Just curious about something. Got my new set of irons which I've been hitting really well (the upgrade from the mix of hand me downs is like night and day) I'm using the Callaway driver in my sig, which I'm not a huge fan of because I find it hard to hit. I think it's mostly my swing that's causing the problem. When I hit an iron I come down in behind it instead of trying to sweep it off the ground which seems to be working well for me. When I hit the driver should I be going for a rounder swing to pick it off the tee? Also, what about for a hybrid? should it be a iron like hit?

I mostly focus on where I want to hit the ball. I find if I look at the top of the ball I end up topping it too often. Lately I've been aiming for the backside of the ball just under the midpoint. It's getting me to come down sharper into the ball and launching it into the air (and a lot straighter).

I just got the Nike Ignite irons (with the 3H) off ebay for $205US new. Compared to my old hand me down mix of clubs it's like night and day. Can't wait to hit the course ASAP with them after 1 night at the range on them.

I just started again this year after 10 years off and got old hand me downs from my wifes dad. Decided I liked golf enough again to invest in a set for myself. Irons - Just ordered a set of Nike Ignite 3H 4-PW off ebay for $200 Driver - The Callaway he gave me is ok, but I might look into something new before next season SW - Probably gonna pick up a SW this weekend, so far I'm looking at the Nike SV black satin finish Bag - Brothers old bag with broken zippers is being replaced with something asap. Thinking Callaway warbird or Nike Xtreme Sport 2 Putter - Gonna put some time into practicing with the one I have until I get a feel for how I like it Shoes - Don't have any right now (only played about 6 full rounds this year until having surgery ended the season for me). Thinkin in the < $100 range to start, so some lower end ADIDAS or NIKE will probably be in line for me Then it's all practice practice and hopefully being able to afford some lessons just before next season starts.

Anyone here tried the Adams IDEA a3? Guy at my local store (who was probably the most helpful sales guy I've run across in ages) recommended them for me. They're $550 right now (steel shaft for the irons) and they did get a Gold award from golf digest for whatever that means. I haven't played in about 10 years and just started up this year again (only got in 3 rounds before having surgery which has held me off on playing for a while). I'm looking to get a decent set to replace the hand me downs from the wifes dad/grandfather which are an inconsistent set of clubs ranging from probably 5-30 years old.
