well i happened to be on a buying whim about 30 minutes ago and ordered these ben hogan sure out wedges: http://www.rockbottomgolf.com/ben-ho...wedge-set.html all the reviews i read said they were good wedges. plus i consider a sand wedge and lob wedge for $69 pretty cheap! anyways have any of yall used them and how did you like them? ya ya ya i know ive already ordered them, but id still like as much info before they come in! thanks.

ya thats what gets me so much is that im pretty good at most sports and i pick up on things really well. it was just such a tease me hitting so well at the driving range i thought for sure i had mastered this game! haha oh well school is about to start back up and that means FREE driving range!
-
haha ya oh well. ive been hitting on only mats for the past week due to all the rain. one thing is for sure is that i have to hit the practice chipping green more!
-
played today (first day it hasnt rained in 6 days!) after lots of driving range time. i could not hit a decent drive all 9 holes. i was getting so frustrated. amazingly i had my best round for the summer. i even hit my first birdie on a par 5! i had 4 holes in a row that were good. the rest were just a complete disaster. i havent gotten this frustrated ever in golf. i actually came close to breaking one of my clubs...stupid game!?!

i really wanted him to stick around so i could watch him because he barely brought it back halfway on his backswing.

went to the local driving range on my lunch break. hitting like usual when this guy comes up and starts hitting on the very next stall. the place was empty too. he starts talking about how he hits 300yds all the time and what not. he hits one that rolls to the trees which is about 250yds. i decided to just loosen up and rotate my hips/shoulders smoothly. i crack one that hits a tree abouit 20yds up. the guy IMMEDIATELY moved to the furthest stall away from me!?! i wasnt trying to rib him or anything. i actually learned a few things by watching him swing. just thought it was kind of funny and a pretty good confidence boost that i intimidated someone!?!

finally figured out how to hit a draw!

i really wanna only get real good inside 50 yards with the fade so it hits the green and stops. i think ill be using a draw shot for now for minimal rolling. any pointers on how to hit it with a wood or driver? is it just the same swing but i just gotta get used to it? -
went to the range with the intent on getting really straight with my 3 wood and after 20 balls i was happy with the progress. so i decided to hit my 7i a bit. practiced the interlocking grip (i use baseball and grip really tight) which i liked on impact, but didnt feel very sturdy in hand. then by accident i came over the top too much and hit a little baby draw! then i tilted my club face to the left a little bit and took an inside - out swing plane and hit a really pretty draw! must have hit 30 more out of excitement! i could consistantly put it within 10 yards of the 120yd pin that was about 30 yards to the left of me. i was suprised how well it would make the ball stop because i have a bad problem with hitting the green then rolling it way off. i tried with my pw a little bit with some decent results. i ran into problems when i tried to hit it with my driver and 3wood. i try the same swing, but the clubhead always opens up when i make contact or i just hit a straight shot to the left that doesnt get much air. also i couldnt for the life of me figure out how to hit a damn fade!?! oh well. just figured id share an exciting moment.

so i figured out that there is a driving range 5 minutes from work so thats where im spending my lunch for a while. my driver has a dent in it so its pretty sporatic where the ball goes. im thinking about just using my 3 wood (which i hit really well anyways) and really try to hone in on accuracy. maybe practice draws and fades until i get another driver. this a pretty good strategy or should i just keep grinding it out with my driver until i get a new one (maybe months).

holy crap thats exactly what i do?!? i could never figure out why i hit to the left all the time!?! i "shoot" my hips really early. so im curious also how to fix this.
-
ok so i went to the range today to work out the kinks with my driver. towards the end i decided to hit my 4-hybrid to get a good judge of range i can get with it. i usually hit it like a driver with the ball just a little behind where it normally is with a drive off the tee. i tried to hit it like an iron with the ball in the dead center of my stance. i couldnt hit it for the life of me and when i did get good contact i sliced the crap out of it!?! once i line it up like normal in the front of my stance, i cracked it to 150 yds on an easy swing. so am i supposed to hit it like an iron, or wood? oh ya i pulled out my 7i for reference and same thing. once i moved the ball up in my stance a little bit i hit it well. i do tend to never take a divot with my irons either. seems when i do take even a small divot the shot is way too fat. thanks for any help.

ok so i hit the range today. no video yet sorry because im always by myself. first few swings were my old way and were a bit dicey. then i got into my rhythym and hit it pretty well. there was a really strong wind blowing right in my face so anything i hit would just sail upwards and stop just about 200 yards. then i started thinking "coil." i did a few half swings where i tried to swing my hips around and was hitting the ball well. a few slices but still rolling them out to 200 on a half swing! when i started doing full swings i was hitting well. if no wind i would have hit 250 pretty consistantly. so now im going to mainly focus on spinning my hips and shoulders around. maybe ive finally figured out this whole driving thing. thanks guys.

i used to do yoga and i got really flexible. ive been meaning to start that up again. ya my club is a $29 knight wally world special. im pricing some online right now. maybe ill start swinging slower but try to make it more smooth and work from there.
-
i feel like im swinging as hard/fast as possible on my drives, but im only getting out to sometimes 250 on a really good drive. most of the time its between 200 and 250. should i maybe twist my wrists at the bottom or right before contact to up it that much more? im already pretty far back in my stance and i do the 60/40 weight distribution towards my back leg. i start right, and end right. thanks for any help or tips or something.
-
well im not a huge fan of the shaft. its pretty flexy and i have a pretty fast swing. it seemed like the driver couldnt keep up with my hands. ya i guess ill buy a new one. in my town we do have a golf store, maybe ill call them and see if they buy used or take trade ins. thanks for the info guys.
-
dang it! it makes sense because when i first got it i was crushing the drives, now i cant seem to get any lift at all. oh well! any ideas on what i can use it for? id hate to just throw it away
-
so my driver from my new set of clubs has a dent on it. its on the toe of the club, but not on the face. kind of around the curve on the toe end. i have no idea on how it got there (i think my brother hit the wall with it or something.) will this affect my drives?
-
i can find it used (which is probably what im going to get) for around 50-75 buy it now. new is over 100 for buy it now.

What is the best golf lesson or tip you ever received?
agengo02 replied to PEZGolf's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
keep your head down even after the swing. let your right shoulder (for rightys) hit your chin then move your eyes toward the ball in flight. you miss the first 1/2 second about, but this little tidbit has dramatacly improved my iron/fairway shots. -
haha how decent we talking!?! i think the shipping would be a bit too much to get it from you to me! i have been eyeing them on ebay though...
-
thanks for the visualization nancy. i brought my pw to work with me and practiced accelerating through the shot with short swings. its definately the difference! now that i have the clock visual i think ill be ok. on lunch time im going to see what my range is with different positions. thanks again all.
-
i am the latter. i rarely ever take a divot (unless i mess up a shot!) i always get a clean hit. so i need less bounce as in 8* or less correct?
-
see im the opposite. i can reach the green in 2 shots on a par 5 on a somewhat consistent basis, but i then screw it up with my chipping and putting. i just saw a video about this yesterday on youtube. the guy put a golf bag behind him so he could only swing back a foot or so and he really accelerated through the ball. i should be doing this because im really good at accelerating from the back swing. he said that most people do a full backswing and then slow way down before contact and thats EXACTLY what i do!?! looks like this is the option im going. thanks guys.
