  1. 19and53 Studebaker 2dr ht. I was around 16 at the time, early 60s Total price $100. on the easy payment plan about $4.00 a day. I remember because I worked in a gas station after school for $1.00 per hr, and that s.o.b was there every day to get his money. I had to beg him to skip a day so I could put gas in the dam thing. Of course in those days $4.00 would fill it up.
  2. In view of cvlngineer's information, I respectfully withdraw my complaints about Bennington Golf Bags and wish them a speedy recovery.
  3. OK thanks people I appreciate your quick replies. I was really beginning to worry as I've never had service like that on the net before. Anyway I'll wait til next week to start worrying again. Thanks much .
  4. Ordered a golf bag from BenningtonGolfBags.com on 9/12/08 and no word from them. I've emailed them two times and called three times. Pay pal has been notified hopefully they can help. In the meantime I wouldn't order anything from them. $179.00 down the drain???
  5. I,ve played it a couped of times but it's a little rich for my blood. That course in Marysville had a good deal $14.00 with cart before 7a m and we got off a 6a m , so that worked out well. Upro finely got back to the Paris Landing Pro but they wanted him to order three units to open an account. He was worried that he would get stuck with with two of them. Anyway he told me to order mine on line.
  6. Hey Xdriller I just noticed you're from Woodinville. I just retired from the "Lazy B" in Everett a few years back. We have a real good pro here. He was really only interested in saving me money and not his profit margin. But I think he has to eat too and I don't begrudge him his profit. On second thought, you're probably right about SG5 being better than the UPro in basic mode. My buddy has a SG5 and between the two of us we can barely figure out the real simple stuff right now. Anyway, we're looking forward to the UPro arrival.
  7. Called upro today to see about the pro mode mapping. To his credit he didn't commit to a time line for the pro mode mapping. He did say his unit was better in basic mode than the Skycaddie sg5 and I believe him. I know you folks kinda advised against it but I told the pro to order me one anyway. Im really sold it and it would be a $400. mistake and I done worse. Cheers
  8. I'll keep you up to date, and no there was no offense taken. I had to look up technophobe and yep I do qualify.
  9. Ok thanks Useless I'll give them a call on Monday and see what they have to say. You're right and I'm busted I'm a geezer and we sometimes have trouble finding the power switch on stuff.
  10. Well, after one email and one phone call (one week total) uPro got back to me with "We can map your course in basic mode in 4 days." End of message!!! Absolutely nothing about when they will have pro mode available. On their website they say 2009 but does that mean I'll just get basic mode till then? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that like offering me an ice cream cone without the ice cream. Also, can anyone explain the negative comments customers have been writing. When you read the reviews half of them seem like they were written buy uPro and the other half were written by skycaddy. What I mean is everybody either loved it and gave it a 5 or hated it and gave it a 1 or 2. This is for "useless"...in your opinion is it still worth the $400 or should I wait until 2009 and pro mode is mapped and maybe they have worked out more of the bugs? Thanks, Bob
  11. "Mr Usefull" Your review of the upro was extreamlly usefull. I've been scratching my head trying to figure out which gps unit to buy. As far as the base unit is concerned the upro looks to be by far the best.............buuuuut the cost of the accessories is outrageous $25.00 for a carrying case or plastic holder, way to much, and the proprietary battery I think that was $25.00 too. When you start adding everything up it's gonna be in the neighborhood of $650. or $700. OK the rant is over, and with all that being said I'm gonna buy it anyway. I only need a couple of courses and I can make due with a $3. wal mart phone carrying case and some Velcro strips. My SS check ( that you paid into) only goes so far, and I have to spend it wisely. I'm a newbie so please excuse any breach of protocol. Thanks again Mr Usefull for a well written review.
