  1. Update on this: I tried the XR line again today. Some time at the range seems to have cured my launch issues with the FW. I'm getting some really nice carry numbers now. Launch has improved dramatically from 5 to around 10-13 degrees. That being said I'm still loving the XR range...and i am NOT historically a callaway fan. The hybrid is like cheating it's so easy to hit. Fw and H are going in the bag come 2/20
  2. Tiger's problem is mental. But it's not some yipping mental block. His problem is he doesn't love the game anymore - it's obvious. The guy plays fewer tourney's every year. He takes more and more time off with these injuries. He seems to practice less and less (something documented in Haney's book and evident in his form on the course). Tiger wants the records and the money but he doesn't want to work for it anymore. He withdraws everytime he doesn't have a chance to win and blames it on some weirdly described injury. The guy had a broken knee and fought through it at the US open in 08 cuz he had a chance to win. He's 8 shots back today and his glutes don't fire and he WD's? cmon. He was two thirds of the way through the round. Freddy couples fights back pain EVERY TIME he tees it up. He plays twice as many events as tiger. I hope he gets it together...it's sad to see him fall so far....again.
  3. 913 f 15* The simulator at the golf store
  4. i completely agree. and it's something i'm working on but for now this helps
  5. I have played j40 cb's and they are more forgiving than you think. If you want a step up from there in forgiveness but don't like tons of offset i'd recommend these . In my experience the MP 54's are the same forgiveness if not less than the j40 cb's. They are certainly a thinner club. Mizuno MP h5's Nike covert forged (this one surprises people) Srixon 545
  6. I love hitting Fairway woods off the tee. I hate hitting them off the deck. I typically make flush contact but a 3 wood just comes out low and hot off the deck. (usually around 5 degrees of launch for me in testing). I have decided that in order for the shot to be useful into a green i need the launch AT LEAST in the 10 degrees neighborhood. So i'm looking at 5 woods instead. I thought i would share my findings in testing all these clubs. I know many people struggle to launch the fairway wood so hopefully this might be useful to others. First here are my average numbers for these clubs. Swing speed 107-110 Launch 9 degrees ball speed 150-154mph Clubs tested: Nike vapor speed: TM aeroburner: Callaway XR : Ping g30: Titleist 915f. Nike vapor flex - Callaway big bertha Tour edge exotics Taylormade jetspeed Cobra Flyz My favorites were the Ping g30, Callaway XR, TM aeroburner, and the NIke Speed. It is surprising that the Titleist was NOT on this list because i have always been a Titleist fan. I love my 915 driver and H. The winners for me are the aeroburner and callaway xr. Both were exceeding my expectations for carry. The aeroburner was longer but "hookier" with that shut club face. (and i dont like white). The XR was so consistent and possibly the best feel/sound of any. It also appeared to have a smaller profile compared to all the other "easy launching " FW's. More workable than the aeroburner too. I think the XR will be on order soon.
  7. honestly i doubt the 900's would be drastically different from the h5's
  8. I recently picked up a combo set of mp 15's with H5 replacements for the 3 and 4 iron. I can hit a "bladey" 4 iron on my good days but even then it produces such a low and hot ball flight that it's really a useless shot into greens. So i swallowed my pride and ordered something chunky. The MP 15's are great typical mizuno but we all know what that's like. The h5's are incredible - especially with the KBS c lite shafts i got in the 115 gram x flex. The ease of launch is what i love. I wouldn't say they're any longer than anything else but they will be twice as consistent as any bladier head would be. And let me be clear i'm not a slow swinger or a high handicapper and this is still extremely beneficial for my game. I encourage anyone who's struggling with their long iron play to check these things out
  9. I don't think mizuno or it's players has that rep. They have one of the best reputations in the industry in my opinion (at least with regards to their irons).
  10. Some guy i got randomly partnered with pulled his drive left on a par five. got stuck behind a tree in the rough. He had something like 250 to the flag but he had to hit a big draw around this tree. pulled it off with the highest drawing 3 wood i've ever seen. Landed soft to about 12 feet. He attempted four other shots that cost him quite a few more strokes than that birdie but that one shot was pretty impressive.
  11. I did notice that the simulator was reading unusually high for some launch angles. for example your Traj optimizer shows a height of 57 feet while the simulator i was on shows a height of 41 yards. big difference there. not sure what that's about. However the height and ease of launch is what i liked most about the club not necessarily the distance.
  12. Yeah probably hit it a little on the heel....that tends to be my miss
  13. Here is one of the shots testing the aero burner. This shot was off the deck not off a tee. It's really an impressive club
  14. They have a "high launch" 3 wood in this range that is 16.5 deg. So that's basically a 4 wood.
  15. I don't hate Taylormade products like some....but i'm definitely not a fan of white golf clubs. But I could almost overlook the fugly white and red paint scheme on the aeroburner fairway based on the way it performed at the store. Granted the club is probably an inch longer than any other three wood i tested. But it was easily 8-10 further than anything else, extremely forgiving, and produced a nice higher than usual flight. If you're looking for a 3w to get you more chances at those par 5's in two - i suggest trying this thing. It's ugly but it really works.
