  1. I got my card home and realized I didn't write down my score on 18, but I think I shot a 118. My first time to play in over three years and I was all over the place.
  2. Is hitting into a net like that very useful practice? I'm just curious if you really get a sense of how you're hitting the ball without seeing the flight.
  3. Well, I need to stop and get a glove today anyway, so I'll look around while I'm there. I think I might also get a new bag, I don't like mine at all. The Sun Mountain C-130 seems to be well reviewed, so I might check that out as well. But as far as clubs, I'm going to start out with a new driver. I don't really like the aesthetics of the Nike and what I've heard about the sound of the Cobra turns me off a little. I think I'll start by looking at these three; Ping G10 Cleveland Hibore XLS Taylormade Burner I think I could find all three used on ebay for around $500 and just get rid of the two I don't like. Sound like a reasonable start?
  4. I have wedges from the KZG set. So they match the rest of the set. I guess they're ok. I don't know about the 36 handicap, I don't remember putting that on my profile. I haven't played in three years, so I wouldn't say I have a handicap. I'm playing Friday with some friends, so maybe I'll see where I stand after that.
  5. I understand mine was held in moderation. The original list was posted, because I read it, and then it was removed.
  6. I think when I played last I started to see some "rescue clubs" in people's bags, I take it that's what a hybrid is? Is it meant to replace your 3 iron and 5 wood?
  7. My Ping putter is probably the only thing in my bag I really want to keep. Just looking over some reviews, would the following drivers be worth putting on my short list to look at? Ping G10 Cleveland Hibore XLS Taylormade Burner Nickent 4DX (never heard of this before, but they seem to be well reviewed)
  8. I'd like to start playing again after not picking up a club for a few years. Here's what I have in my bag now; Callaway Biggest Big Bertha 10 degree Driver Callaway Big Bertha Warbird 3 Wood (both have Proforce 65 shafts) KZG EL-250 3-PW, AW and SW. They seem to be discontinued, but they look like generic mid-size cavity backs. If I remember correctly they're about an inch over standard length. I'm just wondering where I might benefit most from new technology, etc. When I last played, I struggled most with the long irons and the 3 Wood. I should also mention that I'm 6'5", so I'm not sure anything would fit me right off the rack.
  9. I think that's what this thread is about. Complaining that not everyone is playing by the same rules as the OP.
  10. You're comparing apples and oranges. If I'm playing *with* or *against* you, yeah I would expect we're playing by the same rules. If not, I'd expect to be upfront about it. What you're describing is lying and cheating. But if I'm playing on a course across town from you, how could you possibly care if I drop a ball where I thought I lost one or improve my lie a little? It's unbelievable to me that something like that would even cross someone's mind. Much less go home and stew about it until you complain about it online.
  11. Regardless of the analogy, who would really be so anal as to worry about how strangers are playing a game? That was my point, not to go off on a tangent about street basketball.
  12. I just can't imagine worrying about what rules other people are using. If you saw a bunch of guys playing a game of pick-up basketball, would you make sure they were using a regulation court and using a shot clock, etc?
  13. Here's the list that was deleted, along with the couple of others that were mentioned; Golf Digest Equipment GolfClubReview.com GolfReview.com GolfTestUSA.com iGolf.com The Deep Rough Rankmark Golf Gear Review
  14. Is it not ok to ask about other sites here?
  15. Just looking for a few sites to check out club rankings, reviews and testing.
  16. Ft Worth here, but I'd be interested in some sort of group outing
  17. I played a little golf from after college (15 years ago) until about 4-5 years ago. Since then I've only picked up the clubs once, for a scramble a couple of years ago. Anyway, I'd really like to get back into it, and maybe actually take it seriously. Just looking for a few ideas on how to get started. There's a driving range about ten minutes from my house. There are also a couple of public courses within fifteen minutes driving distance. Both have some sort of 'player development' program where you can use the range as much as you like for about $45 a month. For that price they also offer free clinics a few times a week and discounts on twilight golf (~$15 instead of $30). I'm also curious if there would even be any point to taking lessons at this point, just starting out again. Maybe those weekly clinics where I could just pick up pointers from a pro seeing me hit? And I kind of have my doubts about my old clubs fitting me correctly (I'm 6'5") or being decent quality compared to what my be out there today. I guess I'm just looking for ideas or pointers to get me started. Thanks!
  18. I'm considering taking up golf again after a little hiatus and stumbled upon this forum. Just wanted to pop in and say 'Hi'.
  19. Unemployed at the moment...
  20. I'm in the same boat, about to play for the first time in about two years. Interesting thread...
  21. I don't have much of a temper, but I've seen buddies throw and break a few.
