What do I do With My Wedges?
peteybird19 replied to peteybird19's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
went with a 6iron to 45 degree set! excited to get them -
Hey all I recently won a new set of irons. I currently play ping g30s 1 inch longer 2 degrees upright 5 to pw and then a 50 54 and 58 vokey. Top end of the bag is a g430 driver g425 5 wood and g425 7 wood I settled on a set of ping g430s but the lofts are much stronger ger with the PW at 41 degrees. I am going to go with a 6 to pw but to fill the gap do I go with the 45 degree g430 or should I opt for a 46 degree vokey?

have a 38 inch scotty cameron futura x @mojoe

Hey everyone looking to trade my scotty cameron futura x dual balance! Putter is in great condition and the headcover is included. Looking for a blade or mallet style putter. I may be able to arrange free shipping in Canada but also willing to ship elsewhere. It is 38 inches but meant to be played as a 35 due to the counterweight in the grip.

Hi Guys Getting 2 new wedges an 50 and 54 vokey i currently play ping irons 3/4 inch longer with blue dots (1 degree up right) If I add 3/4 inches to my wedge shaft should i just use a standard lie angle or add a degree upright/flat? Thanks

Thanks for the info..........for that reason I was thinking the 3H in the sim 2 max. The g425 5 iron is 24degrees and the 3h is 19. I never liked hitting a 3w off the deck.

Hey Everyone. Questions about the top end of my bag. I currently have a ping g410 Driver, cleveland launcher 5w (2009) and ping g30 irons 5 to pw. Vokey 52 58 and a scotty cam. I wanna upgrade the top end of the bag.......I love my driver, irons...........gonna go with a 50 54 vokey setup next year. I dont play a 3 or 4 iron as most shots i'm gonna hit to go for 2 on a par 5 are a layup or I play the 5 wood. I was thinking of a 2h 4h combo as I can play them for the fairway easier. Or even a 4w, 3h combo. Open to any suggestions but now the g425's and the sim2 max are catching my eye. I play mainly wetish courses on the east coast of canada. Thanks

OK so I have been doing some research and pricing and here's what I've narrowed down to. I'm abut an 18 handicap and have been hitting Tommy armor 845 cs irons for years. Current setup is 1 tm r15 stiff flex 2. Cleveland launcher 2009 5w with stiff shaft 3. Tommy armor silver back 845 c's 4. Tommy armor silverscot lob wedge 5. Scott Cameron detour putter 1. Taylormade aeroburner combo - 3h4h 5 to pw stiff flex. I get a TM tourlite bag which I could sell for 100 bucks. Total without selling bag = 730 2. Ping g30 - 6 to pw plus a 52 degree vokey - about 680. This set I can get fitted for length and lie. 3. Taylor made speed blade combo - 3h4h 5 to pw - 632

Thanks for the info guys. I usually only hit a 6 iron down. Then 5 wood fills in most gaps. I hit that around 200-220 very consistently. My scores have slowly been coming down. Hitting in the low 90's high 80's right now. I'm going to go look at the nikes and the TM's later tonight.
-
Yes the problem is demoing them because where I live there isn't anywhere to do so. I'm leaning away from the speedblades because they are an older iron. And with the nikes I could sell the 4 iron and 5 iron and perhaps pick up a 4hybrid to fill in the gaps there.

It is the 714. I'm buying them individually from a supplier if it's the ap1 or g30's. I just figured id be getting more bang for my buck with the nike's

Hello, So I have some irons narrowed down to buy and I want peoples opinions on them 1. Nike vapor pro speed - 4-pw,aw - 549 2. taylormade speedblade combo 3h 4h - 5-pw - 549 3. Titleist ap1 - 6 pw - 500ish 4. ping g30 5-pw - 600ish Opinions please. These would be replacing old tommy armor 845 CS. If I get the titleist or the ping's I'm adding a 4 hybrid in there too.

I hit the 5 wood about 230 to 240 off the tee and about 200 to 210 off the deck but xan do that off the tee if i take some.off of it. Driver around 260 to 300 depending on conditions. My 6 iron is about 180 and it goes down about 10 yards from there each club which is why I think I'd like to add a 52 and a 56 wedge. I will definetlh be supporting the pro and he can get any brand for me as he is well known as a club fitter around here. I.agree with what you say about him kbowing my swing and picking the best irons for my budget and abilities. I really appreciate all your help. Thank you.

I don't even think I need the hybrids. Even on a long par 5 I can easily reach greens in 3 shots with driver, 5 wood and wedge. On shorter par 5's I have hit the green in 2 many times.

