  1. not sure who is going to win, but mike is very natural at throwing clubs and kevin swings like a little school girl. tony has the potential for pga for sure.
  2. haha, allow me to beat the dead horse one last time. IF the whole world knows nothing of tiger's problem and stevie is asked about it, if he says what he has said, then i agree with you that he is standing up for tiger, regardless if he knows or not. now, the whole world knows of tiger's problem already and stevie says he knows nothing. either he is indeed an idiot , or, to me, the implication is that tiger has also mislead him. since the whole world is already mad at tiger for being mislead, stevie raised his hand and yelled,,,me too!
  3. no i think we are talking about the same article. apparently i read it differently . so a sportswriter suggested that stevie must knew something. stevie in response, in anger, came out publicly and said he knew nothing, meaning tiger did it behind his back. taken at its "face value", it is a valid assertion. however, in my book, for stevie to come out to draw attention to tiger's problem during tiger's darkest moment is an interesting gesture. he knows right from wrong but tiger does not. isn't he supposed to be a fanatic tiger defense person? cough, cough, good person.
  4. i am not a big fan of someone like stevie who waits no time to point out in public that he is the good guy...when tiger, the bad guy, is in the dumpster. so sorry, not a rat,, but a good guy
  5. yes, stevie is nobody. esp now, what a sellout,,what a rat. so one has to do or say things just in case the tabloids will form their own opinions? "Steve is sponsored by companies that aren't sponsoring Tiger." what does that supposed to mean? that if stevie does not the draw the line in public, he could lose sponsorship? my my.
  6. reasonable assessment. in this american society, good boyz do well, bad boyz do well, and there is not much room for sleazeball. currently, tiger looks like a sleazeball. all the pr guys are scratching their head because this unique case is not in the textbook,,, could be nike's fault to start with that slogan of ,,,just do it.
  7. discussed or not, not sure. what they are trying to salvage is tiger. to reiterate "tiger's problem" instead of talking about his car racing is not helpful. stevie is nobody. who cares what distance he is from what. I'd like to hear him say: i understand tiger is going through a hard time. whereas people may have opinions on his matter, i would like to remind everyone of all the good he has brought to the game of golf and beyond.
  8. it is interesting stevie would volunteer something like,,,tiger has a problem. just say, no comment, dude. whether the public thinks you know or don't know tiger's problem is so secondary... it is like saying,,,i do not know that my boss has a tax cheating problem... stevie has just created a little job insecurity problem for himself when tiger is ready.
  9. can always use an outlier,,, i say, he won't play any pga event in 2010. 3 points.
  10. interesting insight.
  11. only in america...
  12. i am not in a position to second guess what tiger team should have done instead of what they did, but one thing that is possibly agreeable is that the tiger team in the past 10 years has done a remarkable job creating a world known brand, reshaping the face and possibly the future of a sport, something the agents of arod and kobe cannot achieve, mostly because i think it is due to the uniqueness of tiger woods, the inborn talent to be a history in the making. some outside usa follow kobe, not many are familiar with arod (just like some of us are not familiar with messi). tiger, with his multi-cultural background, is imo as well known globally as the coca cola brand. to come in front of a camera to self incriminate (well, sort of) is not a move that can be taken lightly by his agents right after the wreck. for one, tiger might even have kept his agents in the dark until just recently. those lawyers are not gamblers and for a moment they probably could not effectively evaluate the risks and benefits of the next move to take. my personal feeling is either say nothing at all or tell everything honestly. tiger said a little (can transgression simply mean hitting the fire hydrant? :). that is like the fuse, like feeding the wild animals so they keep coming back for more to wear him out.
  13. well, hindsight has its advantage. it would have been a bold if not a smarter move if tiger had a press conference immediately after the car wreck and revealed to the world his extramarital affairs in a lump sum, instead of what we are seeing now, one thong at a time. he could have said: if you guys can think of it, i probably have done it, but i plan to put an end to it. but our instinct is to hold the cards as close to our chest for as long as possible. since every move is orchestrated to some extent by his team of superagents who are good at playing hard to get, the development we have seen is really quite inevitable. i disagree that tiger can be regarded similarly with kobe and a rod, that he needs to take cues from their experiences. tiger is a world icon who is going into the history books, with or without this fiasco. kobe and a rod in comparison are small time dealers. i hope tiger learns to grow some thick skin and go after his missions like clinton did after his interngate. come to think of it, clinton is probably the only one standing after major, embarassing exposure of affairs.
  14. GOOD JOB TIGER, RIGHT MOVE. there is just way too much shame to face the public in the near future. good move to continue to apologize, stay out of the lime light and regroup and recharge. once you have cleared your own conscience, noises around you don't matter. so tiger, my best wishes to you coming back a better person!
