  1. I was a little surprised Clarky was left out, as his partnerships with Westwood have always done well, and he's playing well. However, I'm glad we have given the young guys the chance, and whilst neither have set the world alight this year, they are damn fine golfers. Poult's narrowly missed out on the Open dont forget......had Harrington not played out of his skin on the back 9, it was Poults for the taking. I'm just glad that the whinging whining Montgomerie isnt there this year, he isnt playing well enough and I cant stand his smug petulant manner. Is it just me ?
  2. LOL, I dont feel so bad now, Ive had my Zing 2's nearly 12yrs, and have just given in to a new set of Titleist AP2's, and looking to add a couple of Vokey's too. I shouldnt feel so bad about it it seems after 12yrs !! Only got my first 'new' driver 2yrs ago too, my G5, but I'd got down to a 12H/Cap without anything more than an old 3 wood anyway, and I still have my old steel shafted Callaway War Bird 5 wood in my bag, which I cant seem me moving on quickly, cos it goes like a bullet Remember guys, it aint the song, its the singer ! I know new stuff can inspire you and all that, even help you in some ways, more forgiving etc etc, but you still have to swing it right, so careful you dont get too caught up in chasing stuff to lower your scores.
  3. Just bought myself some Titleist AP2's, and seeing as I have some £/$ in credit at my Pro shop, I'm looking to add a couple of Vokey Wedges to the bag too, but torn as to what to get ....... The new lineup due out in October looks great, particularly the Black Nickel - if I can wait that long Love the look of the Oil Can too, but I dont like the way it 'rusts'. My current Beryllium Copper lob wedge has 'aged', dullened etc, but rust I wouldnt like. What Bounce does everyone play with ? My current Sand wedge has a lot of Bounce, which I really havent liked as it makes it difficult to get under the ball on hard/tight lies, whereas my Lob is very low bounce and is nice and easy to slide under the ball off any lie really. I arent a big divot taker, so I guess I dont want anything described as a 'Digger' on the specifications. I was thinking of perhaps 2 Spin Milled at 54 & 60 degrees, either both with 8deg bounce or the lob with 4deg ? Never really thought about this a great deal before......as quite clearly I perhaps should have !!
  4. iacas : Thx for the link, I had read that actually, certainly a good review. MJ : Many thanks for your thoughts, sounds as if I should be fine. I must admit, I hit my Irons pretty solidly most of the time, and certainly when I hit the AP's with the 5.5 ProjectX shaft in, it was a good trajectory and a nice draw, felt good for me. Not sure what difference the Flighted makes, but from what I tried, I was happy. winders : Again thx for your comments, 2deg upright like me I see
  5. Hi all, just signed up - hence my first post Ive had my current Zing2's for 12yrs now, and they took me down from 20 HC to my current 12, where I have been for the last few years, despite not playing THAT much, and hardly ever Nov - March. This year however, have got the bug back, and been playing some great golf, including my best ever 2 rounds, one 2 over Gross and one 4 over. So, intent on getting to Single figures H/C, I'm craving a more 'Players' type club, and have tried both the Mizuno MP57 and the Titleist AP2's. Both had the DG s300 shaft in, which I wasnt totally happy with, but it felt better in the AP's. Then went to a local fitting centre and tried the AP's with the Project X 5.5 shaft, and what a difference. Lovely weight and feel to me, more of the same swingweight that I have been used to perhaps. What are anyone's experiences with moving from a GI iron like the Zing2 to a more advance club, and what did it do for your game? Anyone any comments on the AP's generally ? Thx
  6. Glove ??? Why ? Since watching Freddie Couples years ago and thinking, 'He hasnt got a glove on !', Ive never bothered. Doesnt make the slightest difference to me at all.
  7. I run my own Travel Consultancy from home, so I can surf all day long when HID isnt around
  8. I've been thinking about this too, as I hit my old Callaway War Bird 5 wood like a dream with slight draw, and it has a steel shaft in.\ My G5 has an Aldila NV64 Stiff shaft in, and whilst I can hit it well, I can also push/cut them easily too. hmmmm......... *thinks*