I feel like I'm hitting well with the standard loft and lie in my current irons so we will see how the fitting goes. I'm getting a club pro here to do it for me and he does the fitting for free and orders the clubs straight from the manufacturers so there is no extra charge fortunately. I'm just wondering if I should just buy the 6 iron to 9 and then a couple wedges as I Never hit the 3 or 4 irons and rarely hit a 5. Most of my longer holes consist of driver, 5wood then wedge into the green. So I don't think the 3 or 4 are necessary and I'm doubtful about the 5. What brand of clubs would you recommend for someone who shoots scores similar to mine. I already know I'm getting steel shafts in a stiff flex.

Hello Everyone, I'm looking at picking up a new set of irons. My set currently consists of: Taylor made r15 matrix speeder 9.5 stiff shaft 9,5 Cleveland launcher 19 degree 5 wood with stiff shaft tommy armor silverback 845cs irons. 3-pw scotty Cameron detour putter I golf in the high 80's low 90's consistently and I'm looking at upgrading the irons since they are nearly 10 years old. I'm 6'4 so I'm going to get fitted for the irons but I believe an extra half inch on the shaft will be perfect. I usually never hit my 3 4 or 5 irons as I'm quite consistent in the fairways with my driver and wood. Just wondering what you guys would recommend for new irons? I was thinking of purchasing them individually from 6-9 and getting a couple of wedges to help out around the greens. Thank you.

What new club did you get for Christmas?
peteybird19 replied to steve617's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
New Scotty Cameron Detour, 35 inches, single bend shaft, baby T grip. I gotta say, I have a great girlfriend. I got a new callaway warbird hot stand bag. It was from the parents. It was either that or the ping hoofer and my dad liked the callaway more, i gotta say it's a nice bag. I got a box of callaway warbirds, tee's, and a new oakley shirt. My dad got a swing trainer that i'm going to mooch from him. -
Thanks guys, After hitting both I think i'm going with the detour, it's a little heavier and I found a holed a few more. I just need to work on that inside out putting swing, but I find this one promotes it. Alignment was great on the thing. Now all I need to do is wait till next summer to start gaming this guy.

Hi guys, I've been looking at 2 putters lately. The circa 62 #1 and the detour. I haven't got a chance to hit either but I was wondering which one was a better gamer? Currently i'm not that hot around the greens but my long game is wonderful. I'm hoping to shave a few strokes off with one of these and considerable amounts of practice. I'm currently hitting a yonex vmass 02.

Why don't you work out a bit? Having stronger abs will reduce lower back pain and improve your posture. I've also found that regular cardio makes walking 18 holes a breeze.

Tommy armours..........all the same?
peteybird19 replied to peteybird19's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
does anybody know ? -
Hi guys, I recently purchased a set of tommy armour silverback 845 cm irons. I was golfing with a friend last weekend and he said that all tommy armour clubs are made in the same factory in china and there is no difference between the most expensive set and the cheapest set.....is this true?
-
Ok, so i'm a student but i'm trying to acquire a nice set of golf clubs as golfing is one of my favorite passtimes during the summer. I had a northwestern set, ceramic matrix i believe they were called. They had graphite shafts and I enjoyed them quite well, but I thought it was time for an upgrade. This summer I got a cleveland hibore xls 9.5 tour driver and a set of tommy armour 855 silverback cm irons (3-pw). Last christmas I got a tommy armour 60 degree wedge as well as a yonex v mass 02 putter. I love the driver and irons, as well as the wedges. I used to shoot mid to high 50's but I find myself getting under 50 consistently now. I'd like to get to the low 90's but I find myself shooting mid to high. I hit the new irons fantastically as well as the wedge and driver. I feel like i've got all my distances covered iron wise as I can hit my long irons fairly consistently. My putting has improved to where i'm 2 - 3 putting most of the time with my putter. I still play the 5 wood from my northwestern set as I don't like the 3 and I can hit the 5 a long way off the tee but shit off the grass. I was wondering if a 17 degree hybrid would remedy this and allow me to make a much longer distance fairway shot? I've also been looking at new putters......i like the blade style but am looking at trying a few soon. My friend has yes tracy II that i'm interested in trying as well as a ping anser. I was wondering what the odyessey blades are like cause it seems like you can get them for reasonably cheap on ebay.

Cleveland HiBore XLS> YOURS
peteybird19 replied to not yet satisfied's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I just got the tour edition of this driver, 9.5 loft, golf fujikura shaft, stiff flex, and I am hitting absolute monsters. I drove a 260 par 4, steep up hill, just yesterday with it, and i've hit just next to the green on a couple 300 yarders. I do like the sound of this, it sounds like a bomb is going off. I like the driver so much i'm looking at getting a 19 degree, 2 hybrid in the same model.