  15. reminds me of that scene in Coming To America where the prince (eddie murphy) has 2 ladies in the bath royally clean his pens as a ritual. If i wake up every working day and know ahead of time i am going to take home 1 mil dollars, i suppose my appendages may also rise to the occasion and demand some special attention. how can you possibly save a marriage when the dissing of the wife to the mistress has gone public? money can buy a lot of things, but not lost face or faith.
  16. crazy as it may sound, it is tough to win majors if tiger does not show up... on one hand, i understand the well wishers of the best case scenario for tiger golf wise...keep winning on the golf course and other things will take care of themselves. ala if we win lotto, we just play golf and things will take care of themselves. fine. on the other, life has a funny way of getting complicated. to play or not to play, that is the question. if playing golf is a simple solution to all the issues at hand, i would think playing with a busted face a week ago is much easier than playing with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
  17. classical looking,,,hoganisque...
  18. 2 majors alright, 2 major problems in 2010 that is. 1. hostile work environment. 2. hostile home environment.
  19. just want to point out one thing regarding the first post,,,setting wrists, early vs late, and "cupping" are 2 different entities. in other words, you can "cup" with early or late set. and cupping, if i am not mistaken, the bulging out of the wrist, aka wrist flexion tends to close the clubface. in one of those golf mags of late, there was an article i think by todd anderson (davis love iii's teacher) who suggested that your left wrist angle, at address and at the top of the backswing, should be similar, if not the same. btw, l like leadbetter's video. wie probably falls into that school.
  20. http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/new...yhoo&type;=lgns my comments on tiger recently were perhaps uncalled for, but to drag phil into this right now is quite odd. go as far as apologizing to phil??? burp.
  21. ok, so this little article in golf digest (dec 09, p 102) by peter sanders (whoever he is) proposes another way to stat your putts. in summary, he felt that total putts per round can be misleading and not a good indicator of putting ability, like "balancing your checkbook by simply totaling the number of checks written" :) he argued that there was no way to tell a putt made from 3 feet from a putt made from 50 where the latter suggests a much better putting ability. he felt that "putt for dough" is misleading and gave an example. "bob tway ranked first in number of putts per green hit in regulation at 1.718, and Vijay Singh ranked 107th at 1.792--less than one putt per round of of separation! both players averaged 12 greens in regulation per round, yet singh had three victories and let the money list while tway has no vic and was 132 in money." he proposes to look at: TOTAL FEET OF PUTTS HOLED. here is the details: on each hole, record only one number: the length of putt made rounded to the nearest foot, with 2 conditions. 1. all putts inside 2 feet count as 2. 2. any putts made over 15 feet counts as 15. after 18 holes, add the lengths of all 18 putts. then substract 4 feet for each 3-putts as penalty. the final number is what he calls: your putting performance . according to his stats: scratch players usually hole 70 feet per round. 15 handcper: 50. ---- what do you guys think? i may try it out with my kids next year.
  22. so i fed some more gossip to my wife after dinner yesterday who is a busy cancer doc, who has no time for nonsense but extremely shocked and saddened by the development, who regards tiger as the ultimate. his ability to seize the moment at crucial junctures possibly draws some parallels to the intensity of her work where sometimes one has to focus on only one goal or outcome and nothing else is good enough or matters. so i ask, do you think he will continue playing golf? she looked at me as if she was looking at a moron. duh. okay, let's move on.. do you think he can beat jack's record? she said: easy. do you think he will be remembered more by his transgressions than his achievements? she said: people have short memories. in fact, very short memories. what do you think of him now? i mean, you have regarded clinton as dirt, but with tiger you are not? she rolled her eyes upwards and then sideways. i can't figure that one out.
  23. commercialism is a different discussion. if not tiger, they will try to search for another spokesman. corporate interests will never die with capitalism. palmer will go down history as a corporate guy but also a respectable human being. those 2 entities can co-exist. the crust of matter here is human indecency or the degree of human indecency... perhaps the nike honchos are scratching their heads and wondering,,,many tiger mistresses can we handle?
  24. perhaps i am being a little too hard on tiger. as much as it does not make sense to hear it,,,even though i am referring to tiger, i am really not dissing him personally. rather, i am talking about this tiger phenomenon, the tale of a double life, or the practice of double dealing. you know, perhaps that is why through out the years, no matter how people have berated john daly for his moronic ways, stupid ways, i have always had a soft spot for him in my heart. He is real and tiger is highly questionable.
  25. you said you find it unfathomable why people just can't resist deciding why and how another person's mind works. and the same time, you question other people expressing their own opinions. let me give you a golf analogy: he cheated on hole 1-18. sure he has done good and wonderful things, such as those education foundations, encouraging under-privileged kids to grow up as responsible, honest and sincere role models for others. and then he pulled the rug under them.
