link. http://www.cup.edu/education/hsss/golf.jsp

Is there Anyone than can give any input?

I was wondering if anyone has had their swing anaylzed there before? If so, are they pretty knowledgable? I am looking to buy a new set of irons in the fall or early spring and I want to hit a variety of clubs to see which ones are best for me. Also, If I cant fix my slice with my driver within the next couple rounds I might consider going there and let them look at my swing to see whats wrong.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Im going to try and hit the range and practice here in the next couple of days. I know I said I was hitting a fade but it actually varies from a fade to a wicked slice. I have been teeing off from the right side of the box and aiming left to compensate for it but sometimes it just isnt enough. Thanks again.

For the last month or so I have been constantly hitting a fade with my driver. Yesterday when I was playing a friend of mine told me that I am dropping my right elbow in too much and I am opening up the club face at impact. I have been noticing that I have been hitting a couple balls off the toe of the club. I have tried adjusting my swing, stance, and how far away I stand from the ball and still no improvement. Everyone I golf with tell me that I have a nice golf swing with my irons and hybrids but when I pick up the driver it makes a turn for the worse. Anyone have any advice for me.

Nike Sasquatch SUMO2 5300 REVIEW
DLR replied to FlopShotArtist's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Ok. I would rather it be my swing than the club. I just hope that I can correct it fairly easliy because its been frustrating. Ill have to get my swing analyzed somewhere to see what Im doing wrong. It seems like everyone I golf with have different opinions of whats wrong and when I adjust my swing, stance, etc it either doesnt help or makes it worse. Well at least I know its more than likely my swing. Thanks alot guys. -
Nike Sasquatch SUMO2 5300 REVIEW

At the beginning of the year I bought the 2007 model Sumo Sasquatch 10.5 Reg flex driver . Im starting to think that maybe I need a stiff shaft as well. It seems that no matter what I change whether it be my stance, grip, or swing Im constantly hitting a fade. I fairly new to the game so when I wanted to upgrade my driver a couple people recomended this one so I bought it. I never did have my swing analyzed or anything nor do I now my swing speed. I guess Ill have to start there and see what they say. -
